After going to two masses at St. Pius X church, I quickly realized that this church had made a home for me. The congregation is kind and devoted. Their programs and ministries are more output for regular churchgoers. I felt very inclusive of their purpose. I want to highlight the structure of their homily. They divided the messages into a "series" and bind it with the gospel readings fluidly. The result is well-crafted messages that speak to your heart very well! The greeters are very welcoming and they also offer kids ministry call led SLAM. Recommended for kids ages 4-10. And i also recommend checking out the live stream of mass every Saturday at 5:30 pm in YouTube flat form. Just search 'St.Puis X Catholic Church'.

I was affiliated with this church since 2005 because my children attended school there from K-8th but because it lacked diversity I practiced my faith at a different church. Well that has CHANGED. St. Pius X is now a multicultural place of worship and you get the spiritual nourishment that you need especially through the message series, small groups and numerous ministries that one can and should join. You feel welcomed on arrival because you are welcome. I am now a proud member of St. Pius X for the past 2 years and I'm loving the direction that the Catholic church and St. Pius X is heading.

With such a small congregation you wouldn't expect the very high caliber of music that was provided. Although this is a very old African-American church, they welcome all comers. Parishioners come from all walks of life - young and old from all ethnic origins can hear great advice about how to best get along in life. The message applies to us all... But again, did I mention how phenomenal the music and the pastor are here?? This might be the best show in town, and you come out of it a better person having participated in it. Whatever led me here today, I'm glad it did. I'll be back. PS: Keeping it real, what led me was the fact that I realized I was walking by a lot of churches to go to church. So I decided to keep my walk short. Church #1 had it's gates closed and I couldn't figure out how to get in. Church #2 was Unitarian. Mom's Unitarian. That's not a Christian church. This was church #3, and their door was open. Now I usually go to a 5pm service downtown as I hate mornings, but today Ray Lewis is in a playoff game at 3, so schedules needed to be adjusted. The point is that this is a great church that just might get me up in the mornings on Sundays. Bible study's at 9:45 in Werner Hall, and the service starts at 11.

The daycare center had been required to release the children under the age of three for not meeting something that they were required to provide for DC. I paid for my child to attend daycare for 8 hours. She was allowed to come to school on Monday and when I went to take her on Tuesday they brought me all of her things and told me she would not be able to return. So naturally I was upset. I had to take the day off from work, find another daycare, and was not refunded any money. I paid them for the entire week of $176 and was told that I had to call back. I called several times over the next few weeks to get the run around. Eventually I was told that I would not be getting any money back. So I had to take off a day from work, use many hours at work to call and find a daycare. Take off another 4 hours to go and interview other daycares and had to use other time to track down the director. For this establishment to be a church, I did not like the Un-God like way that I was treated. I would not recommend sending your child there if you pay out of pocket for daycare.
