Completely unsuspecting shoe and bag repair store located in a basically unmarked kiosk on Broadway. I was referred here by my tailor for repair of a small strap handle on an old purse that belonged to my grandmother. They assessed the bag, told me it'd be ready tomorrow and that it'd be $12 which was shockingly cheap compared to what I expected as this bag was small and delicate and hard to get into the seams of. It was ready the next day and looked brand new. The handle was reinforced, and the bag itself was still in great condition. If you have any type of smaller bag that needs repairs I would definitely take it here. Can't speak specifically to the quality of the shoe repair here but if its anything like what they did for my bag then I'd say you're in good hands! read more

Expensive and poor quality. I paid $45 to have the sole repaired, and now all the stitching (white on black shoes!) is visible inside the shoe. For such expensive shoes, this looks very bad and unprofessional. read more

Being the crafter that I am, I am great at spotting the potential in undervalued things. I purchased a vintage coach purse at a consignment store that was in great shape - and genuine, great conditioned black leather. It was a steal, but there were some things I really wanted to take care of before I called it my own. It could use a cleaning and the strap was too long. If I could buff it up and punch new holes in the strap, I could make this purse awesome. I dropped in Eu's Shoe Repair (formerly Global Shoe Repair) because I had mentally filed it in my head for shoe repairs and leather cleaning. The storefront isn't much to look at. Its got a neon sign and a cluttered front window. The inside is the same, with oodles of rubber soles, accessories, boxes, and other knick knacks that make the space feel cluttered and a bit grimy. But you deal with shoes, I entitle you to be a little gritty. (Lord know I don't want to handle my shoes after a long day in them!) The guy on duty quoted me $35 for a cleaning and punching new holes. That seemed steep, and I was able to negotiate down to $30. (I still feel like this was a lot for a simple purse, but I don't have many other data points.) He gave me a ticket and told me to come back in two days. Like other reviewers have mentioned - they're not so great about managing or estimating time. My purse wasn't done. I came back the next day and we were in business - but he forgot to punch the holes. The store clerk did it for me on the spot, since it really took less than a minute. The purse looks like new, fits me much better, and I'm pretty satisfied with the job they did. But the consistent poor timing, messy store, and kind of high prices make me wonder if there are other options. read more

I brought a few pairs of shoes (shined & heels fixed) & a purse (shined) over a year ago and got excellent service & quality. I'm not sure if the owners changed, but definitely the staff did. I brought a pair of Aldo heeled booties to get the heel tips replaced. The plastic tips were already worn way down & one even lifted off the plastic heel. I paid $10 and in 2 days I went to pick up one shoe that was decent & one with an inch crack going up the edge. I'm not sure if it was cracked all the way through. But the striped casing around the heel was definitely split. Also not sure how that could have happened unless they were very rough trying to pry the heel tip off or rough hammering in the tips. Very disappointed for a simple problem. The guy said that there was a nail deep in the heel- Why? The prior heel tips were plastic with a little pole that clicked into the heel. There was a lot of filler between the heel tips & the heel. He took 10 minutes to "fix" it for me and smooth out the uneven crack. Very disappointed, guess I'll have to stick to trekking to Brooklyn Heights to the Russian cobbler, their quality & knowledge is very rare these days. read more

Originally wanted to goto Astoria Shoe Repair today but they were closed! Why?! It's not even a holiday today. Since I made the trek all the way to this part of town, I kept walking in the general direction to the metro station and kept an eye open for a shoe repair place and finally spotted EU's Shoe Repair. The sign advertises repairing zippers which I needed for my purse. It costs $10 to repair the zip piece and $40 if you wanted to remove and replace the whole zipper (including the cloth part), which would require stitching. I opted for the former. Asked if it could be done now and my bag was given back to me in about 10 minutes. The zipper replacement looks sturdy, will see how it holds up over time. read more

My favorite pair of suede boots...and they had a rip in the back. I was not very happy, or fashionable. So I looked around and found Global to repair my boots. I needed them quickly, since I was leaving for a week and all of the outfits I packed needed those boots. So I dropped my boots off on Monday morning, they needed to be restitched and I was having them put rubber heels on them so I wouldn't slide all over the place anymore. The girl who helped me said they could have them finished at the same time tomorrow, which was perfect. Tuesday morning: With suitecase in tow I go into the shop and my boots are not finished, they still need to be stitched. I am not happy. I'm already late for work and I leave directly from there for the holiday. I left, with no time to repack my clothing options, and had to pick up the boots upon my return. I did reunite with my footwear upon the new year, and they look very good. Not as good as new, but I wasn't expecting a miracle. The man I picked them up from was very very nice and attentive. Will I go back? Maybe... if I don't need a quick turnaround. read more

I have taken 1 pair of sandals and two pairs of boots for repair. Their work is OUTSTANDING (and I used to take all of my shoes to Leather Spa at the Plaza Hotel since that was close to my office). I am raving about the work done on a pair of patent leather Prada boots I have had for 12 years and still love. The zipper had split at the side seam and the patent leather on the heels was all scuffed/ripped (from hanging my heels from foot rails of bar stools, etc). They replaced the patent leather on the heels, repaired the seams on the zippers, polished the boots, they look amazing! Beautiful work and the prices are so reasonable (compared to Leather Spa). I will take all of my shoes here going forward as the results have been fantastic! Support local businesses! read more

I love this place. The man who works here is always so friendly and his prices are more than fair. He'll never try to scam you- I can't say the same for Albert's. I brought one pair of boots which needed extensive work to Albert's first and was quoted 85$ for the work. At EU I was quoted 40$ for the same work. I've had suede booties cleaned for 20$ and heel tips put on for 8$. At the most I've waited half a week to get shoes back. When I needed knew heel tips, they were done in five minutes. I'll stay a loyal customer of EU and avoid Albert's, where the cobbler is moody and overcharges. read more

This store used to be owned by someone else, and was fantastic - it was always my go-to place for shoe repairs. I continued going after the store changed / owners changed - there has definitely a decrease in the quality. I regularly need my heels fixed (the actual stiletto portion) - the last time I had my shoes repaired, they were polished, but the cracks that I needed fixed were still there - just polished over. They also polished the shoes, but the polish got inside the interior of the shoe as well - messy, which I had to ask to be cleaned. Unfortunately, will probably be looking for another go-to shoe repair shop. read more

Stay away! Horrible. I left a pair of heels with them. They lost them. I came back every month for six months only to be told "We'll call you when we find them." I finally got upset and demanded to be refunded the price of the shoes (a very modest $49!) They then told me that it was my fault for waiting six months to pick up my shoes, and said I should have kept my ticket. Some things to note: a) The first time I tried to pick up my shoes was the day they were supposed to be ready. b) I gave them my ticket when I first tried to pick them up and they'd misplaced them, making the ticket useless, which was why I hadn't kept it. It seems silly to take this to small claims court or something, but I'm so angry at being treated disrespectfully! Terrible place! Don't risk having them lose your shoes as well!!! read more

So lucky this place is in my neighborhood. Tiny almost hidden store front, but quick quality repairs! They fixed multiple pairs of shoes for me (heel, boots etc) flawlessly and fast. This is my go-to place for shoe/leather repairs! I've taken about 10 items here over the past 10 years; boots, shoes and leather bags. My most recent repair was about 3 days prior to this review. I first discovered EU's while living in Astoria and have since moved to Midwood, but I continue to trek back up whenever I have a repair. Well worth it! This is the only repair shop I've visited in the city that has consistently finished my stuff by the date specified and has never lost anything. The store interior will be too gritty for some and English is not their first language. Also, they're probably not best suited for the most fancy-schmancy of restoration projects. However, it's a very reliable place to take something broken and make it usable again; reliable, decent price and workmanship, no attitude and no mental problems. read more

This shop is very small (as in don't blink or you'll miss it!) but did a fantastic job repairing a pair of sandals for me. I purchased a sandals two years ago from Urban Outfitters and spent about $60. The upper sandal is made of brown leather and I LOVE them, but the soles of the sandals were always sub-par. (I should have known better as UO isn't known for their quality) They finally gave out, and even the heels (very small and more for support, as they are flat sandals) actually fell off completely. I took the sandals into the shop and they informed me that the soles of the shoes needed total replacement and of course a new heel needed to be added to each shoe. They did this for me for $35, which initially seemed a little pricey, but was definitely worth it considering that the alternative would have been to buy a new pair. My shoes are now comfortable, more supportive than they were in the first place, and look good as new. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone in the area. read more

The girl working there told me she only charged me for the dye and then had to charge me more while I wait for the soles to be replaced. Then I waited 45minutes while she tried to ring a credit card which never went through and I have to go back and pay cash. 3 visits for one pair of shoes, don't even waste your time. I bought a pair of boots from DSW and wearing them three times the soles on the heels were completely ruined. They were simply too cute to return so I had them resoled. It was cheaper than I thought and they had it completed in a day so overall I am very happy. I have worn them a few times since and I am happy to report they are holding up much better this time around :) read more

Really poor service. My shoes weren't ready on time - in fact, they lost them and I had to go into the back room and locate them. I asked for a discount for the inconvenience and they laughed at me. This was my second bad experience. The first time I took 3 pumps to get the heel tips replaced. One heel was wiggling the first day I wore them and fell off while I was walking and the second pair had cracks on both sides of the platform. I wanted to give them the benefit of doubt and took the same pumps back to get fixed (apparently the tips wears off pretty quickly) and 2 others. Im not sure if its the woman that works there that does the tip replacement but (poor thing) doesn't seem like she knows what she's doing. When I came to pick them up, they couldn't find them, then when they were found.... not fixed! finally picked them up again and was just very disappointed with the outcome. They fixed the crack, and the other heel for free. But the other pair had a weird hard bubble on the leather by the sole and the other one had a huge gap between the leather and sole. ugh.. so sad, my shoes are ruined and they get a bad review. read more
