However, they did not have what I was looking for our project. I had to go to an arts and crafts store in Kaisaniemi (just a mile away). But definitely this store is worth the trip. Staff was friendly and the store is located, actually in walking distance from the bus station or the main train station. Also, it's easy to find. But before you go, check if they have plenty of steps and if the store is a wheelchair accessible. Surly you can also order online. I'm not sure about the prices.

I was very excited to find that they had an entrance on the backside that allowed me to bring the stroller in as the front steps were quite steep. This is a pretty cool little spot, with stuff that's all made from folks in Helsinki. There were plenty of books, including a nice children's section, lots of clothing, the bulk of which was warm, and plenty of locally made soaps, lotions and other skin care type products. They also had A number of more eclectic items including some handmade masks - they look like something out of one of the Zelda games and while it wasn't something I was interested in, I'm sure there's a market for it in a big city! My big find here was a knit hat, after I thought I had lost my hat from Iceland. It had a delightful Hippo named Moomin on it! Immediately after I bought said hat, I found the other one, but figured it was a good thing to have around as a Momento! As with many stories like this, things are a bit on the expensive side. My net hat was €35, and well I'm all about supporting local businesses, this definitely limits the number of times in a visit I can support the local economy. It was quite a nice hat however! All said and done, this is a perfect spot, just off the Cathedral Square, where you can check out stuff that's made in the area and probably find something that you could bring back for yourself or for a loved one.
