The first time I walked in I was greeted by Pat. He was very kind, and ask if he could help us. I told him I was just looking and he stepped aside and offered to help if I needed anything. When I found what I wanted, Pat was a big help! He helped me picking out what color I wanted for the sofa, then placed my order. I had a great experience with them, until it got down to the delivery.... Jessie wasn't as helpful.... Just say! We did get out sofa the day before thanksgiving, so all is well. We purchased over 10K worth of high end furniture from Ethan Allen (EA) in Brentwood Tennessee. The sale clerks at the store recommended the Guardsman protection plan in the event we had any problems with the 2 sofas, 1 leather recliner and 1 oversized ottoman. Well, we did. The fabric on one of the sofa's ripped at the corner on the back corner and needed to be repaired. Simple fabric failure. Called the store and they told us this was absolutely covered under the protection plan, checked the actual protection plan contract and sure enough it appeared to be covered. Was actually coached by the sales clerk on what to say in the claim to ensure it was approved. Did it exactly as directed, submitted the claim with pictures and waited forever. Finally started calling and found out what a joke Guardsman customer service is. First, they make it purposely difficult to speak to a person. Second, the website provides no information. After multiple calls and emails and 3 weeks after submitting our claim I was told "fabric failure" was not covered. Went back to Ethan Allen and they advised it was covered but told me to submit the claim stating the fabric was ripped by a dog as animal accidents were covered under the 1 time lifetime warranty section - even though that is not what happened. So we tried again and again the claim was denied after waiting 5 weeks. I wish we had the money to hire a lawyer and sue but we don't. I highly recommend never purchasing a warranty through Guardsman or purchasing furniture from Ethan Allen. We have been extremely disappointed with our "high end" furniture and the fact they don't stand behind their product. The fabric ripped plain and simple and neither the warranty nor Ethan Allen will stand behind it for repair. Shoddy workmanship by Ethan Allen and even worse customer service. read more

I have a lot of experience with this company in general using various stores for over 20 years. So here's the real deal. If you want to buy anything with wood this is not the place to go the quality is lousy and the price is high. However what they are very good with is upholstered furniture. I would highly recommend getting a better quality fabric for a small up-charge then buying the lower end high dollar one such as something you may see on the floor. Some floor fabrics are nice not all are cheap but there are cheap ones and you do have to avoid those. So basically you're better off going upstairs picking out a fabric that's a better quality and you'll be fine. Problem is the prices are high so somethings they are just not worth it like the $10,000 leather sectional sofa upstairs is it just a joke. If you want a really good chair with a good fabric expect to pay 2 grand and sofa 3 and up. Problem is there's really no good high-end stores left to buy good quality furniture. This place is interesting they have a lot of junk but they have a lot of nice things too. Years ago they only had really high-end stuff but that has changed I guess to accommodate the masses but the price point just doesn't justify the quality the lower end furniture. Service is always good they actually bother me too much when I walk in there every couple of minutes they asked me do I need help once would've been fine and if I would've needed them I would've sought them out afterward. Asking me every three minutes did I find something it's just annoying. Overall if you're willing to pay you'll get a good quality upholstered chair or couch if you just look at the better fabrics. Stay away from the wood furniture it's just junk. read more

I was shocked by the lack of service and unfriendliness of the sales staff this past Saturday. My one star is because the receptionist had a warm greeting and tried twice to get us assistance. Walking through the store, we only got blank stares! No one else even said hello! Blatant racism??? I don't know but I was never treated this way at their Skokie, IL store. I'm just going to assume that these sales people have had a wonderful July and didn't need my money. read more

We purchased nearly 50 k in furniture from EA when we lived in Michigan. We loved the furniture but soon found that it did not hold up. The drawers in 2 of or dressers and our console refused to open. One of our lamps just stopped working. When we called our sales rep, Ken Wells, at the Brentwood store to have it fixed he said they do not cover it due to humidity or usage issues. These items were less than a year old!! Later, we ordered additional furniture when we moved to Franklin. It all arrived except for a rug and ottoman. We learned that Ken forgot to order the ottoman. That was understandable but disappointing. What was really frustrating was that we have waited 4 months on our family room rug. I have emailed Ken twice and called twice and he has not returned any of my calls or emails. I dont know if he forgot to order it or there is a problem- who knows!! I am completely disappointed with the level of service from this company as well as the quality of the furniture. We had an issue with a couch from restoration hardware and they were willing to pick it up within the week and replace it at no charge. We will never buy another item from this company. My dollars are better spent elsewhere! They have lost us as a customer. read more

Twenty years ago my wife and I purchased our first bedroom furniture from Ethan Allen in Baton Rouge, LA. A few weeks ago I was in the market for home office furniture and a recliner so we made a visit to the Ethan Allen store in Cool Springs. We found exactly what we wanted and had them check the inventory and fortunately everything was in stock and could be delivered in at least 4 weeks, over $5,000 purchase. After 4 weeks I called the store and was told that one of the pieces was not available and it was being manufactured in China so it would be the end of June (the purchase was made on March 30). They delivered the other pieces that were in and I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with the quality. The foot rest on the recliner is warped, the $1,500 desk is a cheap veneer. The desk drawer guides are the cheapest I've ever seen. I called the store and now that they have made a sale they don't seem to care about a customer anymore. We're having to wait on a technician to come take a look at the defects in the furniture for an adjustment. Really? This is suppose to be Ethan Allen. I will NEVER buy anything from them again. Cheap Chinese made furniture at a premium price and the sales staff is just as cheap and lousy as the furniture! read more
