On the outside this looks like it would be a lovely place and a great experience. It is nicely…read morerefurbished--however my room had bed bugs. When I woke up with serveral bites and reported it to our guides they were saying it could have been spider bites or some other bugs--but they did mention it to the manager.....but then when I came back later the same day--and laid down for half an hour, I woke up with more bites on both legs. The manager told my guides that they could have come in with the people that were in the room before, then she offered another alternative that the bugs jumped on my clothes as I was hiking down the road and I could have brought them in from the hike--REALLY??? They jumped off the asphalt, on to my clothes, then only bit me when I was in the bed in the room in her establishment. Also, she was very nasty and never even apologized that it was bug infested. They claim to offer massage because they have the facility for it--since our group was large they called in another massage therapist--and trust me I am using the term loosely. It was AWFUL! More importantly her incompetence was dangerous. All she did was pour a ton of oil on my skin--so much so that it was uncomfortable-and just slosh it around--It was a total waste of time and money. I showed her that my knee was sore and she tried to hyper extend the knee which is nuts--I am convinced this woman knew little of how to do a deep tissue massage--or any massage for that matter. I told her my feet were sore and all she did was slosh around more oil--after she tried to hyper-extend my kne,e I sat up and told her just to stop--I did not want to risk injury with 2 more days of hiking. The massage therapist did not know how to do basic stretches and to try to hyper-extend the knee is negligent. If this had happened in the US I would have reported it to a licensing agency. Do not get the massage here whatever you do--it is dangerous. The food here was sub-standard to OK--Chicken was fine as were the breakfasts--the salted cod dinner was awful--the cod was a gray color and did not taste good at all, one bite told me that a second bite would lead to sickness so I ate trail mix for dinner. There are much better places along the Camino--if you decide to stay here bring lots of bug spray. And don't sign up for the massage--there is better massage in Arzua just down the road. If there were a rating of minus stars I would have selected that--they have earned every negative comment of my factual report.
