The inedible rice
Jen M.

The rice served with my meal was completely dried out, hard, and clumpy. After I pointed it out to the waitress, they brought me some new rice along with the beans that they had forgotten to put on the plate earlier. But since there was some rice under the rest of my food it was extremely unpleasant to eat. And honestly, if they serve something that was so obviously not good - it really makes me wonder what else they consider to be ok in the kitchen. The staff was super nice so I hate to give the place a bad review, but you go to a restaurant to eat. I just can't understand why they would have even served that.

I was traveling for work and always look for good Mexican food and saw the menu online and decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did! Pros: It's a cute place Staff was polite and friendly Food was excellent Cons: None other than I was flying out and couldn't take my leftovers with me

Yummy yummy yummy. Called in a pick up order on a Saturday around 5:30, pick up wait was about 25 minutes which is perfect for us with a 20 minute drive and it was ready by the time we arrived. The Birria Pizza was phenomenal. Wow. The limes, the sauces all went with it so nicely. The meat was so tender & juicy and so much cheese. Wow. $24 for 4 people and we still had 2 leftover slices for the next day. I can't recommend this enough. Next time we definitely want to dine in & try something new! Also heads up Bring cash if you have it, there is a small fee for CC uses!

I cheated, I had already eaten a taco before I took the picture.

This place set a new standard for us when it comes to Mexican food. The experience begins with the chips and salsa...it isn't salsa at all. They serve an amazing bean and chorizo dip instead of a bowl of salsa. They do have salsa in bottles, but the dip is so amazing. The birria tacos were incredible. All the food was excellent. Overall, we felt like we were eating out of the family kitchen instead of a commercial restaurant. The service was excellent. Again, family.

Disclaimer the owner is a old coworker... heard good things and seen this on cheap eats...large restaurant and in a great area and off the street parking... really wanted to try there Mexican pizza..

Down in South O, you can expect authentic Mexican here. I would remember to bring cash when you go, sometimes they only accept cash. The customer service is great and they work hard to make sure you're a happy customer. The food is delicious and great portions(more than enough) and they usually have a great special of the day! It was two tortadas for $5. I couldn't even finish both of them, what a steal!

Best Birria Pizza ever!

Would give 10 stars if I could! My friend and I had lunch here and we were so impressed with atmosphere, staff, the service and especially the food at Estilo Jalisco! I tried the Birria Pizza, it was even better than what the other reviews said! Estilo Jalisco is for sure my new favorite authentic Mexican restaurant!

I've had better service experiences here with dine in (quick! good!) vs take out (had to wait once arriving), but never any issue with the food itself. The most popular dish here is the tacos de birria, which are birria tacos stuffed with the slow cooked juicy meat, onions, cheese and cilantro then griddle fried to create a crispy outer shell. It's then served with the consome the birria meat was cooked in- mexican dip perfection. As for other dishes on the menu I have tried, no better than the place next door for my taste. It's the birria tacos that keep me coming back for more!

Stop what you are doing right now. Go there order the Birria Pizza! ... you're welcome.

It's super cute inside, with so many bright colors, neat Día de los Muertos murals along the walls, colorful pendants strung on top of the dining area, and a very cool bar with a patterned, arched shelves. Even the dishes and cups are fabulous, with earthenware mugs, blue Talavera style dishes and bowls, and even branded El Milagro margarita glasses. Now more importantly, the FOOD is just as good as the decor and the dishware. They use extra high quality ingredients, and everything is always served hot and fresh. We have had the birria, nachos, street tacos, flautas, and so many other things when we branch out and try something new. Their drink options are also great, with strong margaritas, crisp cervesas, and tasty cocktails. The service is always fantastic, and they are always hopping with customers, so you know you found a good spot. Best of all, you get pretty large portions, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like some of the newer Mexican restaurants in town. Next time you're thinking about heading to the Texas Roadhouse area, skip the Roadhouse and try El Milagro instead! I guarantee you will not regret your decision.

However, unlike other Mexican restaurants you do have to pay for additional salsa. I went with a house margarita and the benveza beer, and both were good and cold. I went with the steak picaditas. I hadn't had them before but they were similar to a torta, except the base is a very thick corn tortilla. I like the flavor of the steak, tortilla, sour cream and veggies combined. My husband got the birria platter and liked it. It's very similar to Javi's birria. Overall everything was good.

This last visit they had the entire restaurant decorated for Valentine's Day coming up. But, besides the additional decorations the overall vibe is what you would expect for a Mexican restaurant but more. The service has been friendly and fast! The original Margarita is very good and for the price its about 3 servings. The complementary chips & salsa is great and more of a forgotten service nowadays, but great to see that Alegre is still doing it. The homemade tortilla chips are so good so be careful to not fill up on these before the main entrees. Kendra got the Chile Verde which was massive and was enough food for leftovers the next day. And, I had the Ceviche Sampler which is new and definitely worth every penny! It's hard to find restaurants that have ceviche on the menu, but this has been one of my favorites if you love seafood and a repeater for me! If your looking for more of an upscale $$ Mexican restaurant with great food, service and ambiance it's hard to beat El Muchacho Alegre.

The tacos I had were very warm and very filling, I was able to take some home for lunch the next day. The Cantarita was ok, seemed like it wasn't something that is usually made and it seemed more like it came in a bowl than the typical dish ware. The servers were very friendly and was able to help out when we had questions. The place itself was very well decorated and didn't seem cluttered. They have a lot of metallic art so that was pretty cool.

Not only is the food incredible, but the staff are the absolute best and the ambiance is very welcoming and comfortable. We started with some chips and dips, and the queso was delicious. I chose to get the carne asada for dinner and it was absolutely AMAZING. The steak was so juicy and tender, and seasoned to perfection. I was so impressed, and it was perfectly paired with some tortillas de maiz, the guacamole, and rice and beans. I would absolutely get this meal again. The place is very large and open, so you don't feel like you're walking on top of others and can have conversations without feeling like you need to yell to be heard or whisper to not be overheard. Their chips and salsa were delicious. Salsa is house made and the chips are fried to order. You get a first basket for free, but the second we had to pay for- be aware. Their tacos are amazing. I had three street tacos and then two basic hard and soft tacos. I started with the basics, and was very impressed. The meat was nice and flavorful and somehow seemed....soft? I was initially bummed looking at them because I thought "just lettuce and meat?" But there's some fantastic cheese hidden under the lettuce. The shells were the perfect soft and a crunch. I would love to just have a few of these for the meal and be good! I had the three street tacos- steak, pastor, and carnitas. I was pleased with all three! They were flavorful, moist, and the shells were once again perfect. I very much enjoyed the steak and they had just the right amount of crisp with all of the flavor. You can tell that all of these were made fresh to order. Their house margs were wonderful. They weren't too sweet and you got more than you imagined. When we got the bill, it's noted that there's a discount if you pay with cash, but no added fee for paying with a card; so keep that in mind.
