The veterinarian that handled Diego's final care arranged for his cremation through Esthima. It was my first experience with the service that they provided. **Trigger warning: some sensitive issues that deal with the death of a beloved pet.
With prior cremations, the ashes were delivered back to the vet, where we had to pick them up. Esthima provided additional services, including a chance to spend some final moments with Diego's remains, which was akin to a wake. We were in a private room and given all the time we wanted. We were also given the option to watch his cremation, which we declined.
We had to wait for 1.5 hours and then were given his ashes in a box of our choice (we paid an additional fee for a nicer box where we could place his photo.) For additional fee, you can choose a a wide range urns, vessels, etc. You can also obtain a paw print, which we purchased, and a bit of hair (we had already been given some by his treating vet.)
The staff was kind, gentle, and respectful. It has been a very difficult time but the process of being able to say a final goodbye did help with the grieving process. I am grateful to the staff at Esthima and for giving Diego a lovely service. read more
