We found the best rose petal candy we've ever had--so good we had to go back for more to bring home with us. The nuts and spice mixes are divine, and we wish we had bought more of those. This store has variety, incredible quality, and friendly and helpful staff. Our limited French was not a problem at all, as staff weighed and priced items for us. With all the cultural riches and culinary delights that Marseilles has to offer, this store is a universe unto itself that must be visited and explored to be appreciated. Thank you, Saladin, for being such an outstanding representative of Mediterranean cuisine and especially Arabic culture!

If you live in Marseilles, you will make this a weekly stop at the market. You will not be able to leave empty handed either way. Spices, nuts, fruits, dried fruits, oils, soaps, and other specialties mainly from Europe and North Africa, and some from India. Very large selection. Fair prices. Very friendly proprietor. Anyone who loves food, scents and the small, beautiful things in life will adore this shop.

This is a cute and inviting little shop that sells interesting and delicious jams, confitures,…read moremarmalades, sweet spreads, and varietal honeys, etc. etc. The proprietor was friendly and helpful, explaining in French where different fruits came from and the kinds of shrubs and trees in individual honeys. This is a great place to find rosemary honey [not infused but from rosemary pollen], thyme honey, honey from Corsican maquis, bruyère, garrigue...] and there are tasters out for everything so you can get a sample before buying. I think of this beautiful region, and this shop, whenever I put some Provençal honey on my tartine in the morning!

We walked through beautiful streets lined with many market tables with all types of merchandise. Then we walked to a lovely pedestrian street lined with quaint shops. One of those was Leonard Parli. Here they sell the traditional calissons. They are a tiny confection in a unique little container. The calissons are delightful, made from almonds, fruit, and sugar. The confection as well as their packaging are in a marquise shape. From there, we walked on to even more interesting market stands selling lavendar, provencal herbs, vegetables, fruits, and gift items. What a delightful and lovely city on the Mediterranean coast of France!
