I went to a seminar that Dean Park held, and learned lots about estate planning. I was looking forward to working with Dean to get my trust and will written up and have my family prepped. I made this appt 6+ weeks in advance, since Dean says he fills up quickly. I have it noted down across multiple calendars (work and personal), but somehow I got the times mixed up and I missed it. I got a call from the receptionist to reschedule if I couldn't make it, and when I called her back, she argues with me saying there is no time slot available for the time I have noted in my calendar (so essentially saying I got the time wrong), and continues to give me an attitude as we're trying to find another date to reschedule. I decided not to reschedule my appt and will go to another firm to get this done. The receptionist's attitude was unnecessary and unprofessional. Take your business and take care of your family, with another firm that respects you. read more

I went to a seminar from these guys and was pretty impressed. But I was really disappointed in them when I used their website contact form to contact them. Everything was logged and it said my message was received, but I didn't get a phone call back at all even though their website says someone will contact you within one business day. So I called them by phone and spoke to someone there and said I was hoping to get a call back to get some information. They said they would call back. No calls at all. I don't think any business is worth me having to chase them to get them to even call me back. They might be good, they might be bad, I guess I'll never know since I found someone else to do our estate plan. I don't leave low reviews very often, but I figure twice was enough for me to try. I'm leaving 2 stars instead of 1 since their seminar was helpful. read more

There is no shortage of lawyers and companies that can draft a trust for you. But if you're like my husband and I, and was totally clueless about how trusts really work, then I highly suggest Estate Planning Group Hawaii. They offer free consultations either through group seminars or (as we did it) one on one with the lawyer. We met with Mr. Dean Park, one of the two lawyers in this office. He is very patient, friendly, knowledgable, approachable AND available to us. He always got back to our calls or emails within the day, before and after we became his clients. And Mr. Park, on his own time, graciously met with us and our accountant so that we could all be on the same page. Nice! we interviewed a couple other lawyers before going with Estate Planning Group. Although these other firms cost less and were just as friendly and approachable we felt that Estate Planning group presented themselves extremely professionally and thoroughly. In the end, their affiliations & approach to estate planning best represented our family and what we were trying to accomplish. Estate planning is not for just the "rich" or entitled. A friend referred me to Estate Planning Partners (name change but still great service) and I was extremely happy with their service. I met with Michelle Ogata (through Zoom which was convenient) a few times to gather Information. Michelle is very knowledgeable, patient and easy to work with. She was able to establish a Trust Agreement for my parents as well as for my husband and me. She was very prompt when replying to emails, answered all questions and extremely helpful. The cost was very reasonable too. Once everything was completed, they provided a flash drive and a binder with all paperwork included. Complete waste of time over a 7 month experience. They were condescending, disrespectful of time, used pressure tactics and refused to allow others to review their documents and ultimately failed to produce. Run from any lawyer that uses pressure tactics and does not have transparency in the documents. read more

We contacted Mr. Dean Park after looking at reviews for attorneys in general and trust attorneys in particular. We can't say enough good things about Dean. He is very friendly, patient, returns calls promptly and makes you feel at home. We moved back to HI in October last year and wanted to have our trusts and wills that were prepared in NV reviewed to be sure that our documents and wishes were in compliance with Hawaii law. We also knew of some changes that we wanted to make. Dean took the time to review our 2 trusts, wills and medical documents when we met in his office, answered our questions and provided options for us to consider for our planned changes, fully explaining the advantages of each option. We decided to move forward and Dean was able to complete our new/revised documents in a timely manner. We met with Dean a second time to review and execute our trusts, wills, powers of attorney and health documents. Within a week all of our documents were notarized and Dean also provided a CD containing all our documents, a nice touch.
