Ashley is an amazing therapist as well as a genuine person. I try and book with her at least twice a month.

As a establishment it shouldn't be on the customer to have to request a male or female massage therapist preference. Other establishments have no problem asking. It's not a big cost to simply ask the client they're preference when making an appointment. If this establishment is not willing to take the measure to make sure all of their clients are comfortable and satisfied then I definitely would not recommend or return. read more

Wonderful experience overall! Booked a double massage with my mother and when we walked in she was nervous about getting two male massage therapist. After expressing her nervousness, they let her customize her massage where she would lay on her belly the whole time and only massage her back and feet. When the massage was done, she was so impressed she wished she let him do the full body massage. I received my massage from Ryan and he was also AMAZING. I can't say enough good things about Essence! I recently visited Myrtle Beach for 2 weeks (Fall of 2021) and ended up going there 3 times for different services! This is my third experience with Essence in 4 years though...I live in NY, but try to make it whenever I can. 90 minute massage with Ryan--I melted into the massage table this entire time. I've had massages from Ryan before in previous visits, so I knew I had to see him again! He has a wonderfully calm and relaxing demeanor, and a firm-yet-gentle touch. Outstanding massage! Swedish Signature Scrub and (separately) Hydrafacial, both with Ashley--This was the first time I've had any services from Ashley. I was hesitant because I knew I liked Ryan's massage so much, but I also wanted to experience someone else. I was not disappointed!!! Ashley was sweet, knowledgeable, and professional...and gave an incredible massage to boot! The Swedish Signature Scrub (massage, facial, and foot scrub/massage) was a 2-hour service of heaven. I was sooooo relaxed, head to toe. The Hydrafacial was an interesting experience...I didn't know what to expect, but Ashley walked me through everything (per my request) and it was wonderful! My skin was so hydrated and fresh feeling when I was done. The spa was clean and clients are vetted for any symptoms of sickness before going, so I felt as safe as possible going there. I've received dozens of massages (maybe even hundreds??) from different people in my life and I can honestly say Ryan and Ashley are two of my all-time favorites! Essence is an adorable, little spa, and I tell anyone that I know who goes to Myrtle Beach about it. I found a great deal for a couples massage on Groupon. When I arrived for my appointment which I scheduled a month prior, I was told that I cancelled my appointment - which wasn't true. They had already scheduled someone else in my place. They told me that I left a voicemail to reschedule- again not true. I asked to hear the voicemail which they couldn't produce and the phone number they claim the call came from was not my number. I enjoyed the massage but not so much the hassle of getting it done. And I expected someone to apologize for the inconvenience of it all which I didn't receive. I won't go back. Absolutely horrible!! Wish I could give it zero stars! The esthetician has no idea what she was doing when she gave me a facial. My face had a Horrible reaction to the crud that she put all over my face and I had to go to the doctor and get several anti-histamine's to calm down what she did. When I contacted the owner to get even a partial refund, the owner refused and became very aggressive through text. I wish I would've saved the text to upload here.
