Also, when I came in I waited at the cashier to order for probably 2-3 minutes before someone even acknowledged me (there were 3 people working making coffee right in front of me), so I was starting to think that I was standing at the wrong place to order! The flat white and banana bread which I had here were both ok, but nothing amazing. Overall, would probably return since it's close to where I live but wouldn't be my first choice.

I already had two cappuccino drinks so I chose to try out the Kakao (hot chocolate). It was made with oat milk. The drink was not too sweet, but it also did not have that strong cocoa flavor I prefer. It was not a thick type of hot chocolate either. But I understand. This place is known for their coffee. This location is not as cozy as the newer one. But we still enjoyed. And five stars for being dog friendly!

Today, he and I went to grab a coffee to go and he decided after we had ordered the coffee that he would like a sandwich as well. We grab our "to go" order and as we are heading to leave, my husband changed his mind and decided he'd like to eat the sandwich before we left. After sitting down, in a fairly empty cafe, we were approached by the server somewhat aggressively and told that we were "not allowed" to sit inside the cafe with our to go orders and must leave as it violated their policy. This as one can imagine drew the attention of everyone inside the cafe, to our embarrassment. So, take note, you can spend 20 euro on coffee and sandwiches but if you happen to order them "to go" then you are, by policy, required to go or face being asked to leave.

I enjoy the location when I just want to have a coffee outside of my house and surf the internet without the crowded atmosphere of a Starbuck's which is not only a tourist trap in this town, but the free wifi can be slow and good luck finding a place to sit on a beautiful afternoon. World Coffee is more a neighborhood convenience than it is a must go to spot and it is right off the U3, so one can drop in for a drink and jump on the train that runs to either Landungsbrücken, Rathaus, Sternschanze (Schanzenviertel) or even St. Pauli/Reeperbahn.

The light roasted beans a la a roastery in Sweden (naturally!) make for a slightly-sour-never-bitter cup and I, for one, am quite glad about that. The flat white is made with a lactose-rich milk that produces a lovely sweet flavour when heated correctly. The espresso macchiato (aka noisette in Parisian third wave joints) is made with a 'usual milk' and the drink is tinged with a sour note. We then ordered an Aeropress and were presented with *thee* most choice one could ever hope for! I think the selection was upwards of twelve different roasts! Qual der Wahl, baby. Some of the roasts were meant to ape various black tea varieties. Eric chose an African bean, Kamigeri, and was quite pleased with both the aroma and flavour. -a hint of black tea, orange and currant. The young man behind the counter was very enthusiastic, friendly and didn't assume that one didn't know a fig about coffee. -could be due in part to his having only been on the job for approximately two weeks on our visit. This made for a friendly exchange when ordering. Winterhude, the area in which SEC is located, is also in and of itself worth a visit. For those out-of-towners keen to visit H.H., I would strongly encourage not only a trip out of the usual destinations like Reeperbahn & the Harbor, but a trip specifically up to Winterhude with a stop or more in Eimsbüttel as well.
