I'll admit, it's pretty daunting to pick up riding as an adult. It's *a lot* to learn! But I appreciate and love how DaNae motivates and challenges me each time I'm there. The facility is so beautiful and it's a huge perk to have a covered arena! And if we can't ride on rare occasions, we've got educational lessons. Everyone I've met at the facility has been welcoming. And I've also been really lucky to take my lessons with a great group of girls. I recently heard that DaNae purchased the property and it's so clear that she's putting so much love into the space. I can only anticipate positive changes ahead. Looking forward to continuing my riding lessons and can't wait to see how much I'll learn in time. Who knows...maybe I'll have a horse of my own and board it at Los Lagos someday!

My granddaughter and I chose the two-hour trail ride around Folsom Lake, and it exceeded every expectation. I've owned horses and have ridden extensively, so we came with experience and simply wanted to enjoy a beautiful morning ride together. Our guide, Will, was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, personable, safety-conscious, and made the entire experience relaxing and enjoyable. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does and cares about both the horses and his guests. The horses were well-mannered, the scenery around Folsom Lake was breathtaking, and the pace was perfect for taking it all in. The best part? The smile never left my granddaughter's face all day. Those are the kinds of memories that last a lifetime. Thank you, Will, for making our ride so special. We highly recommend Boarding on the Lake and can't wait to come back!

The trainer who worked with us, Amy, is incredibly patient and kind. Her teaching style is so thorough and clear. She and the other trainers stress horsemanship -- you learn how to get your horse, tack them up, and you learn about the anatomy of the horse and so much more. It's not just a lesson where you jump on an already tacked up horse, ride, and go home. You truly get the full experience and the goal is to prepare you for a day when you might own your very own horse. The barn has a very welcoming and relaxed feel, everyone is so kind and wonderful. The lesson horses are also great! Whether you're an adult looking for lessons or you have kids who want to take lessons, I would definitely recommend checking out this place and trying it out. It's also amazing that they have access to Folsom Lake trails.

She went at exactly the right pace of learning for us. Amber introduced us to new goals each week, including intro to dressage and trotting over low barriers. Amber is fun, her training horses are sweet, and the equestrian center is well groomed.

I tried to be patient because the owners are very nice, but at the end of the day I wasted a lot of money and wasted a year of lessons for my daughter. I paid for an hour lesson and sometimes my daughter would be on a horse for 20 minutes!!! when I called the owner on it, she told me it wasn't quantity but quality that mattered. I happened to disagree, if I am paying for an hour lesson, I expect my child to be on a horse for an hour. She also got very little guidance in grooming and tacking, had to do it mostly on her own, which didn't help with her confidence in the process. Finally, they have very few riding horses and kept her on their Welsh pony Molly for a year. Now that she is at a professional riding facility, she is very unprepared to ride a real horse and has to start as a beginner due to her lack of confidence. I have also found myself alone, with no adult nor responsible person on the facility and two children waiting for a lesson. The owners are very laid back and do not seem to get involved with their students personally, they are more interested in their own performances but happy to send you an invoice that they may not be able to honor. I do not recommend this facility, it was a waste of time and money for our family.

The owner was riding my horse, training him and taking care of him completely. After paying $750 for five years, after one month, she "put him out to pasture", which lessened my bill from $750 to $300. He dropped several hundreds of pounds in weight, due to the fact that he was super, super passive- she knew this about him. She called me and told me he wasn't getting any food because the other horses were overbearing and he was overly passive. There was nothing I could do as I'd moved out of state and was working on having him shipped back east. She did nothing to isolate him so he could get some food for himself and watched him starve. I owe her $300. She neglected my horse and starved him after having him on her property for years over a $300 bill. I had moved out of state and told her I needed her to make sure he got on the trailer I'd scheduled for him. She refused. She told me (after taking care of my horse for 5 years) that she refused to show up for a trailer, that she "didn't do that" ... and that I'd have to be there, or schedule someone else to show up and meet with the driver. Of course, in the end, she was there .... of course .. she was there. She made me schedule another person to be there, but, of course, she was there, looking for her $300. I had my boyfriend's mother meet the driver, whom knew nothing about horses, but she agreed to help me because Lakeside told me she would not meet the driver. The owner of this "equestrian center" put my horse on a trailer and refused to send him off with any hay (FOOD). I was unaware that the man driving my horse, would not provide food for him. It was my responsibility to feed him. Lakeside, though she was there, even though she told me she would not be there, did not call me and tell me she was sending him off on a 3,500 mile trailer ride without any food. From California to the east coast of the country. The driver told Lakeside Equestrian Center this and she could have very easily sent him off with two bales of hay- my mother n law would have paid her for them. But no, she didn't. She put him on the trailer with zero food, on a trip from California to the east coast. He was on the road for almost two weeks, with no food. Not sure how the driver or Lakeside can just watch a horse starve. Horrible, horrible, just really horrible. When he arrived on the east coast, he was very thin- I was surprised he was still alive. I worked for months to put weight on him. Never board your horse where money is the main priority. Eventually, you will pay the price ten times over.
