Just left Esencia, it was my second visit, but not my last. I almost hate to tell you how wonderful it is, because it is so small, I don't want competition for the rooms. This is my idea of a luxury resort, small and focused on your every need. The beach is beautiful, quiet, with Cabanas for all guests - no extra charge. The food is fresh, local, and amazing. Esencia completely exceeded our expectations. We spent this year's holidays in December there and couldn't have asked for better service/location/overall beauty. We are absolutely in love with it. The beach is the most beautiful in the region. We managed to completely relax and unwind from our stressful NYC life. We have a two-year-old daughter and the hotel was perfect for us. It's very quiet yet perfect for kids. There are two swimming pools almost right on the beach so you can easily switch between beach/pool for a perfect relaxing daytime experience. When we wanted a night out we drove to Tulum but were always very happy to return to the peace and quiet of Esencia. We will definitely come back! read more

Third time at Hotel Esencia Playa del Carmen for a stunning wedding. Only four hours from San Francisco and New York. Kevin and Sebastian have thought of everything to make you comfortable. Perfect rooms, delicious food + drinks from two restaurants and multiple bars. Full spa, super chill two pools and beach with service.
