Ernie showed up on time at our designated spot. He was enthusiastic and friendly. We knew right away it was going to be a great tour. We didn't pay for a private tour but it ended up just being my wife and I , so it was a private tour. He is extremely knowledgeable about the city and made the tour fun. He took us to several cemeteries and gave us plenty of opportunities to ask as many questions as possible. Would go on other tours with him and recommend him. Ernie is a local with a lot of great knowledge about the city and the area. We took the cemetery tour at 10:30 and it was great! We are locals and we learned things about why the streets are named certain things, how the residents of New Orleans were buried and where. Our pick of Ernie's Tour was a random Groupon picking, but we totally lucked out & had the greatest time. It started with a 10 am text message with a reminder of the tour start time & location. We were a party of 2 in a group of 6, which made the experience very personal. He was very knowledgeable in NOLA history & encouraged & answered any questions we had. It was a 10:30 - 12:30 tour but it was a hot & sunny 90° & Ernie made sure to try to stay in the shade as much as possible, as well as utilize the visitor center not only for the NOLA map but for the air conditioner!! His knowledge of the cemetery, those buried in it and the burial process was very exceptional. His presentation of the material, including his sense of humor, completed the whole experience Bottom line - book this tour! We booked a tour with Ernie for our NOLA vacation and were fortunately enough to be the only couple on the tour. Unlike another (very expensive) tour we booked, Ernie didn't cancel on us, but instead took us on a 2 person tour so we were fortunate enough to have him all to ourselves. Ernie certainly has a passion for the history of New Orleans, and the tour was very informative. You can absolutely tell that Ernie loves the city. It is evident, as well, that Ernie knows everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE) in the French Quarter, and, like a pro, he's able to work even THAT into the tour. When an exterminator drives by and slows to say hi to Ernie, Ernie waves back and, without missing a step, pointed out to us the metal plates in the sidewalk that are there for termite treatment which buildings are required to have (it was more interesting that I'm making it out to be, trust me.) He's also a really funny guy and manages to pack in a LOT of history while managing to not sound like he's told the story a million times before. After our tour, Ernie was very nice and helped us locate our next appointment and made some recommendations as well. Ernie also helpfully emails you a list of books that he mentions on the tour if you want to do further reading after the tour concludes. Highly recommended! read more

Ok, so we didn't know you had to be a part of a tour to get into the cemeteries in NOLA and were seriously disappointed after walking to Saint Louis 1 in the heat. We hopped on Groupon and found Ernie's and figured "who cares if it sucks at least it will get us in to what we want to see". Well let me tell you, Ernie is amazing! Very friendly with the best laugh I have ever heard. He was informative, entertaining without being over the top, lively, and you could tell he has a real passion for the history of the town as opposed to just someone reciting a script for work. Ernie is the best tour guide in the entire city! I lived in New Orleans for a few years and every time someone would visit, I would take them on Ernie's tour. So I have been on about 15+ tours with Ernie and I love each and every time I go. I even flew in to New Orleans for a visit about 2 weeks ago...and booked a tour with him. Horrible! Do not get him. I came all the way from NY. Booked him. I showed up at 10:30am. He was a no show no call. I called him over 10 times he never picked up. Emailed him. No answer. I was so upset because I had my whole day planned out. Now I don't even know what to do. I then called him from a different number to see if he picked up and he did.
