Taking a weekend stroll through pretty Pimlico side streets, I chanced upon this lovely jewellery…read moreshowcase. The shop is dedicated to promoting a range of creations from individual designers. Items are beautifully and practically displayed in large, practical flat glass units. It's a gorgeous and enticing place to have a leisurely browse; like me, you're bound to be tempted by many pretty things: rings, brooches, earrings, bracelets, pendants - a veritable magpie's delight. Prices range - widely - according to the item, designer and materials used. I liked the fact that I was 'allowed' to explore freely and un-pushy help was offered when I asked for information. I also especially appreciated the fact that it's possible to design and get your own creation made-up here - particularly useful if you have a very distinct idea in mind and can't find exactly what you're looking for, or if - like me - you want to replace a single lost earring (part of a favourite pair).

Omnia causa fiunt! It means everything happens for a reason in Latin. I did not know this gallery…read moreexisted even though I passed this street for the nth time. The bus stop outside Pimlico station was not in use on that day. I had to walk to my hairdresser's which is located about 5-10 minutes from the station. On my way back to Pimlico station I somehow felt that I had to go into this shop. Firstly I checked that it was opened and there was someone in the shop. The shop assistant greeted me when I entered the shop. The shop displays works from independent designers with contrasting styles and concepts. Seriously. I was looking through some very peculiar jewellery works when the shop assistant interrupted to ask me if I needed help. I said, "No. I am just looking around and I will get you if I need any help." That was my way of getting some peaceful and enjoyable browsing. After a while of deafening silence except for the background music, the shop assistant started talking to me when I was looking at the felt works of Rose Revitt, http://roserevitt.blogspot.co.uk/ He then showed me the rabbit's @$$ felt brooch by Rose Revitt. It is an interesting idea of wearing a rabbit's @$$ as a brooch. I would definitely wear it when I am not working. I always talk to strangers and it is very natural for people to tell me about themselves. The shop assistant turned out to be a jewellery designer, Leonid Dementiev. His website is http://www.dementievleonid.com/ He showed me his works which were also on display in the shop. His rings and earrings designs were inspired by the waves. They were simple and unique. There were also works on display at the counter. It was there that I found something familiar that I once lost...It was a necklace with a pendant made from a bottle cap. The pendant has the painting of the Cherubs from Raphael's Sistine Madonna. I bought the necklace costing about £30. I once had a magnet of the Cherubs but I lost it when I moved. After so many years, I only saw the Cherubs again last year, in my accommodation in Venice, Italy. I believe that seeing the Cherubs was a sign of something good. Perhaps it will reveal itself to me in time...

Monica Vinader - The Monica Vinader store on South Molton Street

I originally went to the Monica Vinader concession inside Liberty (my heaven), but they referred me…read moreto the Molton Street store since Liberty didn't have my size in the rings I wanted. Due to work, I very rarely wear a lot of jewelry. At minimum, I'll wear diamond studs or pearl earrings, a simple necklace and a wristwatch. Also because I tend to have sensitive skin, I can't wear a lot of trendy or costume jewelry, so I have to stick to precious metals. Therefore, I gravitate towards classics pieces with unique characteristics. Monica Vinader's pieces are globally inspired, and her siren stacked rings speak to me. I have some of the world's daintiest hands (my piano teachers reminded me of that at every lesson), and her jewelry are so effortlessly classic, beautiful, delicate and unique. I came in originally looking to buy a couple of rings. However, after trying a few combinations with the help of the boutique manager, I ended up leaving with three... Oops. The boutique is impeccable, and they have most of the standard sizes in stock. Custom sizes take 6-8 weeks to order and there is a £10 fee. I contemplated getting a half size up, but decided getting one size up for my middle finger was actually perfect, and the other two rings for my ring finger a size smaller. Service was friendly and most helpful - like the trivial question of which looks better on olive skin: yellow or rose gold? The boutique manager actually suggested mixing the yellow and rose gold on my skin, which actually work. Delighted with my purchases, and I definitely won't hesitate to return for future indulgences.
