Other agents didn't take us seriously and even though we had a loan approval, we still had difficulty setting up appointments with other agents. It took a lot of time sorting through the ones that we wanted since most websites didn't offer the filter options we were looking to have with our new home. Finally, we met Ken at a listing that we were interested in. The agent had her lead listing agent show us the property. Ken showed up on time, messaged me via text and was very accommodating to the appointment time change. We walked through the property and he then explained to us what the difference of this particular property in comparison to other active listings. He then went into explaining the process of home buying, the loan, contingencies, deadlines, etc. It just seemed at that moment, we were comfortable. It was a brief conversation but his approach fit ours. We didn't want someone hovering us while we roamed around the property. We wanted someone who was going to give us our space; let us feel the property. We wanted someone that was going to answer all our questions, but not overload us. We wanted someone who was going to summarize what we really needed to know. Before we officially started to work with him, we had a few agents contact us. To be fair, we asked everyone of them the same set of questions. Ken's answers put him over the top. With a military background, he understands the meaning of organization, and being prompt. As a teacher, I need these two components when working with people - especially with such a large purchase as home buying! In addition, he has property experience with construction management, which ensured us that we were working with someone who was more than just an agent but someone who was familiar with the bones of the property. And then the adventure began! Almost every weekend and occasional week days/evenings, we met Ken at our properties that we were interested in and found or the ones that he found. He provided us a list of filtered options. We mostly found ours off of other websites or apps. He would take care of contacting the agents and setting up appointments. This made the home shopping experience ten-thousand times easier than when we were doing it on our own. We went through a few offers that fell through but it didn't matter. Ken was by our side, gave advice, and a lot of comfort. As a first time home buyer, we were obviously faced with a whirlwind of emotions. Ken made sure that we were making the decision that was right for us; not the buyer. He made sure that we weren't overextending ourselves just because we loved a place.
