Second hand - cheap, smart, and for a good cause!…read more Nice second hand shops are still rare in Germany, and plenty of my friends here would rather pay 300€ on a new shirt than buy the same one for 30€ - knowing that it belonged to someone else. I could never understand their reluctancy, seeing as even "new" shirts have been tried on several times in fitting rooms, and you can always just wash your clothes after buying them... Oh well, more left for me then! Vinty's is a recently opened second hand store in Erlangen, and the entire concept is simply brilliant! It's situated in the Friedrichsstraße, just a few metres off the main road, in a huge 350m² large shop consisting of just one room packed with clothes rails full of clothes. And there's a small coffee bar serving coffee and tea. The clothes themselves range from fancy dress, proper "retro" vintage clothes (60s, anyone?), casual clothes, kids clothes, shoes, accessoires and many more, and can be bougth at relatively cheap prices. You can also donate your clothes, as long as they are in good condition! Which leads us to the best part: Not only does second hand fashion make good economical and ecological sense, but it's all in the name of charity as well. The philosophy is built on people volunteering their time and clothes, and the proceeds go directly to development projects all around the world. Bottom line: * Huge second hand shop packed with clothes * Cheap, huge variety, and friendly staff * All for a good cause * Definitely one of my favourite new shopping spots!!

So, I went to the DM in the Arcaden and found it there. I also grabbed a few bits and pieces from other shops while I was there, it was very convenient.

Because these huge places just kill the local mom&pop stores by relocating the main shopping mile indoors, with AC & WiFi. Sure, larger cities can survive the process of having their many shopping mile relocated, but smaller ones? Not really. The assortment of stores is pretty much the same in every location, they have their mix of brands & food chains without anything really appealing. Good if you're a fan of malls, bad if you like choice or local flavour. On a plus side, they just made the place dog friendly, by adding water & food bowls in the basement - which i've never seen with food or water in them. Way to go!

Anything you need to continue in a good summer vibe is on sale. We also stopped in @Dinea restaurant where they were serving a variety of cold & hot foods as well as plenty of beverages. Not too, many folks here taking advantage of the sales. For once they have the current season's merchandise on sale and not the shop worm old stuff from previous seasons. Leave the old stuff for the cheap resellers. With the fluctuation of the euro these days the sales offers seem a bit more attractive. Although, not so much if you come from America where great sales started a more than s month ago on everything including top designers from A to Z. Whilst, perfumes are usually not on sale one can find exclusive summer offers. TAKE NOTE Galeria, Karstadt, Peek & Cloppenburg from America's prestigious department stores like Barney's New York, Bergdorff Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom's Sak's Fith Avenue to name a few. Now all these store ship abroad for a small flat rate (no duties).

I mean, honestly - you can even buy plane tickets here! And cutlery! And I didn't even mention the toys department yet! This place is brilliant! The staff - not so much! Lots of grumpy old ladies whose only pastime seems to be hating you for daring to approach them at their cash desk. Sadly though, this giant department store seems to be a little out of it's time. The only people who seem to frequent it nowadays, apart from the moody staff, are the older generation who remember its glorious days. Germany used to be full of these department stores that had everything you could wish for. Sadly though, due to online shopping and super-sized malls, these places, like Galeria Kaufhof, are a dying breed. Although I can clearly remember doing our entire Christmas shopping here, with the whole family, I haven't been here in 2-3 years. Walking through this place yesterday sparked old memories of a time where you had to go to places like these, instead of being able to buy everything by using a smartphone. After all, amazon has all these useful reviews (and we do like our reviews, don't we?) and you don't have to deal with the grumpy old cashier woman. Basics - Cheap - Love it!…read more Although this shop is perfect in its location, with the big mall across the road and plenty of fancy shops to the right, this place is usually 'overlooked' by most shoppers in Erlangen, as it doesn't sell any of the trendy brands. But being a person who prefers quality over brand name, and cheap prices over ridiculously expensive trash, I love this shop! You get all the basics you could ever need, from trousers and shirts to sweaters and jackets, all at ridiculously low prices. I still own sweatshirts that I bought the day this shop opened, and they look almost brand new, while my more expensive clothes often end up in the bin after mere five months. Bottom line: * All the basic clothes you might need * Great quality * Cheap prices * Perfect location!

What a great shop! I go in and always find what I am looking for! They have food, drinks, games,…read moreoffice supplies etc! But, it can be like a maze sometimes and I always end up having to ask a member of staff for directions for at least one item that I can't find on my shopping list! I was lucky recently and found everything I wanted within minutes and didn't have to ask anyone for help hahaha! Mueller is a really big shop and I usually find most things that I am looking for here! Sometimes I find it too big and I end up being exhausted after shopping here. I like it though. The staff are always friendly and accomodating!

You know those flea markets where there are more professional vendors than actual private sellers?…read more- not here! This is the best flea market I know, exactly for that reason. You will find students who have obviously decluttered their flats, kids sitting on the ground selling their toys, moms selling their crockery (the one they always hated but had to keep for the sake of peace with their in-laws), few professional vendors, though even their stuff is pretty epic. All in all it's a great occasion to find things that you know you don't need but they only cost 50ct, so you just have to buy them! The market takes place every first Saturday of a month - but it gets so ridiculously crowded, as if people are giving away stuff for free! So make sure you get here early! Bottom line: * private sellers instead of professional spoon and toothbrush sellers... * epic! *Gets very crowded!

Pathetic Recent Events!! I was always buying from this place…read morebut recently faced many issues. 1. They denied to take the unopened/unused product back. They have a return policy of 28 days and I was returning the product in 2 days. 2. Billing issues. They charge you sometimes double or will have some other billing issues. So check your bill before you leave the billing counter. 3. staff will always kind of follow you when you are looking at things. Makes you feel pathetic being a foreigner. 4. Some products are duplicate and cheap. They say that they have a warranty but original brands deny to service the product. 5. Many times they denied to sell the sale items at the billing counter and tell you thats not in sale. THATS REALLY WIERD!! May be they don't like foreigners or just me.
