I have been on 2 cooking vacations this year. Each experience was 5 star. David and his staff did a great job with the reservations, the cooking g was magnificent and our hosts were committed to making our stay the best. Booked a Andalusia, Spain tour in October with Edible Destinations. Had never done this type of trip before. Came across an email talking about Edible Destinations tours. Did some research and found no warnings about company. Booked the trip and about a month out contacted Mike and asked about a finalized itenarary. He stated we are working on it will have by end of week. Should have been my first sign. Got the itenerary and hotels had changed but that seemed minor. About two days before we left on tour got urgent email asking for some verifications of info and giving name and contact info for our guide. Arrived in Malaga, Spain and could not find our guide he was not with the rest of the tour operators. Another sign. Called hi on cell phone and he answered and was literally 20 feet away. His only sign was an 8 X 11 sheet of paper with Epitourean written on it. Another sign. He was totally confused and in panic mode. Another sign. later found out he was literally hired the day before. Is it adding up? Got on bus after we gathered up everyone else. Got to hotel and it was a true 5 star. everyone got checked in to rooms. We met that evening a got a short walking tour of Malaga as we walked to restaurant. Wonderful experience. The next morning was the beginning of nothing being as advertised. eventually got to every place we were supposed to visit but nothing was as promised. Were supposed to have atapas and wine tasting at a vineyard and see the process got cheese and ham and a glass of wine. Every day was the same confusion. Oscar our guide was doing most of the coordinating on his own, trying to make sure that we received what was promised. On the second day I emailed Mike about our difficulties and didn't receive a reply until end of trip. Several other members of the group were doing the same and were being ignored. One of the group was a travel agent and she started working the phones, just what you want to do on vacation. but things never did get better. Oscar took us to other places not on itenerary these were highlights of trip. $10,000 in funds spent plus airfare and incidentals and no one seems to care. It is my understanding in talking to Oscar several weeks after the trip he had still not been paid. Edible Destinations happily pointed to the small print that the were not liable for short comings of their foreign partners. The did offer a small partial refund and a voucher for a discount on a future trip. Would I book another trip with Edidble Destinations by Epitourean? Not for free or if they paid me. I booked an Epitourean pkg to Napa this summer. It was quite expensive and did not deliver on the "gourmet cooking lesson". I notified the rep upon my return that I was unhappy and why. They promised answers within a week. After a two week lapse, I politely contacted them again. Again they promised an answer with in a week. I can only surmise that they have no explanation as to why the Gourmet cooking experience costing $225 was lackluster and average. In a foodie capital, no less. Also, a restaurant booked through them pretty much treated us as if we knew nothing about food and gave us indifferent service. Made us wonder if Epitourean had paid them promptly for bookings. Make sure to YELP any provider that Epitourean recommends, and if you see NO Reviews, you will know it's because it is an experience that you don't want. Recently completed the "Ultimate Napa Foodie Getaway" which we booked through Epitourean. The trip was fine but I would advise those considering this trip to spend an hour on line and book all the arrangements direct. This is not a "tour" per say so much as a self directed trip with appointments made by Epitourean. All the events are easily accessible to reserve on line and you will save yourself 30%. Also, if you are going to do a lot of wine touring the Andaz in Napa is not a great location. You can do better staying further north in Rutherford, Yountville, or St. Helena. Finally, I would skip Bottega unless you are into really rich, heavy food. We were in San Fran and Napa for a week and this was our least favorite dinner. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could, the whole trip was not what they said it would be. This is not a tour at all but rather a self-guided​ trip to where ever you are choosing to go. We have tried to get answers​ and responses to our questions, but they do not respond. Beware of this company and stay away, far away. read more
