I traveled for work for the first decade of my career, God has gifted me with stability for the second. We found a church in Winter Haven, Haven Worship Center, that we loved to attend while we lived in Haines City. We moved to Lakeland in 2022 and mourned the 1 hour drive to Winter Haven every Sunday. It was worth it, but it wasn't sustainable. A month ago, a good friend of ours invited us to this church. We haven't missed a Sunday since. Not because of guilt or shame, worried of the "sin" of missing church, but because the SPIRIT OF GOD MOVES IN THIS CHURCH UNLIKE ANY I HAVE SEEN BEFORE. Since attending this church, my marriage has strengthened. I have found joy in the little things in life again. I have helped lead two people to the Lord, neither of which had any up bringing in Christianity. I have quit Nicotine. I have grown a business. I have bought a house. My children have begun planning to paint their bedrooms for the first time in their lives. I do not raise my hands during praise in worship, the spirit in me lifts them. The diverse people in this place, old and young, make us feel at home, the praise and worship is authentic, the pastor is wise beyond his years. As a man, I look up to him and his wisdom. He wears Jordan's, strange detail but he and the entire team embody "come as you are." Baptism EVERY Sunday, such an incredibly important detail and the way they do it is PROFOUND and well rooted in scripture. I love this place and am so grateful to have been called.

    ### Church Review: Where Faith Ends and Partisanship Begins…read more Attending service at Victory Church a few months before the 2024 election left me unsettled--not because of the sermon's spiritual message, but because the sanctuary had become a stage for political endorsements masked as moral imperatives. The pastor delivered a denunciation of the Democratic Party, labeling it as "evil" from the pulpit. What followed was even more troubling: a display of voting records from various pastors, offered as a spiritual compass to "guide" congregants at the ballot box. The message was clear--political alignment was being presented as a measure of faithfulness. To compound the unease, the pastor intimated disgust at the recent Mundani Primary success, casting aspersions on the character and legitimacy of those elected without offering facts, just innuendo. --- ### Ethical Crossroads There's a fine line between moral engagement and partisan manipulation--and this service bulldozed past it. Churches have long played a role in social justice and community uplift, but when a spiritual leader uses their authority to enforce political orthodoxy, it risks: - **Eroding trust in spiritual leadership** by conflating doctrine with party loyalty - **Alienating members** whose conscience leads them to different political conclusions - **Undermining democratic pluralism** by framing dissent as spiritual failure Worship should be a place for reflection, not division. And it's worth asking: when politics hijacks the pulpit, who benefits--and who is silenced?

This ain't no fancy looking church. In fact, you wouldn't know it's a church at all if it didn't have big letters out front that say "Access Church". It's in a strip mall, and one that's not necessarily nice or super clean overall. But Access brings up the average. Inside, it's more spacious than you'd expect. There's a nice greeting area, and they even serve free Concord coffee every Sunday (a great local shop)! The volunteers always have huge smiles on their faces and make you feel welcome without it being overwhelming. They give you a program before the service starts, along with a pen so that you can take notes if you want or in case you forgot something to write with. The worship style is much more modern, a little bit concert-like but in a good way. And they still sing a lot of the better known worship songs which I appreciate. The main pastors are so genuine and usually bring a good message. They don't over complicate things but hit you right where you need at times. It took me a couple years to find a church in Lakeland that I truly felt comfortable in, but from the moment I attended Access it captured me with the intentionality. After my first visit I chatted with some workers and they even gave me a first time gift. Access has weekends where you can volunteer at local nonprofits and help out. They hold small groups every week and baptisms once a month. Their Sunday services usually last around an hour, just enough but not too long. It's a great place to come and get your Jesus fill!

Will not be going back to them. God is not in lies!

Located inside the YMCA, this church sets up and takes down every weekend. Locale doesn't make it lack a homey feel though because they do a great job with set up, lighting and greeting! People inside are genuine and sincere. Most importantly, they remember me. Being that I'm far from a morning person it's great that they have 2 services (9am and 10:30am) which last about an hour. Yes, a legit hour. There's no crazy long worship or some long winded sermon that makes your sit bones scream for mercy! Free and delectable coffee is served and needed! Again, I'm not a morning person. What I appreciate is there's no coffee nazi who looks at you with "those eyes" if you go for a refill. In fact, take all that ya want. I hate feeling guilty for having seconds. Since I don't have kids that anchor me down I don't do the whole drop off pick up thing at the nursery or other rooms but I have volunteered. That program is top notch! They have it planned with teaching, songs, fun and crafts! Two-Three manned teams trained and ready to help keep your kiddos entertained so you can relax during service. Outside of the church there's so much community outreach. Not the kind that screams "come to my church" but more events and service. Currently the church is working together to start a Royal Family Kids camp for foster kids to have respite during the summer. They also did a toy drive for kids in foster homes. *cue the "Awww"* Community, this church loves getting to know the people with no hidden agenda. That's why they have Discover Groups. Different times and different days in different places to accommodate folks. People getting together! So yep, this church does it right. I didn't even get to say how excellent the worship is or how relatable but biblical the sermons are... Important things to know!
