I actually like axe throwing a lot, but I wouldn't recommend this business. It might have been a decent experience on its own, but the staff member on duty was not appropriate at all. He not only comment on my body and outfit, but he kept unconsciously touching other members of our group and sat at our table the whole hour without asking. His dialogue may have been sarcastic, but it was also very condescending and aggressive at times. Overall, we have decided not to come back. For others' reference, they do have alcoholic beverages, but they come in prepackaged bottles (mostly ciders and beers). If you are not wearing closed-toed shoes, you are required to rent a pair of their rubber shoes for about $6/person. The rate for groups of 4-5 are $25/person, but it decreases slightly with larger group sizes. Had an absolute blast here. Set up time for myself and a group of friends to go here and try it out. We were all newbies and water, but nervous. Once we had all arrived and signed our waivers, it was time to go. Your signed an instructor to help go over the ground rules and best practices. We all were given turns and rotated back and forth so each person could go several times. We all got the axe on the board at least once and definitely got a workout doing it. Our instructor was quick to give helpful tips to get us better and better. They have a parking lot around the back and street parking. I took my boyfriend here for an early birthday celebration and we loved it. Coming in we were greeted right away by the Manager Joe who had us fill out the Liability Waiver and gave us a stamp on the hand before our experience. We were told to wait a few minutes for our coach to be ready and then we'd be good to go. That's when we met Coach Ernest. Coach Ernest was awesome. He had such an inviting and fun presence about him which made our experience great. He offered tips and tricks to get the most out of our throws and even gave us different games to play in order to make it competitive. And there was a chalk board to keep score if we wanted to keep things interesting. He checked on us regularly despite have another big group next to us to tend to so nobody felt neglected! I will say that you're able to tip your coach before your experience, and please do so. They work hard to make sure we are safe, having fun and hitting bullseyes. read more

A group of friends and I came here last night as a girls night out activity. One of the girls in the group had been here before, but the rest of us were first timers. This place is located downtown, so parking is going to be tricky unless you park in a nearby garage. It's easy to find via GPS, and the windows to the facility are big and a great way to market what is going on inside. We signed our lives away with their waivers, and were offered drinks (beer and wine were served). I was a little surprised that a place that allows you to throw sharp and dangerous weapons would sell and encourage you to drink alcohol, but everyone there was behaving themselves, and no one was visibly intoxicated. This place has a close toed shoes only policy (for obvious safety reasons!) so come dressed appropriately. Our instructor was Ian, and he let us know he was the head instructor there, and even carried his own axe on his belt. He was very talented, and I could tell he has been throwing weapons for a while, as his accuracy was on point. He was friendly, informative, and entertaining for the hour we spent there. We had enough time to play several rounds of games, and had plenty of time to take pics and videos for our social media and ourselves afterwards. There were two sizes of axes to throw, and it's harder than it looks! After a while, I caught on with the technique, and may have found a new hidden talent of mine ! This is a great place for team building activities, fun with friends and family, blowing off some steam, or if you just enjoy throwing sharp weapons at things! Value - 5 Safety - 5 Coach - 5 Fun Factor - 5 We planned to celebrate a milestone birthday here on a particular evening and looked forward to experiencing this place. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule but the staff was friendly and helpful in accommodating us with another night within their terms and conditions. It was a great first impression. We arrived ahead of time and enjoyed watching several groups throwing. With the open sections (caged off), we could see from one end of the venue to the other. I have to admit that I was concerned about not throwing well for all to see. But after seeing throwers both hit the bullseye and not sticking the axe at all, I thought "I can't do any worse." Our party of four was coached by Tom, and, with his direction, we learned the basic technique and started throwing in a short time. Tom set up competitions for our group and the time flew! We all agreed afterward that we had a blast and would return, given the opportunity. Even though axe throwing has been very popular lately in ATL I decided to go for the first time while on vacation in Orlando. Axe throwing has always been on my bucket list even before it became popular. It sounds way harder than it actually is. It can be very competitive too or just for fun. The guides do a really great job explaining all the rules and tips for a better throwing. You will fail a couple times before you actually make it but once you get it... it's so much fun. They take walk ins if it's a small group but reservations are recommended if it's a 6+ group of people. In general this is a great way to release stress and great cardio too plus it's a lot of fun. I'd definitely recommend it and I'd probably try to find a place close to home that I can go to. I wanted to go for my birthday but getting my group of friends to commit to go and then pay up for an advance reservation was like pulling teeth so I decided to roll the dice and show up as a walk-in with 13 friends at 8pm on a Saturday night. It must've been my lucky day because they had the large lane open for us with no wait time. I noticed there were about 9 other 2-target lanes and then I believe another 2-target lane by the register but all were occupied. For $25 per person, we threw axes for about an hour which was plenty enough time for us. The large lane had 3 targets and came with 1 instructor who was with our group the entire time. We had a guy named Joe who was friendly, nice, patient, and knowledgeable. He gave us a detailed explanation on how to throw and explained each step slowly and thoroughly. He showed us the 3 different axes we could choose from and explained the difference in each one. He encouraged us to try all three and to also throw from each lane. Safety was his and our number one priority and at no time did we ever feel like we were in danger. He also encouraged us to throw at least 5 times in a row before letting another person throw. I thought that was pretty cool because the first 2 throws were always crappy and I always got my groove on by the 5th time. Several of my friends hit the bullseye. A lot of us did not but that did not take away from the fun or the experience. We all agreed it was a great time and something different. When we were finished we were only a few short blocks from the nearest bar so we could continue celebrating and relish in our newfound skill. P.S. I also liked the fact that they were more than happy for us to take and post pics/video and even helped us with a funny group shot with props. read more

CLOSE TOED SHOES! (Yes, you can rent shoes too...don't worry, you get new socks) What did I get I went for the Axe experience! It is quite fun, better than gun range if you ask me. Though I think it is a little slow pace because of all the safety, but overall I had a great experience. There is someone that will be there to demonstrate safety precautions (makes it sound scary! but that is what it should do) and also stick around and help with technique. You do need close toed shoes for this experience, which I can understand. There are a lot of wood all over the place and you wouldn't want them giving you splinters! Environment This is located downtown. I didn't find the parking that was suggested on the website, I parked on the street which is metered parking but free after 6PM! There are about 6 cages maybe and each has 2 boards, so technically 2 people can go simultaneously. There is also some snacks you can purchase, like theatre snacks cause throwing axe is a show. Niceness of the staff Staff was very nice. Helped us get checked in and the coach/trainer/instructer was nice to give us instructions and also suggest games that we could play. My boyfriend and I came here for a date night and we had a good time, but we didn't walk away "WOWED" by the experience. I must admit, it might just be because this isn't our thing. But I don't regret going and trying it out at all! After we left we both agreed that if it was something we only did once a year or so, that would probably be good enough for us. It does take a little while at first to get the hang of the correct throwing technique but the staff is walking around and coaching you on how to do it correctly to make sure you are having a good time and staying safe. We were very surprised that it was as expensive as it was though. It costs $25 an hour per person. We thought this was pretty expensive for what you get. I would think it would make more sense for them to charge per lane (similar to bowing) as opposed to person. But 1 hour was plenty of time for us. So if you're wondering if you need to stay longer and the price might start to add up... I don't think that's a worry. We we're almost getting a little worn out by the end of an hour, lol! Similar to bowing though, I'm sure if you have a larger group in your party and you're sharing only a lane or 2 then you'll need to stay for longer because you will get less throws in when taking turns. Fun evening spot for a group hangout. I was unfamiliar with the concept of axe throwing until recently, and it did take much coaching for me to get the hang of it, but the staff there was nice and taught us both the one handed and two handed throws. This was my first time here and I had a great time. After signing the waiver and grabbing a couple of beers from behind the counter, (because alcohol mixes very well with throwing axes) we gathered up and did the safety demonstration. It was actually my first time chucking axes at anything, so it was really nice to have an instructor like we did. He was incredibly helpful too. I started off doing terrible and not even being able to land the axe on the wood. After a few tips from our coach, I began a hot streak. By the end of the session, I was hitting almost all of my throws and even stuck a few bullseyes. I loved hearing that cowbell. I was pretty impressed with myself. I liked that after a good warm up phase, they had us split into teams for a friendly competition. That ended up being a blast and although my team lost, it only encouraged me to get better and come back here for a rematch. Overall, this place is a really unique way to have fun in downtown Orlando. It's also a surprisingly social event, and in my case, I was able to meet a couple of awesome people that I probably otherwise wouldn't have. This place is in the heart of downtown Orlando so it was a bit tricky to find. They are located right next to the FedEx and there is a lot available for parking behind the building. We were a group of 12 for a friends birthday and we did not have reservations. It was a Thursday night and not too crowded but two coaches each had their own group. We waited about 30 minutes for our whole group to show up and for a coach to become available. They do sell beer, ciders, wine and white claws so a few of us had some drinks while we waited. You are required to sign a waiver before throwing but the process is quick and easy. Our coach was Ian and he was awesome. He went through the safety rules first then a few tips on how to throw and the correct form. First, we practiced with a few throws each then he taught us how to play a game. It was a lot of fun! We only did an hour session but we all had plenty of time to practice, play the game and then throw some extra shots after. One hour was plenty of time! It is a bit pricy for what it is... $25/person/hour. But it's cheaper than a few other axe throwing places I looked into. I'm glad I tried it, but I wasn't particularly wowed, and I didn't think you got a whole lot for $25 per person. I went here on a Friday night, girls night, with a friend. We did an awesome team building exercise at the Epic Axe throwing company. We were the first group there and started promptly at 10am. Our group had 9 people, there was a mixup where online it showed only 6 members. They were able to rectify it quickly. Once you get a lane assigned, you go through some generalized coaching and are allowed to begin throwing! I recommend you listen to the instructor and follow a long with the coaching. Listen, if you are looking for me on a Sunday afternoon, I'm pretty much at Epic Axe Throwing, and I'm having a blast flinging axes and getting tips from the amazing coaches here. The thing that is so funny is that pretty much anyone can learn how to throw when you work a great coach, like Coach Ernest for example! Yesterday he taught us how to play "regulation" style rounds of play, and also a version of a game that's basically like playing horse on a basketball court. The folks here are super encouraging and they have some great beer and cider available! (Yes, drinking and axe throwing go together, but don't worry, safety is the #1 objective here and the rules keep you safe!!) After throwing the axe many times in this Downtown Orlando location, you are just around the corner from Thornton Park (another happening Orlando neighborhood,) and the location of beautiful Lake Eola. Sundays are Farmers Market day, so you can check out the swans, swan boats and vendors nearby to Epic's convenient location. There is plenty of free parking out back too, something to keep in mind when heading to Downtown Orlando. I love Epic Axe Throwing and I think I've been here about a dozen times by now. What an experience! Our family had a great time. Our axe coach Cristoff was awesome in educating us in the art of axe throwing. One handed throws vs two, form and technique was provided throughout the experience. Our party had enough time to practice before the clock started on our 1hour purchase. We had 3 lanes between the 6 of us. We came in right before noon on a Saturday and we literally had the venue to ourselves. It was great due to the pandemic. Social distancing at its best. We were required to wear masks and encouraged to sanitize often with alcohol gels provided. Staff also wore masks. Snack and drinks available. Some beers available as well. The world has been a bit on the scary side lately. COVID, murder hornets, the bubonic plague...if there is any time that I've felt like there is a zombie apocalypse drawing down upon us, it's now. And what better way to prepare for a World War Z situation than taking a stab at axe throwing!? I can tell you this...I never knew how skilled and dangerous I was before I held a hatchet in my hand. Well, both hands. Apparently I can only strike the bullseye if I use both hands to keep the axe steady. My man can do it one-handed. I know. He's so impressive. In the end of our 1 hour coaching session I figured out that my aim is spot-on. However, as I twirl the axe from my grip, sometimes I'd hit the bullseye with the wooden side. Sometimes I'd hit it with the edge of the axe tilted so that it would drop on the floor after. So I'm not saying that I'm the Terminator, but I can hurt you pretty badly if I wanted to. read more

I've been hearing all of the hooplah around axe throwing so I was excited when I was finally able to go. A group of 12 of us went for a friend's birthday celebration and they were able to accommodate us across 4 lanes. The coaches there let us know that they've accommodated groups of 40 and even had 150 there all at once without an issue. We have to wait about 15-20 minutes for the lanes to become available but they have a large waiting area so it was no problem at all. Our coach, Ian, was great! You can tell he really enjoys his job, mostly because at one point he said "Man, I love my job." But more than that, he took the time to work with each of us to perfect our throw. Now, at the end of the night, my throw was nowhere near perfect BUT I did hit the board 2 times! This doesn't seem like a lot but I promise those 2 times were worth the 200 failed tries... The other coaches walking around were also helpful and would stop to give you tips on getting better which was super nice. We had a great time and got to play a whole game between the 12 of us, in which I tied for last place! I was nervous with such a big group but we all got to throw plenty of times and had a ton of fun. I would definitely come back! read more

I'd been to this place before and had a lot of fun with a different coach who gave us a quick safety run down and then let us throw. This Tom guy took forever to show us the ropes and then proceeded to challenge us in our own lane which we all paid. Playing our lane on time we paid for was frustrating.
