Travelled all over country and nothing unique here or any real personality. clerks with no greeting made me feel like they could care less if customers were there or not.

Shangri- La Records was up the street from where we had BBQ & as soon as we walked in, the records covered wall to wall. So much to choose from. There was a section with a setup of drums & a mic stand. Came to find out there was a jam session that ended right before we walked in. I really really enjoyed the Memphis sections, whether it was based off of a record label (like Stax) or an artist (like OV Wright). When I found the record I ended up buying, I instantly told myself that I was going to back as long as I'm ever in Memphis. 'B-Ball's Best Kept Secret' is super rare. NBA players produced + performed on the album. I thought I was trippin' because I always heard about it on podcasts & when I saw the tracklist I was like "OH SNAP!!". The individual who helped at the register (who might've been the manager/owner) was really nice & hooked us up with a sticker (I collect local stickers). Great experience as a first time visitor + consumer.

This is the experience I want when I dig through the racks - I'd rather this than finding THE record I want at full price plus or a bunch of might-be-goods made unattractive by pricing that's too high. While the selection here is decent, and there were records that grabbed my eye, there's also a lot of stuff that's readily available at any thrift store across the country, that should/would be in a dollar bin at most record stores. However, selection really isn't the issue. The problem is the fact that more than half of the records aren't priced and you have to bring them up to the counter for the employee to, if I had to guess, price via discogs listings. I suppose since you've shown interest in the records by bringing them up to the counter, they feel like they don't have to be competitive with their quotes - they definitely aren't beating online prices, not even with the cost of shipping excluded. Needless to say, this is an utter buzzkill; what a horrible tease it is to have something pique your interest, excitement and anticipation gathering as you walk to the counter and wait for a price, only to be told a number that you're not willing to pay, that instantly kills your joy, that you could have found without leaving your home and wasting the time and the gas. Seriously, stay at home, you'll get better deals on a better selection on discogs and/or ebay.

I chalked that up to COVID which I know has created havoc, as I acknowledged in my emails and VM messages. I'm concerned that this once great little company is accepting online orders but is out of business, buyer beware. I hope they are all well, you never know these days though... Their customer response line offers to let you leave a message, but then returns to the original answering intro. The call intro says to call back during normal hours, even mid-day M-F. The online site mentions problems with the USPS for the past 2 1/2 months. 3/16/21 update - Sleeve City did contact me today regarding the delays. Upgrading my review today, will continue to upgrade if the order does eventually arrive.

Too bad I didn't go to a nearby school as they have plenty of SEC school logo gear. They also have a great outdoor gear and business casual stuff, including great brands like Orvis and Southern marsh. Check it out and give these guys some of your business, they are way more fun than the average mens' store.
