Not the best pizza in Durham but to my knowledge the best one that delivers. Solid crust (crispy and slightly buttery) + creative toppings = Very good pizza. I also ordered Enzo's wings, which are oven-baked as opposed to fried. They're smaller than most restaurant wings and lighter. The BBQ sauce had a pleasant sweetness to it. Wasn't thrilled with the blue cheese sauce though, hard to really taste the cheese there. Enzo's Tres Amigos pizza is one of the best pizza delivery options out there. Combines green tomato sauce with steak, pico de gallo, avocados and cilantro. Delicious. Bonus points for allowing you to combine two pizza flavors per pie, even for a small pizza size. read more

Ok, before I even begin my review, you must know: YOU CAN ASK THEM TO SLICE IT LIKE A REGULAR PIZZA. Just ask. They will totally do it. You could probably ask them to top your pizza with meatball subs, they'll do it. Enzo's is staffed by humans. Humans can do things. Especially humans at a non-chain, high quality pizza place. Ok, to the pizza. I haven't had the subs/salads, but the pizza and wings are legit. The crust is nothing to start a revolution over (it's crispier/toastier than Papa Johns). The real reason to go here is the toppings. All the meat is boar's head and all the veggies have a nice fresh crunch to them (when they're supposed to). They even have some pretty non-traditional toppings like avocado and garlic. It's a creative pizza joint. There is a price markup for the quality, but you can always go to Dominos, or better yet a garbage dumpster if you want a real bargain. The wings are quality too. They don't do frozen pre-made wings, which is surprising for a pizza joint. And the little cinnamon dumpling things are addicting. Delivery guys are dependable if you're not ordering during extra busy hours (Friday night, forget about getting anything delivered from anywhere in under 40 minutes). I typically don't write reviews of places I have catered for events, but I was so impressed by Enzo's pizza that I thought it deserved one! Enzo's is apparently Duke's go-to pizza place, and I can definitely see why. I had Enzo's catered for a conference dinner, and though I like take out pizza, I rarely get excited about it, so I wasn't expecting much. But when the pizza boxes were lifted and suddenly I saw beautiful pizzas with unique variances such as avocado & steak, white cheese & tomato, and even just the regular cheese looked delicious! They tasted just as great as they looked - all high quality, flavorful pizzas. I think I ate four slices and nope I didn't even care if anyone was judging me, it was that good! If you're looking for takeout pizza and/or want a break from the chain pizza shops, I can't recommend Enzo's enough! I can't say North Carolina seems like the most exciting place, but I would be happy to come back and eat another Enzo's pizza! read more

It will provide your body with calories. It will satiate your appetite. What it will not do, however, is satisfy your hunger for good tasting, quality food. Literally any of the other restaurants in this shopping plaza are better options. Look, I grew up in the NYC area, and I am a bit of a pizza snob. I get it. But today, against my better judgment, I ordered their wings. I waited nearly 40 minutes. After consuming their version of wings I left feeling very, very sad. After just 10 short years, I have FINALLY found a pizza place IN DURHAM that I really, really LIKE!!!! The pizza: the crust is thin, crispy/chewy, and tastes, hmmm, almost buttery. Yes, yes, yes. . . I just moved into the neighborhood this past weekend and because of the way I move (basically taking two weeks to move) I was sitting at my house on Saturday night with nothing to cook with and no internet to see what was around. I didn't really feel like driving anywhere so I grabbed my smart phone and started to look for a pizza place that would deliver. Enzo's popped up and so I gave it a try. The website was simply enough that I was able to no only look at the menu but also order online using my phone, which was a big relief. They told me that it would take about 45 minutes to get there and they were pretty much right on the money. I have a feeling that this place is popular in my neighborhood as I saw the deliver guy go down my street twice before my order. The driver was very nice and when he found out I just moved there he welcomed me to the neighborhood. Now on to the pizza, and the main reason I gave them 5 stars. They had a Pulled Pork BBQ pizza, which is like a dream to me. The pizza in itself is more like a St Louis Style Pizza, with a thinner style crust. This pizza was loaded with pulled pork and a crisp coleslaw which was very tasty. The part that really set it off for me was the vinegar BBQ sauces that came with it. That poured over the pizza made this a must for me. I will certainly be ordering from them again, and soon. read more

I don't know what the hype is about Enzo's (either that or I just have a different palate than everyone else) but I've had Enzo's delivered on many separate occasions in many different varieties and I have to say I really do not like this place. It's nothing wrong with the facilities themselves, but as a personal preference it's their recipe that I really don't like. 1. Shape - this slices are definitely better for large parties or groups of people, but for someone who just wants to eat some pizza, it really doesn't cut it. Unlike many, I love the crust of the pizza. For me, it's the quality of the crust and the flour used that makes a pizza really stand out and taste good...after all, it is literally the base of the pizza. The square shape of Enzo's slices make it hard to enjoy every slice. You either get a "crust" slice, which gives you lots of dry crust and barely any toppings, or the middle slices, which have no crust at all. There's no happy medium, and sometimes I wish they would just go old school and cut the pizza into wedge slices. 2..sauce to topping ratio: As someone who values the sauce in the pizza as giving it true flavoring, I was really disappointed in Enzo's. Not only is there barely any pizza sauce on every pizza of theirs that I've tried, but there's also barely any cheese. The cheese they have hardens really easily into a chewy, hard lump when you swallow it, not the stringy, gooey mozarella or provalone that you'd expect for an "expensive" pizza place! But seriously, BARELY any sauce!! Such a disappointment! 3. Toppings: This I can give it to them. Their pizzas are always saturated with toppings. If only they had better cheese and more sauce.... 4. Crust: Unlike Mellow Mushroom, which has really soft, almost buttery crust (almost like garlic bread!) Enzo's crust is extremely crackily and dry, bordering on stale sometimes. Also, no garlic dipping sauce! This came as a bummer for someone like me who absolutely loves dipping the crust into garlic sauce. Overall, a less than average pizza joint which, although local, is overpriced for the quality that I'm getting. Of course, keep in mind these are personal preferences on pizzas, but I have been eating Enzo's for 3 years now (at school events) so I know that there's been at least no error in my opinion due to small sampling size. read more

While Enzo's pizza is great when it's hot and fresh, hot and fresh delivery is apparently something they are not equipped for during busy times. We phoned in an order about 11:40 and was told that it would be 45 minutes to an hour. An hour later, (with no pizza) we called back and were told that the driver had several deliveries to make to our building and we should be getting our pizza soon. We finally received our pizza (warm, definitely not hot) about 30-45 minutes after it was promised (an eternity when you're hungry). The delivery driver brought it from his trunk (no insulated bag or anything to keep heat in). Next time I want delivery, I'll try something else. read more

I like their unique specialty pizzas and that their ingredients are fresh- sets them apart from other chain delivery options. The tres amigos was good but surprisingly pretty spicy. But there is avocado so it's worth it. I also like the buffalo chicken. However, not really a big fan of the square cuts, since there are always pieces where you're literally only getting crust. Their pizzas are definitely on the pricier side as well. Pro tip: if you're super indecisive like me and can't decide between 2 pizzas you can order half and half. read more

My favorite place for take-out pizza in Durham. They have loads of great toppings, it's quick and delicious every time, the folks that work there are always friendly, and the ranch is done right (none of that buttermilk garbage). Ok, so why not five stars? Because there are certain places in the country where the pizza is truly amazing. The type of place where you buy a large to ensure leftovers, but the flavor carnival that happens when you bite into it compels you to have just one more slice until the entire pizza is gone. These places are the holy grail of pizza joints. While Enzo's is not this type of place (I haven't found one in Durham yet), it is certainly in the upper crust (pun intended) of pizza places in the area and a fantastic choice if you are getting take-out. read more

I feel like Enzo's is getting a bad rep because of their delivery service, and that's fair, but when I eat their pizza, fresh, it is delicious every time! I used to work near Enzo's on Duke Campus, and would look forward to eating there after a long day. They have a great list of speciality pizzas, which everyone usually orders, and different sizes from personal to extra large. They have above-average toppings such as avocados and goat cheese. Their "Tres Amigos" pizza has yet to fail me; it's essentially a carne asada burrito on a pizza (minus rice & beans). Also, their pizza is more on the thin side, between hand tossed and thin/crispy. Enzo's Pizza Co's website offers the slogan, "an old word tradition, reborn." Late on a Sunday night, new in town, and having not had a single bad meal since I moved here, we decided to give this reborn tradition a try. I ordered a 14" pepperoni pizza and cheese bread with marinara sauce. The lady on the phone informed me that it would be about 30-35 minutes. Enzo's began this new tradition by taking 60 minutes to deliver our pizza. Willing to overlook this, and ready to see what a 24 dollar pizza and breadsticks meal tastes like, we brought our pizza inside and opened the box. Why I say, this looks to be a Little Caesars hot and ready pizza. Except instead of $5, hot, and ready, it's $24 dollars, warm, and we waited for an hour. My first bite into this reborn tradition confirmed my suspicions. As my teeth sank into the crust, tearing it away like a piece of stale bread from a loaf prepared many days ago, I immediately thought to myself, "ahh, Rome!" I looked longingly into my wife's eyes, and smiled, recalling all the time we'd spent traveling the world, trying different foods, seeing different sites, taking in the "old world," and said, "this is honestly the worst pizza I think I've ever had, I can't believe we paid 24 fucking dollars for this." Her eyes turned upward, as she wiped the grease from her lips and took a bite into the undercooked bread with a frisbee of mozzarella baked on top, and concurred. We were able to eat two whole slices before putting the rest of the pizza in the fridge, where it will no doubt stay until our trash comes, at which time it will be thrown away. Pizza is okay. What's odd about Enzo's is that the pizza is not cheesy or topping filled enough to qualify as a hole-in-the-wall place, but nor are the pizzas unique enough to be an edgy upscale joint. The Bomber, BBQ Chicken, and Chicken Bacon Ranch are okay but really need more sauce on the pie and it would be very nice if the crust and sauce weren't so sweet. They offer a Duke Employee discount which brings the pizzas into a price range that makes up for their mediocrity. Service can be really hit or miss. I was once charged twice for an order and it took months for them to correct it. They were nice about it, but months? Overall, fine pizza if you're in the area and *need* pizza but probably not worth any drive and dealing with the awful parking lot. read more

the personal pizzas are kind of a dud. i was expecting more but I wasn't quite sure why... oh i think it's because it was quite pricey!! i got the personal bella italia. it had the 'gourmet' toppings you expect in a atypical pizza place, but it didn't really TASTE gourmet. it looked kind of sad. don't get me wrong, it didn't taste bad, it just didn't impress me much. Delicious specialty pizzas for delivery or eat-in. You can select your own toppings or choose from a variety of very clever pre-built recipes. Some of the pre-built recipes are really creative, and at least 5 vegetarian ones exist. The prices are on the high end - you'll pay over 20 dollars for their large pizza. But the pizzas are good enough that it's still worth it. EDIT: I agree with the comment that their pizzas are filling - unless we're unusually hungry, one pizza of their largest size is enough to satisfy both me and a friend. read more

So one of the surgeons from the hospital recommended this place to me and it was amazing! The cheese is super chewy and the dough taste fresh. I just recently got their vegetarian pizza and it had such a great flavor and all of the vegetables were perfect. They are a little pricey, that's the only reason I don't give them 5 stars. They do deliver, so that's great and the staff was super awesome. I didn't know what time they closed and I called 5 minutes before they closed and they actually offered to go ahead and make it and we're super cool about it. I left them a good tip of course but I thought it was awesome they were willing to stay open an extra ten mins for me. Definitely worth checking out! I can shamelessly say that meeting the pizza delivery guy is a joyous moment for me. Enzo's is one of Duke students' favorite pizza places, and for good reason. A non-franchise pizzeria brings something special to the table. My favorite: Tres Amigos. This pizza tastes even better when you have some amigos to share it with. I tried Enzo's after the place I originally going to go to had a huge wait time. I'm glad I did. I tried the Veg Out pizza which did have a good amount of vegetables. It was very tasty and fresh. I have been to Enzo's on several different occasions and have had their pizzas delivered for different meetings also on several occasions. I have tried many of the pizzas and have enjoyed them. My favorite pizzas are the Bruschetta and the ATM. The only issues I have had with the pizzas have been how they cut the pizzas (in squares which makes it difficult to pick up the middle slices because there is no crust on it) and that the crust is not very crisp. It is very convenient to walk to from Duke Campus. The service at the site can be slow, as others have mentioned, though I have only waited over an hour for a pizza once when I was a group of friends (granted it was before the dinner service really started going). I have had them deliver their pizzas for meetings, and as long as I called ahead, they always delivered the pizzas on time. They tend to be a big hit at my meetings. Pizzas here do get pricey so we only order from here if it is going to be a smaller meeting. read more

I visited my best friend for a week and she made it a point to eat here. There really is nothing bad to say about Enzo's. We got a large pizza, half tres amigos and half grecian goat and it was absolutely delicious. The flavor of the pizzas were so different than anything I've ever had before. The tres amigos feels like you're eating a carne asada burrito on a pizza and the pica de gallo and avocado is so fresh and adds a nice and unique flavor to it. The goat cheese on the grecian goat made all the difference to that side of the pizza and also made it really unique. Pizza can feel really heavy and filling but Enzo's pizza felt really light but it was filling at the same time. I will definitely be making my stop at Enzo's again next time I'm in Durham! read more

We were in town for a short visit, and wanted to have some pizza and wings delivered to our hotel room. First item is wait time. This was a Friday night, so we expected a little longer delivery time. It ended up taking about an hour and ten minutes; not horrible, but not great. Next is service. The guy who took the phone order was not at all friendly or service oriented. Very abrupt and matter of fact. No 'hi/good evening/thank you'; no pleasantries at all. The delivery driver was slightly better, but only slightly. Also, they didn't bring any napkins or utensils with the order (and one of the items was a salad). Now, keep in mind that we were at a hotel, so they should have assumed we needed napkins and utensils. And, most importantly, the food. The hot wings were just okay. A little hotter than most, and a different type of sauce. Same for the Greek salad; just okay. The bright spot of the whole experience was the pizza itself. The pie was delicious! Very tasty sauce, perfect amount of cheese, and great NY style crust; on the thin side and a bit chewy. If it wasn't for the great pizza, I'd never even consider ordering from them again. Still probably won't next time. I'm a stickler for service, and that was just too lacking. Update: Andy, thank you for taking the time to reply. It says a lot. They have the BEST plump BBQ jumbo wings in the world. Their ATM (all the meat) and the Rustic Pizza is to die for in my opinion. I have had the Spicy Citrus Salad and it was awesome.
