I had a reservation for a BMW 5 or 7 Series and arrived a bit early. The staff was extremely friendly and upfront that my car wasn't ready yet, which was totally fine. While I was waiting, they called to let me know the vehicle had been returned with a damaged tire and they didn't feel comfortable sending me out in it--especially for a road trip. I really appreciated that level of honesty and focus on my safety. They made a strong effort to find alternatives (offering options like a Wagoneer and Audi Q7), but I had my heart set on a luxury sedan and ultimately decided to cancel. Even though it didn't work out, the customer service here was top tier. The team was attentive, transparent, and genuinely tried to make it right. This location to be exact is phenomenal.Everyone at this location is really pleasant to work with. But lets talk about Steve. I will only rent from this location. The customer service Steve provides is always exceptional. He goes above and beyond with any request that is asked. I had a horrible experience with another branch and Steve reached out to make sure everything was fine with my rental. On a different occasion my mother rented a car from the hoboken location and when the car gave her trouble on a Sunday Steve drove all the way to BROOKLYN to give her a new renter and drive the damaged one back. I accidently left my iPad in the car we rented. I tucked it into the backseat pocket during our trip and completely forgot about it! (not my proudest moment lol) It was very hidden; one would have to open the pocket and really look in to see if anything was there. So, I frantically called and the staff at this Enterprise location was great. They were so kind and truly did everything and beyond to retrieve my device back. Luckily the next person who rented the car was stationed in Hoboken, so it wasn't completely impossible to track down. I am floored by the level of customer service at this Enterprise location. All of this was AFTER we returned the car. Special shout out to Caroline!! She personally picked up my iPad from the Hoboken guy and secured the goods until I came to pick up. I am so grateful to her. Got great rates here compared to my neighborhood, $150/day "economy" car place, and it was a quick PATH trip with a very short walk from there. Had to push my reservation (they're only open till 6 pm during the week!) but I made it just in the nick of time and got taken care of in a matter of minutes. Nice service for an NYC-area Enterprise. Some of the reviews on here aren't accurate. The parking garage isn't free so it of course makes sense that you have to pay only 12$ to park over night. If you rent in the city their parking charge is included in the rate. That's why city prices are double what hoboken offers! read more

My car rental smelled of strong smoke odor, I called to have it documented so that I would not be charged cleaning. As I drove the I couldn't take the smell no othervcar was available in Hoboken to change. As I drove the car more a warning function light came on several times. I reported this to Enterprise, I had to drive the car to another location to trade the car in. I felt unsafe driving this car and Enterprise did not act responsible in resolving this issue. read more

We reserved a car here over a week in advance. We drove over an hour to pick up it up (drove in a previous rental car that we can't extend at the Hoboken location) and Enterprise Hoboken didn't have a car for us. At the very least, they could have emailed us ahead of time to let us know. We are now scrambling to find a rental at decent rate (everything nearby costs over 1000/month more than the reservation we made for this location) and we have not found one. The very least Enterprise could have done was honor our reservation price at a nearby location. Now, we are at least a day behind, probably more, in our travel. We will end up paying more for a car and will pay for a house rental that we cannot get to. read more

BE CAREFUL using enterprise. This was my first time renting a car and I am young, so they tried to pin pre-existing damage on me. Thank god, I took pictures of the car and I have a lawyer in the family because had I not, I would be on the hook for $1,266! They sent me an invoice and we threatened to counter sue, and of course they got nervous and dropped the charges, go figure. When they go through the car to check for damage pre-pickup, make sure you report EVERY LITTLE SCRATCH OR DENT. Even if you think it's nothing, they will try to charge you for it and make you pay. My car was recently stolen in Hoboken, so I needed to rent a car. Enterprise had the best prices in Hoboken so I used them. They can pick you up to save you the walk down to their garage, but I needed the car in the morning and they don't open until 7:30am. When I got there there were already quite a few people waiting and only one employee. My rental car was filthy, both on the outside and the inside. The Enterprise guy apologized and said it was because it had snowed earlier that week. I'd suggest they have more employees at opening since that's obviously a popular time to rent a car, and it would be nice I they cleaned their vehicles. Sticky cup holders and dirty cars don't make your company look good. At least the car got me where I needed to go. They even refunded the $50 fee for returning the car to a different Enterprise because of the theft. If I have to rent a car again in Hoboken, I'll use Enterprise again. read more

Such a mess... someone move the car after the check-in and Enterprise was not able to find it back. They charge us for thousands of Dollars and after pushing them everyday, by going to the office, they finally saw the parking videos and saw their mistake. They reimburse just a part of the amount, "for fees" as they said, and without any excuses for their mistake. "It happens sometimes" they said... how is it possible ?? I had a terrible experience with Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Hoboken I rent a Chevrolet malibu 2020 car for family vacation Last September. During pick up, I was given a car with the engine still running. Later I drove the car to VT. Everything was fine on the way. However, the next morning, it is found that the car's battery was dead. I had no clue what's the problem with the car. I then contacted Enterprise who had a staff to come over and jumpstart the car. I spent the whole day contacting nearby locations for an available one, and was able to swap a car in the end of the day. My vacation plan was ruined... Later on, I was called by an Enterprise employee and told the car had a flood damage. The guy told me I should take the responsibility of the damage (which I have no clue) regardless of any facts, since I was the last one renting the car. I was also told to contact credit card benefit services to submit a claim since the insurance may cover the repairing cost. Later, I got a bill with a $15K balance due, whereas the car itself worth around $22K. Luckily, my card covers the cost in the end. Be cautious for people who plan to rent cars from this location in the future!! read more

I live in Manhattan, and rent cars often. I prefer enterprise/hertz etc to 'budget' alternatives, because i have burned too many times with long wait times, rude or nonexistent customer service, etc. That being said, of all the ones in and around the city this one is my absolute favorite. Very easy to get to from manhattan, excellent rates, cheaper than the airports since youre not paying all those airport taxes (which definitely add up!). Best of all, however, is the customer service, which is fantastic. read more

Unfortunately after several positive experiences with enterprise was disappointed that when I brought my car back to a different dealer I was told I was Being charged for paint damage on the kick plate that was present on car when I rented it but was not documented by Jake who works there. His prep guy did not show up that morning and he rushed through the check out ... When I pointed to some of the chipped paint he remarked "Oh don't worry about that" I informed enterprise that I would not be paying for the pre-existing damage and their response was to send me to collections while it is not cost effective I have retained an attorney ..I rather pay them the 700 dollars than pay for damage I am not responsible for... This review is principally for Enterprise the company, but I also will comment on this particular location from which I rented a car on December 11, 2014. This particular location is great because of its proximity to the PATH station in Hoboken. Very easy commute from NY. One star for that. The attendants at this location were really great. All of them. Super nice people. One more star. I had rented only once before from Enterprise and it was a while ago, so when I booked them again (for a very low rental rate; the reason I booked them). I was surprised at the costs of insurance and road side assistance etc., which collectively cost more than the rental, which was only about $35. I also asked for an EZ pass, which they didn't have (and I realize now why they don't have it.) I rented an economy car, and after driving around for a few miles, I realized that "economy" didn't apply to the gas...didn't like that at all. But next time before accepting a car (at any rental place), I will ask about the gas mileage. Fine, so when it came time to pay the toll crossing the George Washington bridge, there was no attendant at the gate in the cash lane. Awesome. I was left dumbfounded because I had no idea what to do. Luckily there are cameras watching you and your car (*sarcastic*) and a call button for assistance. The woman who answered my call told me everything was fine, and that I could continue. I returned the car without a problem on December 12. A few days ago I received a letter from enterprise stating they received a bill from the toll agency of $14 and that they paid it. "Awesome, thanks so much!" And because they did me the favor of paying it in advance all I have to do is pay them back the $14 plus the $13 fee for the courtesy of paying it for me...That fee is almost as much as the toll and that is unreasonable. I was actually inspired to do this review right now (they sent an email asking for feedback a day after returning the car but wasn't inspired at the time) because I just spoke with a customer service rep about this fee issue. I told her it was way too much and that I wasn't able to pay the toll in cash at that moment because there was no attendant. She said the best that she could do right now was "waive" it this one time by taking half off the fee. I thought it was very inconsiderate to not waive it completely, but I thanked her anyway. To summarize: PROS: -Good location. -Great attendants. CONS: -Bad car for gas efficiency-Ford Fiesta (maybe, or maybe not the fault of Enterprise, but it added to my negative experience with them) -Insurance and add-ons are overpriced and excessive. -No EZ pass, which resulted in charging: -An unreasonable fee for one toll, and then weren't willing to be understanding or fair with waiving it. For example, for me, fair and reasonable would be $3 for each incident. There is my feedback. I won't say I will never rent with them again because I don't know if a situation where I will have to use them in the future will transpire, but from this point onward, I will definitely avoid them at all possible outlets. read more

I had such a good experience renting a car from this Enterprise branch for a recent vacation. They picked me up at the PATH station, the car I rented was clean and performed well, and the staff was incredibly understanding and nice the day I returned it. I'd parked the car near my apartment in Manhattan overnight before returning it Saturday morning. And overnight, I got two parking tickets and towed. So getting the car back and through the Holland Tunnel turned into a horrible ordeal. The assistant branch manager, Audrey, was the nicest person I talked to all day. She didn't charge me for an extra day even though I was a little late returning the car, and the lady who drove me back to the PATH station (and gave me directions when I was hideously lost in Hoboken and Jersey City) was also wonderful. I can't say enough good things about the nice people working at this Enterprise. I will definitely rent from them again. read more

Yes, Enterprise Hoboken is actually this good. Enterprise is known for amazing customer service, but now they have Priuses (Priae? Priusi?), a new location 5 minutes from the PATH train, and a lady named Dorothy who will shuttle you wherever you want while regaling you with local lore. The location is kind of funky, in a garage at the corner of River and Second. There's also an entrance around the corner on First, but you have to walk through the garage. NOTE: There is no bathroom in this location, so plan accordingly. If you live in Manhattan and you're renting for more than a few days, it will probably cost less to rent here. It will definitely be more pleasant. read more

I am an Enterprise Plus member, and absolutely love renting from Enterprise. I have had wonderful experiences at Enterprise locations all across the country. I am such a loyal customer that I will often pay a slightly higher price to rent from Enterprise than take my business elsewhere. That said, I will never rent from Enterprise Hoboken again. In the NYC area you have many choices on locations, and with such amazing service at every other location I have been to (LGA, JFK, EWR, Midtown West, Harlem, UES), there is no reason to go to a location that operates at a sub-par level. For starters, they have a terrible selection of cars. They have more garage space than most of the Manhattan locations, and yet the choice of cars is very minimal. The manager and people who staff this location are slimy, in that way you would expect at a used car lot. They also couldn't seem to get my address correct, even though it is clearly listed on my drivers license. This turned out to be a problem later on, when something they attempted to mail to me did not get to the right place, resulting in my card being auto-charged $133. On the flip side, the incompetent staff had left a GPS in the glove compartment of the car I rented from them. So, I suppose it was nice to get to use that for free. Although I think a pattern is clear: the people who work here are lazy and don't care enough to pay attention to important details. On every level this location is a disappointment. If you're thinking of renting from Enterprise, go to LGA. The people who work there are seriously amazing and they have a huge amount of nice cars to choose from. If you need to rent a car in Hoboken, choose any other company besides this one. Trust me, you'll be glad you did. read more

I rent here more often than at the Manhattan locations, both because of the price and because I kind of got burned at the first Manhattan location I tried. The Hoboken folks are invariably polite and courteous, and they don't go for the hard sell on the extras when they know you are a regular. Their cars are a bit of a wild card. Sometimes I get exactly what I asked for, and other times they upgrade me to something that isn't necessarily a suitable vehicle for a longer drive. I think their fleet is not very stable. The new River St. location is very convenient form the PATH station. Not as convenient as far as driving to the tunnels/bridges, but it shouldn't be a problem if you know the area. Extra points for being in New Jersey, Home of the Cheapest Gas in the Northeast! read more

Last time I rented a car from Enterprise in Hoboken NJ, Brian was the rep that checked me in and also checked me out upon returning the car. He was courteous and efficient. Got me in and out in a few minutes. I wish their operating hours would have been more convenient. They open at 7:30 and close by 6pm. On other occasions when I rented a car from this location, things did not go as smooth as last time. Some of the reps are impatient, they give you half answers to questions, in short , not great. This is the way to go if you live in Manhattan. Spend 15 minutes on the PATH and save 60% on Manhattan rental car rates. I rented a car for the weekend to go skiing upstate. Incredibly friendly people there who came out to greet me when I arrived. Incredibly friendly people when I returned the car. Only complaint is that they gave me a midsize when I reserved an economy, so I probably ended up spending a little extra on gas. No big deal. Also one of the few rental car locations open on Sundays. I had a great experience with this enterprise! We booked our car online and when we got to the location it took about 5 minutes to get everything ready and we were on our way. I accidentally left my planner in the car and didn't realize until i got home about an hour away. I called and asked if they could send me a picture of a page in My planner that i needed for the next day and they were able to do just that in only a few minutes. I've tried every car rental company in Hoboken and Enterprise is by far the best and the only company I will ever use now. Gave me a car whose registration expired back in August. It's now December. The cigarette lighter/charger doesn't work so I couldn't charge my GPS or phone. They gave me the ticket to get the car out of the parking garage...it had expired. I brought the car back as soon as I was done even though the insurance co was paying for another week of rental, hoping that I wouldn't need one again until my own car repairs were done. Ended up needing one again a couple days later. The new car I got clearly hadn't been cleaned since the last driver (sand, wrappers, receipts in the car). Oh, and the registration and self insurance card had expired in July. Lovely. I rent from various companies about 2-3 times/yr and have never had any issues so I was surprised that this place sucked balls. read more

We were deciding between renting a car in the city and renting one in Hoboken. Commuting to Jersey for $2.75 saved us over $300! The lot was a bit confusing to locate (there are several in the area that look the same), but I called the Enterprise office and they helped me get there. My reservation was set for 6:30p; the car was ready despite my arriving early. It was a VERY quick check-in process with Tony and he was great answering all of my questions. I have rented from Zipcar before, but I liked my experience and the price point with Enterprise so much better. When my friends and I came back to the city, we incurred a lot of traffic. Thankfully we made it just in time. We arrived just before 6:00p (when they close), but they stayed open late to make sure they checked in all of the renters in the office. This place has fantastic customer service and really great rates, especially compared to what you'd find renting in Manhattan or Brooklyn. I'm not sure what the deal with this is, but I've frequently been upgraded from a standard car to a sports car for no extra charge. I guess it's the perk of having a garage with not a lot of storage and tons of turnover (sometimes you do have to wait a few minutes for another car to show up, but it's never a pain, the staff is very friendly) One minor downside of this turnover is that often the cars don't get a chance for a thorough look over in between rentals, so you may sometimes find yourself with a car that's been noticeably used. Overall it's a fantastic place, and the only reason I really knocked a star off are their hours. It's 8:30am - 1pm on Saturdays and 4pm - 8:30pm on Sundays, so you'll always get roped into a minimum 2 day rental, even if you're returning the car within 24 hours. read more

They really made the process easy and made me feel like they were really trying to help me have the best experience I needed while staying close to my budget. The location was a bit hard to find at first, but that's cause the location is in the parking garage at the lower level, and I was a little ditzy when following the signs outside. I want to break this review into two pieces: Customer service at Hoboken location - 5 stars. The staff is extremely professional and friendly. I also have several times received a free update (probably based on inventory in the garage). They call after you return the car to ask how the service was and want to ensure that the experience was a positive one. Business model / weekend hours - 1 star. The way their hours are structured on a weekend sets you up to have to rent ther car for longer than you potentially need it for. The place closes at 1PM on Saturday and then opens at 4PM on a Sunday. If you returned the car before the 4PM Sunday opening, you are still paying for over a day of use of the car. They also have done away with EZ Passs which is extremely inconvenient considering that I'm usually having to drive on the NJ Turnipke, GSP, or through a tunnel. Avis has better hours and offers EZ Pass. read more

The Hoboken Enterprise is far and away the most accommodating and pleasant car renting experience. Typically, it is a nightmare to rent cars, but they really do a good job of getting you in and out. It is also a benefit that you can drop the car off over night when they are closed for a small additional fee. The manager of the location, Chris, is very helpful and even went out of his way to call the corporate team on a charge I thought was wrong. Turns out it was for tolls I forgot about. I was instructed by the Enterprise employee to park/return the car on the 5th floor (away from the physical office) due to it being after hours. No further instruction was given. A full week had gone by before any of their employees decided to check the 5th floor to see if any cars were returned. My company was charged for the extra week that the car was just sitting there in their return lot. I called to explain the incompetence of the employee who told me to just park the car on the 5th floor, however they would not accommodate by refunding that extra week for a rental car I did not have in my possession. read more

I can honestly say that this was the best car rental experience I have ever had. From questions after the initial reservation to when we arrived to get the car. At checkin, Brandon (1) was awesome... he was quick and thorough, and even made sure we had a car appropriate for our trip and made certain we had everything we needed making our road trip a success. Upon our return, Brandon (2) checked the return in seamlessly, assisted us in how we get to our next destination. Brandon (1) saw us and even asked how the trip went. I usually love my experience of renting from Enterprise, and it's my preferred car-rental company. However, when I arrived at 9:11 at the location in Hoboken to pick up my car, I was told that I was 1 hour and 11 minutes late for my 8:00 a.m. reservation and that the type of car I'd reserved was no longer available and, instead, they could only offer me a pickup truck or minivan. It's true that I'd stipulated 8:00 a.m. as my pick-up time, but I was not informed during the reservation process nor by my confirmation email that the car would no longer be reserved if I showed up after (or didn't call by) 9:00 a.m. It turns out that picking up a rental car at one of Enterprise's local locations is different than one of their airport locations. Airport locations will hold your car for you beyond the specified pick-up time, but local office won't hold it more than an hour unless you call ahead. I guess this is somewhat understandable, but my opinion is that they should make it clear to customers that that is their policy, and/or they should at least attempt to call the customer before giving the car away. I ended up with a fine resolution in this incident, though it was frustrating at the beginning and the manager seemed rather accusatory in her approach. read more
