1 Star - Completely Unreliable and Zero Accountability…read more I am extremely disappointed with Enterprise Car Rental and will never use them again. I booked a van for a one-way trip from Lakeland, Florida to Illinois well in advance, specifically to avoid last-minute issues for a long drive with my family. I chose Enterprise because I received banking perks and upgrades, which made them seem like the safer, more reliable option. Instead, the day before my trip, I received a phone call informing me that they did not have a vehicle available at all. I was told that management instructed staff to call customers and cancel reservations because there were no vehicles, essentially admitting that reservations mean nothing. Let me be clear. This reservation was made far in advance. Enterprise had plenty of notice that I needed a van. Nothing was unexpected about this trip. Yet no vehicle was secured, no contingency plan was in place, and no effort was made to honor the reservation. To make matters worse, their only suggestion was that I drive an hour to Tampa Airport to try to find a vehicle, despite the fact that when I checked online, nothing was available there either. So not only did they cancel my reservation at the last possible moment, they sent me on a wild goose chase with no actual solution. There was no assistance, no rebooking support, no alternatives, and no sense of urgency or accountability. Just a shrug and a statement that this came from the top down. Because of Enterprise's failure, I was forced to scramble the day before a long-distance trip to find another rental company, exactly the situation I booked early to avoid. If you need reliability, especially for a one-way or long-distance trip, do not trust Enterprise. Their reservations are meaningless, their customer service is unhelpful, and they take zero responsibility when they completely drop the ball. I will absolutely be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

If I could give you all a zero for helpfulness, customer satisfaction and timeliness I would…read more This isn't our first enterprise fiasco. We rented a vehicle from another enterprise and of course they didn't have the vehicle we had under reservation. We need a specific vehicle and unfortunately they didn't have it. (Yet again and again). So they send us to this location which is very very far away from our home at rush hour in the pouring rainstorm. As we are driving down the road the manager called and said the vehicle wasn't rentable to us since we had it planned to drop off Saturday at 4. He then says that their location isn't open at that time. (What??? Really???) We are both like then bring it to the other location... and the manager named Jordan says he can't won't do that. At this point we are just not happy... it is torrentially raining and flooding on the streets and this manager is now saying he can't do it. He then hangs up on me. I call back and he says he won't rent to us. What's wrong with enterprise ? What happened to customer service? Very unprofessional way of doing business with zero compassion for customers. I'm definitely going to email corporate and make sure that they hear about this absolutely deplorable experience. (Please note I'm not a Karen ...)

I had to pull over the car off of the highway. We were trying to contact Dollar but the line was busy. I had to call an Uber and sent my friend from Ft Myers to Miami Intl with a cost of 200 USD. Once we finally spoked to a Dollar representative, he told us the assistance would be there the next 4 hours therefore he suggested to move the car to a nearest Dollar office. I drove the car at 10mph for 45 minutes to Dollar office at Punta Gorda airport, I told them what was happening and they gave me a different car..however when I arrived to Miami Airport next day because I lost my flight the previous day, they added more than 200 USD to my invoice because I have requested a ''Car Exchange'' and more bucks more because I ''return'' the car in different location twice. Basiclly, they are telling me I return the car because I wanted not because their car was damaged. I'm doing a claim, with all the evidence. But until now I can't believe how a company can act like that with a customer. The manager in Miami had the worst attitude I've never seen. In resume they took the money ''More than Double as the initial estimate because car exchange''

Upon arriving to my destination, I waiting two hours in line to finally reach a severely understaffed Dollar counter. I finished my reservation and got my receipt, but when I went outside to the rental lot, they HAD NO CARS available and that we have to wait ANOTHER one to three hours. Unacceptable! I walked away from the line and called an Uber, and got to where I needed to go for $40. (Wish I'd thought of this sooner.) The next morning, I call Priceline to see if they could get me a refund, and they tell me that because I never used the vehicle, I should be able to get a full refund. Two days later, Priceline sends me an email that because I apparently "used my reservation" (I was never issued nor used a vehicle), they could not issue me a refund. Unacceptable. Highly do not recommend Dollar or Priceline.

Now, to be fair, I was thirty minutes late to pick up the car, and I imagine somewhere in the terms of service they tell you that Alamo provides you twenty-nine minutes to pick up your car or they will give it away. However, it was not awesome to be stranded in Orlando for six hours when every other car rental was sold out. For something that can be so impactful to families, a company that cares about its customers could send a text or email warning you that they're giving your car rental away. Another way to show you care about customers is to state very clearly -- you have twenty nine minutes to pick up a car rental from Alamo, or they will give your car away. So, to be clear to everyone reading this: You have twenty-nine minutes to pick up a car rental from Alamo. They will not call you or warn you. You will not know that your car has been given away. They will not be helpful on the phone. I'll never, ever rent from Alamo again.

A lot has changed around the airport, but National continues to deliver the same dependable experience that made me a fan in the first place. Tampa has shifted all rental cars to a separate facility that you reach by shuttle train. The ride takes about five minutes, it runs smoothly, and in the handful of times I have used it, I have never had a delay or a hiccup. It is an easy, predictable part of the arrival routine. National is simple to find, and as an Emerald Aisle member, I still get to bypass the counter and head straight to the garage. I used to be Executive, but I am regular Emerald now, which means choosing from a slightly lower tier. That was not a problem today. For this visit, I specifically wanted a minivan and had my pick of at least a dozen, walking right past a row of SUVs and sedans to get the most boring and generic one with a Florida tag. Exiting the facility and heading to downtown was just as smooth. A friendly agent checked my ID, waved me through, and I was on the road within moments. The van itself was spotless, had fewer than 2000 miles, and ran without a single issue for the entire week. Returning the car was equally straightforward. The signage is clear, the lanes are well marked, and the whole process moves quickly. I had the email with my final receipt before I even stepped back onto the train to the terminal. National at Tampa continues to be a reliable choice for me, and I expect to keep renting from them whenever I fly through TPA. [Review 44 of 2026 - 2228 in Florida - 25234 overall]

We recently used Fox rentals through Expedia. First of all,…read morebeware that they are NOT located at the airport. The shuttle runs during "business hours" which is listed as 5am-12:30. (Another traveler had to call them after our 12am arrival flight even though they expressly say they shuttle and allowed us to book a 12:30am pickup time. We even provided our flight information to them) The shuttle driver made it sound like they were doing us a favor by "staying late" and had a $5 bill sticking out of the dash so we all knew he was accepting tips. We get there and we had booked the rental in my Husbands name, using my mother's card (she and I handled the itinerary for the trip.) Although we purchased the additional insurance through Expedia, Fox required that we also purchase insurance through them at another $15.40 per day. The fees will absolutely floor you, but we will get to that later. They wanted a credit card on file (or a debit card as long as they could put a $1000 hold on it) for incidentals. They wouldn't accept a credit card from my mother, it had to be the in the booked drivers name. We asked to switch the booked driver to my mother, nope they COULD NOT do that. They did offer to REBOOK under my mom's name, but not until the following "morning" at 3x the cost. Eventually my husband just gave them his card, they charged a random amount, but said they'd just do $750- they charged us $775.45 the additional fees the charged us conveniently added up to $275.45, so he was refunded $500.00 on the dot. This was not explained to us, we were told it was just a hold for incidentals. They said nothing about the charges they knew they were charging us coming out at the ends but obviously that's what the plan was. My god THE FEES!! Fees for the privilege of using their license plates In the state of Florida PER DAY, fees for "energy recovery" PER DAY (for them to vacuum the carpet and wipe down the dash),A BUS ACCESS FEE Because they let you use their "free shuttle." A "PRIVILEGE FEE RECOVERY" that they pay the airport and then pass on to the customer for the privilege of operating their business "at the airport." (Reminder we had to be shuttled from the airport and nearly didn't have a chance to check in. If they didn't "stay late" and the other traveler hadn't called, we would have been in a world of trouble! And they're also charging a bus access fee, so seems like a double dip to me. No "at the airport" privileges but all the cost of them!) A daily cost for "PlatePass Inc" although I'm pretty certain we only went on roads that required tolls on two different days. We weren't offered anything other than this. (I highly recommend looking into alternative options on your own, they're not trying to help you AT ALL! There may be a way to buy your own transponder, I saw some at Publix but I have no idea how they work) No one went out with us to look over the vehicle to see if there were any damages prior to us taking it. I took all around pictures and videos so they'd be time stamped incase it became an issue. When we got back, no one looked over the vehicle with us. They had us leave it with the keys on the dash. The shuttle driver was rushing us to get on the shuttle so he could depart for the airport. The whole thing was so strange--- even the non-descript pick up Places had a ton of people there that loaded into unmarked sprinter vans. VANS THAT MY HUSBAND AND MOTHER WERE GOING TO GET INTO BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT IT WAS FOX! Their shuttles are clearly marked but at the time we didn't know that (and for all I know those sprinter vans were Fox!) I would recommend saving yourself the headache and making sure you can conduct your business at the airport. I fully believe the nominal savings we thought we had using Fox was not worth the headache the "what ifs" (what if another traveler hadn't called to have a shuttle sent to us at 12:10-12:15 when they hadn't planned on sending a shuttle for the 12am arrival?? What if they got into a sprinter van thinking it was Fox's shuttle? What if they tried to charge us for dents/dings already on the vehicle?) and we actually ended up paying more than we thought we had in savings. The vehicle itself was okay, it definitely seemed like it has been used and abused. We babied it- but all functionalities seemed to work just fine. All and all we learned our lesson . Now that we know what to expect, I'll definitely take it into consideration for future trips requiring a rental vehicle.

The bus the driver brought was too small to accommodate all the people waiting. A family that had been waiting for 40 minutes decided to take a cab instead. On the way out there's a machine you drive by that snaps a picture of the car and opens the gate and boom, you're on the way! When it came time to return I followed the signs at the airport and eventually reached the lot for Hertz. When I parked the car someone grabbed the keys and checked the car back in. At the counter, the customer service agent pushed insurance and casually told me the "basic" coverage was $36. What he conveniently left out was that it was $36 PER DAY until I specifically asked. That absolutely felt intentional. Then came the EZ Pass upsell. I explained I'd only be using toll roads twice during the trip. The agent insisted I should buy the EZ Pass package for $11/day. Luckily, I later asked another employee what would happen if I declined it, and he told me Hertz would simply bill me for the tolls plus about a $10 fee. In other words, it would have been FAR cheaper to skip the EZ Pass entirely. Again, incredibly misleading. When I expressed frustration about all the fees and said I probably wouldn't rent with Hertz again, the employee actually argued with me and told me Hertz was "ranked #1," basically implying my concerns weren't valid. Arguing with customers instead of listening to them is terrible customer service. Then after returning the vehicle, Hertz charged me for 3 gallons of gas that I absolutely did not use. And to top it all off, they tried to claim I scratched the vehicle door, which is completely false. The return process now uses automated scanners instead of real employees inspecting the car with you present, so apparently customers are just expected to trust whatever the system says afterward. Now I get the pleasure of disputing damage that never happened. Overall, this was an awful experience. Misleading sales tactics, hidden-feeling fees, argumentative customer service, inaccurate fuel charges, and questionable damage claims. Negative 5 stars if I could. I will never use Hertz again.
