I tried calling this branch for several days to resolve the key handoff, but no one answered the phone or returned any calls, even after corporate documented the situation and instructed this location to reach out. Corporate confirmed my return and noted everything on my file, but the Barrie branch still provided no communication whatsoever. I had no transportation to bring the keys in person, and the lack of response from this location made a simple issue far more difficult than it should have been. When the branch finally did contact me, they asked for information I had already provided multiple times and offered no reasonable solution despite the situation stemming from their own lack of availability and communication. The customer service here was astonishingly poor, and the level of disorganization was shocking. Overall, this was an incredibly frustrating experience. If you need a dependable or responsive rental location, I would strongly recommend choosing a different company.

I was scammed by the tow truck who got a kick back from this company. My car was towed from an accident in Pickering/Scarborough border where I live in Pickering. The rental car was delivered to my home. I asked will they pick it up when the rental is over and they said yes. When the rental was over I was asked to return the car on Christmas eve. I asked can they not pick up the car since it was delivered the same way. They said no. When I realized this company was located off Hwy 400 north of Finch I called back but they closed early at 2 pm for Christmas eve. I then realized the reason they went out of the way, a 1 hour drive to my house, they did so to get my business. Who rents a car that is a 2 hour round trip and pays the gas to do so when I could have got a local car rental. The car was older for a rental a 2021 Toyota Corolla with dents and scratches all over. I talked to Jason and he said there is nothing he could do not even giving me a 50 dollar credit for the gas I had to use for 2 cars to drop off the car and the fact that I was lied to about them picking up the car. This company scams people. Please be careful and do not use them

    A few things weren't quite right with our experience here…read more 1) I phoned to let them know we were running late (so they didn't give away our rental) and the person on the other end of the phone was very gruff. They asked me what class of rental I had booked. I have no idea! I'm in the middle of a forest driving my car. Why don't they know? They've got my name and my booking - why don't they know what I booked? It's probably a computer thing - but fix it! 2) Luckily my husband remembered the class of car. So next I'm told they don't have what I booked, I'll have to take something smaller. Huh. why did they let me book if it they don't have it? Typically with my regular rental place, they upgrade me for no charge. (Avis did also downgrade the price to go with the smaller car - but there were lots of other cards available for in the lot. Luckily for us, my in laws were not feeling well enough to go out - so this smaller car sufficed.) 3) They *appear* to charge by the calendar day - not what I'm used to. I'm used to being charged by the 24 hour period. I wanted a car for 48 hours, and I was told at checkout that this was three days. (check out 2p Sat, return 2p Mon) 4) The contract only provided for 100Km/Day - typically I get unlimited local miles (i.e. - within the province). Our total bill for a small car was $148 for 2 days (36 hours - ended up returning late Sunday afternoon via key drop) which is quite a bit more than I typically pay at my regular vendor. I don't know how much was mileage vs Km as I did not get a receipt emailed to me. 5) The person serving us on Saturday bordered on rude when we first got there. They did eventually warm up but it was a hard sell. If you don't like your job, get a new one. No reason to be unhappy especially if you are in customer service. I feel bad for them; it's hard to go to work everyday when you don't enjoy the work. 5) The car was not as clean as I would have liked both inside and out. I cleaned the inside to the point where it was no longer distracting me. Overall, not what I'm used to or expected. We had no choice due to the timing - they were the only car rental open Saturday afternoon. So it is what it is. Would I return: I will try really hard to arrange my schedule next time to arrive in the A.M. if at all possible to avoid dealing with them again. I may not have a choice though. Would I recommend: No.

I reserved online but…read morewhen we got on location at the time we said we would be they wanted to charge us for 2 days instead of one because our pick up time was not within the 24 hours. The reservation online showed us the time we requested and the rate but once on location they weren't willing to honour what we had printed from the site. Lady said online is corporate and doesn't match in-store so too bad, nothing they can do or wanted to do! She couldn't have cared less! She was rude, unapologetic, didn't smile once and made very little attempt to even acknowledge us! We had to leave and come back 4 hours later! I will absolutely not rent from them again. There are other options.

When I arrived to pick up the truck, I was informed that a credit card was mandatory, which I wasn't prepared for since this was never mentioned. To make matters worse, the employee laughed in my face instead of being helpful or professional. I left and took my business elsewhere. U-Haul accommodated me immediately without a reservation and had a truck available on the spot. Budget staff didn't seem to care at all that I walked out and lost their business. So unprofessional. I will never recommend this location to anyone and will be sending everyone I know to U-Haul instead--their customer service is ten times better.

    Needed a last minute rental. Called and they said they couldn't pick me up as he was alone…read more Understandable. Rented the car for about 3 hrs. Attendant said he would give me a discount because of short rental period. I said " great thanks ". No discount given. Ok no problem. I then ask if I could get a ride home. (2.8km). Attendant said sorry but he was alone. There was an employee sitting down behind the desk making a comment on how she had nothing to do so they exercise at work. I could understand everything up until the refusal to give me a lift home. I slipped on the icy sidewalk and aggravated a pulled hamstring. Collecting money Customer service
