Compared to the rest of the Germany, this is probably the only gate have been in this architecture style. As soon as I saw this gate somewhere. I could recognised the city right away. And the gate also turn in the symbol of the city. You could serval local brand also use it one way and other as their logo or figure. The Holstentor itself isn't so big, but yet very well known and historical. This is no doubt one of the place you can't miss in Lübeck. My suggestion, try to walk along the river to get here, it'll be worth it.

After visiting several nights in a row, I noticed more variation. This market has sweets, meats, drinks, ornaments, jewelry, spices, toys, and a carousel. I loved the lights hanging from the pole in the middle to the town hall and the huge Christmas trees. There was also the large Weihnachtspyramide just off the main street. All the decorations were charming, especially after dark. Most places charge you €2 for the deposit on your mug, and will give you a token or piece of paper to bring back when you're done. There are public toilets on the west side, closest to the big department store.
