Regardless of this fact, Northern Star is absolutely taking advantage of their clients and overcharging on all fronts and the photos- the first one being an estimate from a VIRAL consultation with northern star on August 14th, 2020, and the second photo being from an In-person consultation I just had today with Dakota Valley in Burnsville- pretty much speak for themselves. As you can see from the first photo, Northern Star wanted to code two of my lower wisdom teeth as 'completely bony impacted'. I don't claim to be a dentist or claim to have the knowledge an oral surgeon has, but 'completely bony impacted', if you look it up, literally simply means "a tooth is completely inside of the bone and has not erupted through the gum," as in, it is not able to be seen in the mouth..... both of my lower wisdom teeth that they were claiming were "completely bony impacted" were visible in my mouth and had erupted through the gums. Another very questionable aspect was the fact that northern star tried to tell me that my four wisdom teeth would take 45 mins to 1 hr to extract, which meant they would get to charge me for a whole lot more for general anesthesia. The place I just had a consultation today told me, max, the entire procedure will take FIFTEEN MINUTES, because both the top teeth were a simple extraction and the bottom two, one was surgical completely erupted and the other is surgical partially bony. Northern Star mistook me for a young, naive 25 year old who wouldn't be bothered to do my own research or question what they were coding my wisdom tooth extraction as, which in essence, would've meant I would be getting charged ALOT more. Oh well- they lost a client and maybe this review will make them think twice about trying to FRAUDULENTLY miscode in order to overcharge unassuming clientele. DO YOUR RESEARCH.

I have several decayed teeth and was told I had to have them removed to prevent infection of the patch ASAP or the patch would fail causing a massive brain bleed that would cause my death. I had a referral per their requirement that even told them of the urgency. I explained all of this this to the scheduler who didn't care about my situation and said the soonest they could get me in for just a consultation would be in June and the procedure would be even later! I was able to get an appt with Pro Dental in Blaine for this Thursday. I would never go to The Dental Specialists as they don't really care about people.

The doctor was a complete jerk and because she had to have special anesthesia was irritated that he had to apply it every 15 minutes. Why would someone want a needle jammed in their mouth every 15 mins if they didn't need it? She could have had her throat close up and died from it. He then proceeded to say at the end of the procedure that he was almost done so he didn't need to apply it again and it wore off. He then worked on her for 30 mins after the anesthesia wasn't working. It's been three months and she is still having problems with her mouth because of this unprofessional arrogant know it all. Needless to say, if you have any thing out of the ordinary then this doctor is not for you. He owns this place and thinks he's king of the endodontic world. It was a long procedure and the dentist and his assistance checked in with me multiple times to see how I was doing and helping me to be comfortable. Initially the front office had told me that they would not be able to verify my insurance because it was the weekend (and even suggested that I might come back the next day), but when the crown procedure was diagnosed and recommended they were able to verify the insurance (which covered 50 percent of the cost). Very glad to have landed in this office and might choose to use them for non-emergency dental work as well.
