Having been a member of a very similar church in the Detroit metro area, I was hoping to witness…read morethe same positive characteristics: freedom in Christ from man's traditions, simplicity of biblical truth, and a passionate love for God, His people and the lost. The "pastor" taught on the Lord's last supper with His apostles and stated that the disciples had no idea what Passover was supposed to be about. (Huh?) Then both he and the amazingly uneducated youth pastor continued to make incorrect references to basic old testament people and events. Its almost as if they'd never read their Bible. Suffice it to say, it was difficult to stop myself from screaming out and choking these idiots who claim to be teachers of God's truth. I have no idea why this congregation has become popular over the last twenty years. Perhaps it started well and became a cool trend or perhaps it's just another avenue for people to "hear what their itching ears want to hear" for they are merely "blind guides leading the blind." Perhaps when the told me (in writing) that if doctrine was important to me I should go somewhere else, they really meant, "If you actually know your Bible you won't be able to stomach our ignorance."

There was a helpful greeter at the door, the pastor friendly and relatable, and the music during communion was moving. If you're looking for a Sunday Mass to get to, it's easy access if you're coming off of I-94, as I just drove down the Cooper Street exit for about a mile.

I attended this church for about 6-7 weeks last year (2022). It is a small church and mostly an…read moreolder crowd. The people were very sweet. There is a good food ministry and children's clothing outreach there. The problem was the pastor and elders. They hired an assistant pastor who worked for about 6 weeks. All of a sudden they abruptly fired him. They never followed the scriptures about what to do with a problem with a brother. They just reported it in front of the church one Sunday morning. They told the church that "it was mutual between he and the pastor, that he should leave". A few days later, I heard my name called in Meijer's while shopping. It was this brother that was fired in our church. He told me in a short convo that he had no clear idea why he was fired. This bothered my spirit quite a bit. I met with the pastor, on this and questioned what happend. He had an attitude and claimed that he was hoping this assistant pastor would be "my best friend". He acted very immature and defensive with me- but never gave any real strong case for abruptly letting him go. Then, this pastor acted snarky with me for asking. This brother, that they fired had a wife and teenage daughter too. This put them in a terrible bind with housing and hardship. They allowed his family to stay some extra time in the old parsonage he was given. I am not sure what happened after that. I was in all astonishment. This was not good fruit. This pastor / elders need to learn what the word "Harmony" means- because their actions are far from their churches name out front. Also, there is a learning curve in any new job. Plus, to follow what the scriptures say about having a problem with a brother. I would not recommend this church leadership to anyone seriously seeking the Lord.
