We have a carport and put our family car under it which keeps our toddler out of the elements a little bit. We are on the top floor so we don't hear much noise from our neighbors. Nothing in the unit seems "cheap" which is a breath of fresh air. Other apartments in this price range are typically outdated from what I've seen. I wish the parking lot lighting was a bit better, but all in all I'm very happy. I called to alert them that my mailbox key doesn't work and they called back quickly and are resolving the issue the same day.

When I received a job offer in Pontiac, MI last year, my boyfriend and I didn't have much time to find a place to live. Because I wanted to find the perfect apartment on one income, this involved traveling to over 60 different complexes between Royal Oak, Livonia, Clarkston, Waterford, and all surrounding areas. You name an apartment and we probably at least looked at it online. We first found Lancaster Hills on our second (and last) day of searching. It was the first apartment we had found for the day and although we both loved it, I wanted to see the other places on my list. Needless to say, we ended up finding nothing that even came close to comparing to Lancaster Hills! The apartment was spacious, it was economical, it had two full bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a HUGE kitchen, and then there s the VIEW! The view in our back yard is of a small wooded area and it s just beautiful. I do have a small list of things I'd like to see improved: The lighting in the parking lots and roads is not so great. You have to be very careful going around curves at night so you don't hit deer or people walking their dogs. The other downside is the parking lots. While Lancaster Lakes IS making progress on getting these redone, it is slow. There are pretty big potholes in the parking lots - You have to watch your step, especially in the winter when the snow is covering them. The only other thing on the outside I would recommend is some painting and touching up to the buildings - When we go down our stairs, the window is just beautiful, but it's so full of cobwebs and hasn't been painted in a while. My only complaint about the inside of the apartment is the water - We started having issues with our dishes having this type of filmy/powder on them. Turns out it's from calcium in the water. That all said, I don't know if it's something that Lancaster Lakes can fix, but they have offered recommendations: For dishwashers, use LemiShine. It'll help keep it off your dishes. For water, just use a filtered water system. Although there were some negatives listed, they are not NEARLY bad enough to get us to move We've lived here now for just over a year and just recently renewed our lease here. I would highly recommend living here to anyone. We have wonderful neighbors and Clarkston in general is just a great city. The office staff is great and after looking at SEVERAL other places, Lancaster Lakes offers the most room for the price. The maintenance staff is prompt and friendly, and we couldn't be happier here! ====================================== UPDATE 11/22/2013: After renewing our lease, less than a month later we found out we were moving to Washington for work. While they could not show the apartment or anything, the office staff made me finding someone to take over the lease an easy one. I posted a couple of ads on Craigslist, had a local family member show the apartment, and did all the paperwork and everything over the internet (we had been in Washington about three months before I finally found someone to take over). I still keep in touch with the office every now and then and would not hesitate to move back there IN A MINUTE! I hope to one day end up back in the Clarkston area and I will DEFINITELY be moving to Lancaster! :)

The entire staff is top-notch people, and they do all they can to keep the tenants happy. The maintenance crew is the best. They always respond to your maintenance request in a very timely manner. One of the maintenance workers name Brian came out yesterday and corrected my problem, and he explained to me the details surrounding my concerns. He was very professional in everything that he did. I have experienced the same professionalism from every maintenance personnel at the apartment complex. It is obvious that they love their work along with they know what they're doing. We had a little bit of a plumbing emergency this week at my fiance's house, and when he called his…read moreusual plumbing company they said their first available appointment was in a WEEK. I called a company I had used before, Precision Plumbing, and they said they could be there that day; however, later in the day, they asked if they could outsource to an affiliate of theirs, which ended up being Zoom Drain. Precision had guaranteed me an arrival time after 5pm; I received a text from Zoom Drain saying they'd text me 30-45 minutes before they arrive, and Precision told me Zoom would be there 2-6pm. I received a call around 2pm and they showed up around 2:30pm. Wyatt, the technician that showed up (there were two people, I believe, though) was able to quickly diagnose the problem and fix it. They were in and out within half an hour. The total price was $666 (ominous, ha) and that included the time and the work - they had to move both toilets to get to the pipes, my fiance said (I was working downstairs during that time), unclog both, and then put both back. Would use Zoom Drain again - I see they're in Clarkston, same as Precision Plumbing (Troy area, but their tech was in Clarkston that day too), but they were able to come to my fiance's house in Farmington Hills which was nice.

We moved into our house a few months ago and noticed a downspout over our driveway was creating puddles above our basement during heavy rains and snow melt. I reached out to several companies that were highly-rated on Yelp. Only one company returned my voicemail -- a month later. Someone came by to give an estimate and promised to send it the next day, but I never heard from them. When reached out after a week , they told me it would cost $510 to remove the downspout, plug the hole in the gutter, and redirect that gutter to another downspout. I was willing to move forward with this work, but I was really discouraged by their lack of communication. I thought there had to be at least one company with good reviews who would respond in a timely way, so I decided to check the companies advertising to us by mail. Of those, only one company had consistently positive reviews online -- J.R. England. My experiences working with J.R. England could not have been more different than the negative and confusing interactions I had or read about with other companies. Kate and Ryan are a husband and wife team. Kate responded to me in under an hour, visited our home the next morning, and completed a series of estimates for me before the end of business hours that day. I was impressed by her responsiveness, knowledge, generosity, and demeanor. Similarly, Ryan completed the repair a day after I approved the estimate, and he was friendly and forthcoming with his expertise -- never intimidating, condescending, or pushy. On top of all that, the repair turned out great, and unlike the previous company, he was willing to install an all new gutter, without any need to plug a hole, for just $350!
