I purchased a living social deal here a little while back, $29 for a chiropractic exam and hour-long massage. I've been having headaches lately and wondered if a few adjustments might help, and who couldn't use an hour long massage? I understand the point of these deals is to get you in the door. I assumed I would be upsold, and they would try to make me a patient. As soon as my voucher was active I called for the first available appointment, Friday morning. I sit in the waiting room listening to a weight loss pyramid scheme infomercial while I hand over my ID, fill out my medical history, and family history. They take x-rays, and I am given a mini-adjustment which includes the doctor turning my neck once to each side until we hear an effective crunch. I am there for an hour. I don't get a massage, I don't schedule a massage, I am told to come back on Monday morning. That afternoon I am in more pain thanks to my mini adjustment. Monday morning, sitting in the waiting room watching more of the infomercial. I am told I have to watch a video on chiropractic care. 15 minutes later the girl behind the counter walks me back to see the doctor. "Are you married?" (You know I'm married because I just listened to you just call my insurance company to see how much they would cover.) Yes. "Is your husband here?" (I've been sitting 2 feet in front of you in an empty waiting room for over 15 minutes, have you seen my husband?) No. "Oh, the doctor really prefers your husband be here for the second visit, but that's ok." ( A: Why would my husband need to be here? Is it 1950? B: Why would you wait until walking me back to mention this?) After explaining how I had damaged my spine without knowing it and if left alone I would definitely need surgery, I was shown my Spinal Corrective Care Plan and told that he could fix me in just 40 visits over 6 months. If I pre-paid the total today he'd offer me the generous discount of 20% off the $2880 total. Or I can do half today and half in 45 days? Which will we be doing today? ::sigh:: Assume the sale. This is why people don't trust chiropractors. "You've given me a lot to think about." He walks me back out to schedule my massage. I stand and wait. I sit and wait. 15 minutes later the receptionist calls the massage therapist and leaves a voice mail. She tells me she will call me this afternoon or tomorrow (Tuesday). "Mornings are best for you, right?" Yes. I get no call. I call Wednesday, I am told to call back Thursday. I call back Friday. I am kept on hold for 10 minutes with no touch back. I am told the massage therapist is not calling the receptionist back and the receptionist is going to have the doctor call the massage therapist. !!! I am told to call back Monday. I have paid for a service that for one reason or another you are unable to provide, and you want me to check in every day until you figure out things on your end? I call back Tuesday. She says they found out the reason the massage therapist wasn't calling them back was because she had a cold/flu thing. ??? She put me on hold again, for another 10 minutes with no touch backs, and offered me a massage appointment. A week from today at 3 pm. She has nothing sooner, and nothing earlier in the day. I take it. I get a call 17 minutes and 9 minutes prior to my appoint to confirm I'm coming. The massage itself was ok, the massage therapist was friendly and seemed to care about my concerns. I'd see the massage therapist again but you couldn't pay me to deal with this chiropractor's office again. read more
