Everytime I travel I do my best to find an independent bookstore to visit and buy a book (or more!) from. I was passing through Quincy on the way home and saw this one on the route and it looked cute in the pictures! The shop had a good selection of new and used books and accessories and gifts! However, not once did the lady behind the counter say a word to me. No welcome to the store. No check in while browsing. She checked someone out and didn't really talk to them and then picked up her book and started reading. No thanks for visiting in the way out. Shocking she was a little bit older than me so "should know better" with customer service. I'm not looking for much - just a hello. I found a few books I would have purchased but I'll save my money for someone who gives a darn. read more

I really liked this bookstore, in particular their selection of gift type items and that they have used books too. But I was taken aback by the unwelcoming greeting to two teenage girls. They were essentially greeted with a "you can't be here without a parent" right away. The poor girls had to explain their mom was parking and would be right there. I get that kids can create a mess, but maybe greeting them warmly first, then explaining the store policy, would work better. I am not sure I would want to buy anything in the store if I was one of those teens. read more

I have always been a huge supporter of shopping local but sadly I will no longer shop at this bookstore. The woman behind the counter does not greet nor smile any time I have visited the store. I have purchased items and books every time I've been there and gave the woman at the counter a little grace bc we all have bad days. But, I visited the store with my niece and her toddler to pick up a preordered book that we had already paid for in advance. While we were there my nephew picked up a small book, we verbalized out loud that he could get the book and the woman behind the counter got very rude because he was looking at the book, specifically the sticker page. We were the only customers in the store at this time so I am confident that she heard me say yes to buying the book. She was told that we are purchasing the book so it's not a concern if the sticker page was bent. Normally we would have browsed a little more but choose to take our selections to the counter and pay. Her attitude, rude comments, and lack of customer service as a small business owner is disgraceful! Clearly this woman is not running this small business to food on the table bc if her livelihood depended on the success of her shop her attitude and customer service would be impeccable! If your bookstore is merely a hobby bc you are so well off then I suggest you find a new hobby that doesn't involve the public! Readers have a great deal of respect for books and it is very sad that the shop owner cannot express the same level of respect back to her customers! There is a fantastic and abundant selection in the store, maybe you should pick up one of those self help books and read it since you never make eye contact or remove yourself from the counter. read more

You need to work on being nicer to young people. My mature preteen daughter was browsing through books and kept being hounded... saying she couldn't set her stack of books certain places while she browsed, demanding multiple times for her to take her books up to the front desk even though she wasn't done making final selections... it's like nothing she did was ever right. She wasn't making trouble, but she felt like she was constantly being scolded for completely arbitrary things, even though I was close at hand and making sure we were treating the books with respect during our visit. This isn't the first time we've had trouble with subpar customer service here, but it'll be the last. I'm more than happy to take my child to a Barnes and Noble instead. So much for shopping local! read more

Such a cute bookstore!!! I'm a HUGE book lover and this store had a great selection of books! Very nice section for new and upcoming books, and holiday themed ones as well. The workers were nice as well! My favorite part of the area was the blind date with a book, and the booktok sections. Also had a very nice gift section as well as some nice chairs to sit and read at, Highly recommend checking this place out especially if you love books! read more

It's always amazing to see a local bookstore still standing in this day and age. I've never felt anything less than welcome every time I've come into the establishment, and the owner has never been anything but friendly. It's a cozy little spot - quiet, and the playlists never disappoint. It's spacious, and you never feel crowded, even when people are in the same isle as you. I've never left without finding something to bring home with me, often not even the thing I went in for initially. I highly recommend a visit, if you haven't already. It's local spots like this that give the city that good community energy. read more

Slim selection of books. I can deal with that, but the owner is extremely rude. I was browsing books for 10-15 minutes and she waddled over to tell me that her store isn't a library. If I want to open a book I must buy it. read more
