Rolling with new people is already concerning, especially since I'm an older grappler (59), but Dan and his crew made me feel incredibly welcomed. He introduced me to some of his instructors, and I ended up having some solid technical rolls with some great people. Everyone was super attentive, and eyes were on the mat the whole time, making sure everyone stayed safe. The environment in the gym was communal, and it was awesome to see families training together, husbands, wives, and kids. From start to finish, I felt welcome, and more importantly, felt safe. Very soon we found out that some of these Karate-Type babysitting services might be fun, but were not the REAL DEAL!
