Lunch special The Founders
Ricky E.

Truly delicious. I am not usually craving pizza but today decided to do something different. I am glad I did! They have this solid lunch special where you get two squares and a small salad for about $14. I ordered the Founders which was absolutely amazing. The way the crust is crispy crunchy and flavor profile of spicy jalapeños with hot honey?! Say no more. Its very clean I side and the service is friendly. I highly recommend

Can definitely appreciate offering diversity in pizza styles that Emmy Squared has brought to Charlottesville. The Detroit style packs a flavor profile and consistency that is unique and tasteful. The toppings were plentiful and the pizza was well-made. My biggest point of contention is the value. An 8"x10" cheese pizza is $18.50 and 6 finger length garlic cheese bread sticks are $13. Both should be just over half this price. For that price, I would take Pi-Napo or Lampo for quality and value, any day. For the steep price, not matching the size and volume, will likely not return but definitely worth a try during unique occasions.

The pizza has a perfectly cooked crust that is crispy but not hard, the sauce has great flavor, and the different topping and sauce options make for a lot of customizable flavors. The service is quick and attentive. Pepperoni or sausage makes the pizza greasier than I would prefer, but the same is true anywhere, and the other topping options do not make it too greasy.

Amazing, 10/10 no notes. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves a good pizza. We went back in like early February for lunch and it was just us & four other tables. Ambiance was immaculate and our server was very knowledgeable and friendly, had some great recommendations! Left beyond stuffed and quite pleased with the entire experience.

This is a strip mall location that isn't among Charlottesville's most charming, though the interior is fine enough. I stopped in seeking a seasonal special with pesto and banana peppers. If I'm being honest, it wasn't the best pizza I've had in various visits to different Emmy Squared locations; the onions tasted a little bit off and the sauce was too tangy for a pizza for me. The crust was as crisp as you'd hope for this style of pizza, and Detroit-style pizza is likely new to the Charlottesville area and it is a pleasure that I recommend trying. I also got a brussels sprout salad, and while you don't always go to pizza places for the salads, the combination of flavors in this one is fantastic. Takeout was a straightforward experience. This is not a place that has a lot to offer for people who don't do dairy.

I liked Emmy squared a lot and I'd be back in. The ambiance is business casual. It's not a true casual place because they are a bit more dressed up with table settings. Servers will offer still and sparkling water. So it's appropriate for a business lunch but still is family friendly. Just not as casual as Christian's, five guys or other true casual places in cville. Service was awesome. Our server was brand new but was polite fast and super friendly. The staff he leaned on for support were also really nice. All the food was awesome. Hawaiian pizza was our fav. Our burger fanatic friends rated their burger a 7-8/10. Their fav in cville for reference is riverside or jack browns. They said this burger is more expensive and doesn't come with sides, hence the knock down, but taste wise it's great. They did say it's super greasy so we ready for it to be a bit messy. The apps are all awesome, mozz sticks were fantastic. Waffle fries with cheese were so good. 2 entrees and an app came out to $50, drinks and other things are more expensive so expect to pay about $30pp. Overall, the food is good and I'd be back.

SERVICE We walked in on a late evening and while the mall plaza was busy we were able to park outside. Walked in and were quickly seated at a table indoors. We did not choose the patio. Our server came by with drinks and offered us a chance to ask questions. We weren't super hungry so decided to order a XL size or the 10 slice version of the Deluxe. Our waters were delivered but needs some extra prodding to be refilled. FOOD After 15-20 minutes, our pizza was delivered and placed on a rack. This spot supposedly delivers a delicious Detroit-style thick crust but also the foldable Brooklyn pizza mix, served in a stylish, comfortable setting. It definitely had generous toppings with spicy sausage, fresh peppers, and mushrooms and the expected Midwestern cheese type. The pizza was not as doughy or structurally sound as Detroit style pizza...and definitely needed a fork and knife to eat...but still delicious. It is light on the tomato sauce which some may not like as much. AMBIANCE It's definitely a space that is super casual and modern with a bar kind of inviting vibe. Large windows and communal tables makes for a friendly atmosphere, perfect for groups or solo diners or takeout orders.

Tried the DC locations a few years ago and was curious when this opened up in charlottesville. I thought the vibe was more casual in DC but they seemed to try for a fine dining experience here? The waiter offered us still or sparkling and we thought that was our only option for water (instead of just mentioning tap) so we paid extra for the saratoga water bottles unfortunately. Margharita pizza was lacking and felt like it needed more sauce. Overall impression was that they need to figure out what theyre going for!

In case you have never been they offer steaks that are cooked in a brick fire oven. AMAZING I ordered the VA sirloin which was cooked to perfection (medium rare) with creamed spinach and potatoes. The creamed spinach and the potatoes were very delicious and flavorful. I also ordered the fried oysters which were great. Not overly fried and still maintained the texture and flavor of a typical oyster. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was very entertaining and helpful. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She ensured that wanted for nothing. The ambiance was great. I loved the cow theme as well as the signage that stated "no well done steaks". It was a great touch. Overall, I had a great experience. If I am in Charlottesville again I will definitely visit.

Wait time from store to store is usually pretty short, but waiting for actual food can be 2 minutes to 15 depending on who you go to. This is a clean, no-nonsense, down to earth BBQ place and it's delicious! I've been several times since they've opened & haven't been disappointed. I've come in during dinner & almost closing, and the food has been consistently good. The pictured dishes are the platters with 2 meats & 2 sides. I couldn't finish my platter & had the rest for lunch (still delicious cold) a couple days after. The standout for me (besides the meats) were the onion rings! These are NOT the pre-frozen ones. These are fresh-cut, seasoned, & breaded, and they are ADDICTIVE! They make other ones look sad. The baked beans are cooked with brisket pieces. The sandwiches are generous, too. The meats are smoked, tender & delicious. The sauces are also handmade, not bottled. So, you're going to have sample for your preferred flavor & heat. Not a problem because they have little sauce cups that you can use. I will definitely be patronizing this locally owned & run establishment.
