Sustainable. Breathtaking. Luxurious. If cost is not a showstopper, this is an absolutely essential experience in Australia. It is a rather infrequent combination where luxury and environmental sustainability merge, to create an unparalleled experience. With a focus on conservation, the lands protected by this property are vast and beautiful. Coming here is literally following Darwin's footsteps, including the 1932 homestead that has been restored. Horseback riding, mountain biking and watching wildlife are probably the top ways to spend time here. The more, the better. Each villa comes with a Trek bike to take to the bush. Observe wombats, wallabies and kangaroos throughout the property and surroundings. Gorgeous birds as well. The food and wine is inclusive. The wine selections are local and the inclusive ones are quite excellent. The meals are Michelin grade quality, from lamb, to pumpkin ravioli, to the waffles and pastries. All was a solid 5 stars. The design and conservation was paramount. No reusable plastics, refillable water bottles, solar power throughout. It's a hotel of the future. The most incredible resort I've ever been to. The service is second to none. The quality of the furnishings and products on the property are top notch. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and professional. The Spa: Wow! We ended up going several times during our stay and then bought a bunch of their products. It was an amazing experience each time. The Food: Very good, but it's the same menu every day so you can't stay for more than a few days without it getting tiring. Activities: the picnic was magical. I won't ruin it for you, but it takes "picnics" to a whole new level. I also typically refuse to ride horses at resorts because they are rarely treated well but this is not the case here. The horses live in absolute luxury and the trainers are professional riders. The archery activity was also surprisingly fun! It's a relaxing and beautiful place. Wolgan Valley is a piece of heaven just three hours' drive from Sydney. It is a place for a short romantic getaway, perfect for any special occasion celebration. The service is top notch; all the employees are friendly and very professional. When you arrive into the resort, there is someone to escort you (with your luggage) in an SCV into the 4000 acres resort compound. At the front desk reception, you will be served with wine or champagne while they check in you and give you a brief introduction of the resort. All the meals are delicious since they source all ingredients no further than 180km from the resort. There are two free activities per day but make sure you save enough time to enjoy the suite. With a heated private pool in each suite and a cozy fireplace, it is difficult to leave your suite to do anything else! I would also recommend riding your bike around compound near sunset, there are heaps of animals roaming around, perfect for a photography opportunity. The only negative comment would probably be the restaurant service. Like what many travelers mentioned in their reviews, service was a little random. On our first night, dinner service was spot on (Dylan is awesome!), but on our second night, an 8 course meal took over 2.5 hours (we left at the 7th course), it was as if the waitress had forgotten about us. Even though the price tag is hefty, I would recommend spending at least three nights as there are so much to do and enjoy. I am already looking forward to going back to Wolgan! read more

This place is absolutely breathtaking. I am so glad we decided to come here as a "break" in the middle of our vacation from Sydney. If you need car service to get here, use the company recommended by the hotel. It's obvious that the driver was familiar with the route and he was basically giving us a mini tour on our drive there and back. We actually had Amex and our hotel in Sydney get quotes for us, and the price all ended up about the same. The villas are amazing. Private pool. Screened in deck. HUGE walk-in closet. HUGE soaking tub. Tubs are my thing when I travel, and the tubs are long. I'm 5'6" and I can practically lay flat in the tubs. So tall people, you will LOVE this. The bed is also AMAZING. Like no joke...I have a back/spine issue, so I generally travel with a ton of ibuprofen when I travel. I slept way better here than I do at home! The mattress here are custom made for O&O Wolgan Valley and you can actually order them! The staff was super informative about what we would need to do if we order one and ship it to the States. The rooms also have a good selection of drinks and snacks if you need. Food is also another great thing here. I think their goal is to stuff you full of food all day here. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks in the lounge, snacks on outings, snacks in your room. My favorite are breakfast and lunch...probably because by the time it's dinner, I'm still full from the day and am barely eating. We took advantage of the free activities, and it was a good way to get familiar with the property. Your villas also have two bikes, so you can bike on the trails to explore. We ended up just walking/hiking. The paths we were one are used by horses and vehicles, so you really can't get lost. The only time we had a problem was trying to find the creekside path since we were looking for it from the "other end." If you want to venture far out onto the property, you can get a radio/walkie-talkie from the front desk in case you need help getting back. This place really is the total package.
