Recently I went back and nothing had changed. Still the same great-tasting, divine-smelling pizzas that I find myself comparing to when I eat pizzas these days. The chefs at Vivaldi are of Italian heritage with many years experience. There are plenty of classics on the menu, with all food made to order guaranteeing freshness. Fresh handmade pasta and woodfired pizza. For added excitemen there are weekly specials from diffent regions of Italy. With great Italian boutique beer and beer on tap. To start a great garlic pizza straight outta the woodfired oven. Accompany this with the antipasto which is a must, containing an assortment of quality cured meat, including pickled anchovies(actually quite nice), house made pickled veg and cheese. The woodfired pizza's arrived at the table. A couple of masterpieces. The de avola the pick, with hot sardinian salami with black ligurian olives, spanish onion and chilli. With a high ceiling and plenty of room decorated with a dark wooden theme for a comfortable homely dining experience, Raffaele (the owner's) entertains guests with his colourful stories and occasionally sitting down and having a drink and chat with diners. Food we ate: For starters we had bruschetta with a generous drizzle of olive oil. The toast was crunchy and parried well with the refreshing tomato. Next on the menu were the Frittelle Di nannata baby whitebait fritters that the owner has a personal connection and story to tell about from his childhood. These fritters were absolutely jammed with whitebait and fried to golden crispy perfection. Definitely use the dip provided with them! Our main dish was a huge thin crust eggplant pizza. Our friendly owner works closely with staff in the pizza area, putting his qualifications from pizza university into practice! The pizza toppings were quadriple layered and filled with eggplant, mozzarella and parmesan. The layering allowed flavours from each component of the dish to come through. Inbetween our main and dessert, the owner insisted us to have a Limoncello. Just like all the dishes served here, the drink was made from scratch with raw ingredients. This was complimented with our dessert of Ricotta and candied orange cannoli. This cannoli is to die for, it literally tastes like cheesecake! Overall, we thought that the attention to detail by the owner and staff members of the restaurant was faultless and it was an authentic insight into an italian dinner. They've been in the business for over 30 years. Beginning in the 1970'z, they offered alternatives to the regular cheese and tomato options, they soon became popular with their creative flavour combinations. They've have continued to grow, and now have stores in a number of locations: Randwick, Paddington and now also Bexley, Maroubra, Glebe and Rosebery. Arthur's stores have a family atmosphere and super casual which makes it a comfortable place to socialise. That, in combination with reasonable prices makes for a good eat in or takeaway option. We visited in a group so were able to sample a variety of things from the menu including entrees, pizza, pasta and salads. Entree wise we ate the saucy meatballs and garlic prawns - these were cooked and served in thick tomato type sauce so a lot of the flavour was retained. Pizzas come in different sizes; small, medium, large and family. There's plenty of flavour combinations, but you can pay a little extra if you want any additions. There's also Gluten free options. We had the following pizzas - all really good choices! The 'Tex Mex' is awesome. Beef, pepperoni, onion, tomato, jalepeno's and chilli w/ a side of sour cream and avocado. It's seriously delicious. I haven't tried the 'Nachos' one but want to. It has corn chips (!), bolognese, tomato, kidney beans and sour cream. When I wasn't eating meat I swapped the meat for kidney beans on the 'Tex Mex and it was delicious. The guys are really relaxed in there and are willing for you to build your own pizza. There is a huge selection of pastas, seafood and salads. Everything is really fresh and they also have gluten free available.
