I had two photographers from the emilie inc. team and they did a FANTASTIC job at our wedding! I was confident based on the portfolios I had seen, and they delivered. I love the style and how well they blended the natural environment and elements of our venue into the shots. There's a great balance between the details and the documentary style shots, and candid portraits of the wedding party and guests. Leading up to the wedding, we had no problem getting our questions answered and paying through their online invoicing system. We were able to visit the office and meet our photographers ahead of time and the whole experience was wonderful. We were welcomed with warmth and cupcakes! They pay attention to the details of the whole experience. This is a top-notch company. I had two disappointments (which is the reason why I didn't give a 5-star review. It would be 4.5 if I could!). The first is that photog team did not set up any fill lights for the formal portraits. I should have asked about this ahead of time, but I thought it was standard for professional portraits. At least at every wedding I have been to, there were a few diffusers or flashes set up even if the shooters were photojournalism/documentary style wedding photographers. The faces and eye sockets are more shadowed than I would have hoped. Also, in retrospect, we weren't getting any fun alternate angles for the group portraits, like looking over our shoulders, holding out our bouquets, holding hands, or moving to have a different background such as the lake in addition to having trees as the background. Alas! The second disappointment is that despite two photogs being there for over an hour while there was live music at our reception, we didn't receive a single image of the amazing seven-piece band in action. I would definitely recommend emilie inc. - just make sure you communicate about exactly what your expectations are ahead of time. Once the wedding schedule gets rolling, it is hard to remember your photography wish list. We absolutely LOVED working with Emilie! Not only is her work amazing, she herself is an awesome person! Finding the right photographer you can rely on to capture the essence and beauty of a wedding can be a stressful task for any bride. We got so lucky to have been able to book emilie for our full wedding weekend (3 days) with just under 3.5 months out from our date. The original photographers we had fell through which was devastating to us at the time (the universe had a big & better plan for us!). After countless emails and chats w/ other photographers in the area we thought we may just have to settle. But, then I had remembered seeing these amazing photos of the venue we were getting married at. Shortly after discovering (less than 48 hours later) who shot those photos we were sitting in the beautiful emilie inc. studio chatting with the one and only emilie herself! emilie was kind enough to take time out of her Sunday with the family to meet at the office because it had worked best with our schedule. EM greeted us with a hug, cookies, mixed nuts and tea! (I think at that moment I had my mind already made up ) We both fell in love with emilie's smile and her warm personality then and there. She's truly blessed with a gift. Nicole (studio manager) communicated with us on every detail through the rest of the process leading up to our big weekend. Nicole did an excellent job breaking it all down and linking us to everything and anything we needed. We loved the thoughtful card and bottle of bubbly she sent to congratulate! So, we had emilie shoot our Friday night rehearsal dinner/sunset cruise, the wedding day and Sunday pancake brunch. Lindsay (second photographer) also joined emilie for the wedding day. We had also booked the photo booth (so much fun) for after the ceremony which Emerson attended to. emilie had prepared a very detailed schedule for the wedding day and the flow of it was just perfect. With everything going on I can not believe how smooth the weekend went and how much was captured. At times it felt like EM ("fly on the wall") and Lindsay weren't even there but anytime we needed one of them they were actually right there! Never once felt any pressure from either one and both were so thoughtful on suggestions given throughout the days. All and all, emilie and her team delivered far above our expectations on all accounts. I honestly do not believe we could have been put in better hands for our wedding photography experience. To put it simply, choosing Emilie was one of the best choices we made during the wedding planning process. We found Emilie online in searching for New England photographers and were so happy she was available for the weekend of our wedding on Martha's Vineyard, and was willing to travel. We have so many overwhelmingly positive things to say about Emilie- my husband and I both agree that we don't know what we would have done without her! And, here's the long version :) *Photography* If you've seen Emilie's portfolio or blog, it goes without saying that her photography is exceptional. Prior to the wedding, she sent us a detailed survey with many thoughtful questions regarding day-of logistics, names of our family members and wedding party, and desired groupings of family / friends for formal portraits. Her attention to detail was critical here and she made sure our formal portraits were efficient and fun. She took remarkable candid photographs of us and our guests too, all while remaining unobtrusive and kind. We mentioned to Emilie before the wedding that we loved how she captured the surrounding scenery in wedding photographs on her blog - our gallery includes extensive images of the landscapes and our venues that beautifully set the scene for all of the wedding events. It is impossible to be everywhere on your wedding day, and as the bride and groom there are so many details and interactions you miss - Emilie is so thorough and observant that she captures them all. We were married less than a month ago, and just received our full gallery of photographs (even more than promised, in less time!). The photos are gorgeous and we, and our families, already treasure them. *Organization / Communication* Before our wedding, Emilie was completely prompt and kind in communication and took the time to get to know us prior to the big day. We never actually met Emilie before the wedding because we live on the West Coast, but by the time the wedding arrived we felt like she was already a friend. Few things are more helpful in a wedding vendor than prompt and thorough responses to emails. Emilie responds quickly and kindly to questions at any point in the planning process whether related to photography or not, makes timely suggestions, and is unfailingly positive and fun. She seemed to smile the whole weekend, even when she was on her feet working for 8 hours. Her optimistic and helpful personality was noticed by our guests. She has a remarkable ability to make everyone feel comfortable and as if they're long-time friends, from our 6 year old flower girl who felt shy at first in the rehearsal to my grandmother who said after the wedding that Emilie was one of the best parts of the whole weekend. *Wedding Weekend* Other than each other, Emilie was the person we spent the most time with the whole weekend - she was there from the ceremony rehearsal through our post-wedding brunch, and her friendliness, kindness, and calm were so essential to us. When the bridal party was running late, she effortlessly kept us calm and helped us stay close to schedule. When our rehearsal felt briefer than we had hoped, she checked in with us to be sure we felt comfortable with the order and offered to talk through any questions she could help with based on the many weddings she's photographed. She thinks of everything - giving us brief tips on the best way to cut the cake or having extra power bars on hand to share with us as we rode back to the venue after our church ceremony. I was very concerned about forecasted wedding day rain because I had my heart set on doing outdoor formal portraits. I emailed Emilie a couple of days before the wedding to ask her thoughts- her response really sums up so many of the positive qualities she has - she reassured me that there is always, in her 13 years of photographing weddings, a break in the rain, promised to come by the venue the day before to scope out backup locations for indoor portraits anyway, recommended some great fun umbrella ideas, and, when our wedding day was misty and chilly, never once complained about taking outdoor portraits and had the same upbeat positivity she likely has when it's 75 degrees and sunny. Overall, Emilie perfectly balances true professionalism with genuine warmth and a sense of humor - she is constantly helpful while never pushy, and is promptly responsive while still making you feel like you are her priority (all, of course, while photographing a wedding nearly every weekend). Her photographs perfectly tell the story of our weekend. I know it's common for brides to feel let down after the wedding or a bit sad that it's over, but the two things keeping me from feeling that way at all are that everyone had so much fun and that Emilie captured it all beautifully. Love, love, love Emilie Inc! I stumbled onto Emilie Inc. while researching different studios online. I was immediately interested in booking a photographer from this studio because their portfolios are breathtaking. After our one-on-one meeting with the lovely Emilie and Denise, Nate and I were sold! On our wedding day, Denise was on-time, friendly to our guests and hustled to capture our special moments during the ceremony. After the ceremony, Denise was organized and quickly photographed several poses, which was important to us since we wanted to spend time visiting with our family and friends. As the light softened, Denise took us around Black Point Inn to capture a few intimate photos of us. We enjoyed chatting with her as we walked the property, and we also appreciated the locations she suggested (the rocks were fun!).
