Sunday, July 16 2023 We were a party of eight, ages ranging from 40 to 80 years old, on a Sunday late afternoon with reservation at 3:30pm. Service was very good with personnel attentive and polite. Ambiance was nothing to talk about. Food was mediocre, bread was burnt on bottom. Calamari appetizer was terrible, no flavor, sauce was bland and we did not finish it. My Pork Braciola with Homemade Cavatelli was below average, sauce was bland, pasta overcooked. Italian wine was served at 70deg room temperature, needed to be chilled. Overall, my wife and I and others in my group would not recommend Emilia's. read more

Went for a quick lunch in The Bronx at this interesting place. Restaurants open at noon but we went in early. ENTRANCE- we were greeted right away and when asked we were more than welcome to dine earlier than opening time. AMBIANCE- very elegant looking with Italian murals on the wall. Please note there can't be more than 2 dozen tables so make reservations if you plan to go for dinner on a weekend BAR AREA - they have a long bar area with no stools. In all practically this is a large service area for drinks. SERVICE- being the only ones has its perks. The staff couldn't be more friendly and attentive. Really great folks. MENU - not a plethora of items but a nice assortment they also have a 1 page special list with cool items to choose from. You'll have enough to choose from TABLE BREAD - the bread was great but they do get it drone the local bakeries that make it like no other APPETIZERS- I ordered the octopus salad and it was the best ever. Perfectly grilled and perfectly cooked by that I mean the dish was moist and not rubbery which can easily happen when over cooked ENTREES - I ordered the osso bucco which was OK. The pork was a bit dry and slightly over cooked. The Italian rice was very flavorful but the texture was off albeit this rice is the most difficult to prepare. Not awful just not perfect due to uneven preparation DESSERT- stuffed so didn't indulge PRICE- this has been my week as others keep picking up the check. I'm either lucky, dreaming, or dead lol. Explored Arthur Avenue on January 2nd and a bit surprised that not much was open even though not New Year's Day. We wandered into Emilia as a) it was open and b) had heard about it. We beat the crowd by 10 minutes as after we ordered, the line was out the door! It was mainly large family groups which tells you about the quality and quantity of food! I was glad that the lunch menu was available as not sure I could have handled a full-size entree. The beef braciola was tender and tasty. The Caesar salad was very lightly dressed and refreshing. What an amazing place! I was so happy to be back on Arthur Ave in the real Little Italy! This review is a little late as we were there before Christmas. Our server was great and made really good recommendations. The four of us had two carafes of red wine. So excited they had zucchini flowers as one of the specials. Perfectly fried, so delicious. Best part for me was the homemade gnocchi. So light and melted in my mouth. My husband had the pork osso bucco and said the pork was tender and falling off the bone. Another highlight was the local choir group who came in and sung Christmas carols and were fantastic. Can't wait to come back to this restaurant again. Just like being in Italy! read more

After a long day at the zoo, my friend recommended her family's favorite Italian restaurant. We weren't super hungry but still ordered a bunch of food. (Not pictured) their bread- when you sit down they come over and give you a giant basket of warm bread with butter, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I didn't want to eat the bread because I was saving my stomach for the food we ordered but it just looked so good!!! EAT THIS and somehow find room for more food!!!! Fried Calamari - perfectly battered, seasoned and fried. It was a pretty sizable appetizers portion for the 3 of us but the marinara sauce is out of this world. We just wanted to dip everything in this sauce! Ask for extra lemons!! Insulate Tre Colore - very bitter salad because of the ingredients (yes, I knew it was supposed to be bitter) lol but it complimented the calamari perfectly! Add some lemon and pepper to cut the bitterness down a little!! Chicken parmigiana - I shared this with my sister because I knew I was going to be stuffed after the appetizers. The waiter was nice enough to split the order into two plates so we didn't have to share and pass! This chicken parm was perfectly cheesey and cooked and still tastes bomb dot com while being full. Pappardelle Bolognese - this was AMAZING! I had a bite of my friends and honestly they knocked it out of the park. The pasta is fresh and homemade and the sauce is meaty and flavorful. 10/10 would recommend and would come back to order!! The backyard area is nice and cute! The tables are pretty spaced out and there's a cover over most of the tables with heaters facing inwards. Ate at Emilia's about this past summer. It was a fantastic meal. They have a tent set up for outdoor dining (which is what we did) and they also offer takeout. We ordered the Mozzarella Caprese, the Fettuccine with Swordfish dressed with Truffled Oil, and the Lamb in a brown butter sauce with Risotto. We also got a bottle of Chardonnay to go with our meal. The Fettuccine was delicious, you tasted the truffle without it overwhelming the dish. The lamb was super tender, and the risotto was nice & buttery. For dessert we decided on their Coconut Sorbet (served in a coconut shell!) and Dark Chocolate Cake. The coconut sobert was great - velvety, creamy. The chocolate cake was moist, not overly sweet which I appreciate. All in all a delicious meal. read more

Came to this place with a few of my friends for lunch on Friday afternoon. Nick was our server. This place has a beautiful outdoor patio at the back of the restaurant. Nick took really good care of us, constantly making sure that we were ok. His hospitality is why I gave this review 4 stars. The food was amazing. We all ordered different plates and just shared. Everything was so delicious. Pasta was fresh, the portions were huge. My favorite was the mussels. They were so fresh the garlic sauce was perfect. We were a party of 7. Was seated in the back patio area of the restaurant and we were greeted by an older gentleman (who I presumed to be the owner) along the way. Our waiter was very kind and gracious and makes delicious French martinis. We were seated far from other guests to encourage social distancing. I split the lobster ravioli with my sister and it was delicious. Rich, creamy sauce and they weren't skimpy with the lobster filling. There was also shrimp included. They were also hice enough to present it on two separate plates as well. I had a Caprese salad to start and it was pretty good. I took a bite out of my friend's fried zucchini appetizer and that was delicious as well. I also tasted my friend's pancetta and it was delicious, the sauce was thick and creamy. Food was delicious overall and the service was great. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous which makes is easy to split entrees. Would definitely come again. read more

Had a superb meal here with a larger group during a visit to the area a few years ago, and my wife and I made a special effort to return during this visit for a romantic dinner-for-2. Our entrees, the veal francese and the lasagna were on point, as was the service and ambiance. Sadly, I have to dock a star for the bread...it was served cold, as was the butter - thus impossible to cleanly spread and nothing special. Is proper bread a priority? Not normally, but at a classic Italian restaurant in Bronx Little Italy, you bet it is. A restaurant of this quality and reputation should have this simple detail right. Emilia's was a great choice for a delicious Italian lunch. The food was outstanding. We ordered the Mozzarella and Tomato (caprese) as an appetizer which was fresh and tasty. We had a wonderful rich and flavorful gnocchi entree as well. We had a glass of house red wine and sangria for about 12$ each. Overall, our meal at this location was much better than our food experience in the "Little Italy" in Manhattan. The service was attentive and we loved the older gentleman who sat us at the door. Our server seemed not to like us (or maybe he was just grumpy), possibly because we are on the younger side. Perhaps he thought we'd leave a bad tip. We left a 35% tip to brighten his day and because we loved our food. We were so happy we came here. Everything about Emilia's was superb. The stuffed artichoke was delicious. Then we had an amazing truffle cheese on our anti pasta plate. But nothing compares to the mussels white wine sauce. I never have had mussels so good before Fresh so fresh. Sauce was dip your bread in! We loved the mussels so much we had it for our entree. Run don't walk! You must go to Emilia's. If you want to have one of the best Italian meals you have ever eaten, then Emilia's is the place. My wife and I woke up this morning and just decided to go. We lassoed my mom to come as well (she grew up one block over from Arthur Ave). We heard so much about the zucchini flowers, and they delivered! Crisped to perfection with just the right amount of prosciutto and Mozzarella. This is a mouth-watering appetizer you can't miss.Please don't pass up Nonna's Sicilian meatballs, they rival anybodys grandmother meatballs with a signature touch of pignoli nuts and currants, simply amazing. After sipping on an espresso Martini, we dove into their signature gnocchi con Burrata dish. OMG! This dish rocks... the gnocchi is homemade and is so light and airy and practically melt in your mouth. Coupled with the Burrata, the flavors of this dish are impeccable. We capped off dinner with Nunzios homemade cheesecake and the affogato. The cheesecake was absolutely incredible, and the affogato was a perfect blend of ice cream and espresso. We were fortunate to have a table towards the back and sat next to the founder of the restaurant and his wife of 58 years (Nunzio and Francesca). Such a wonderful couple who joked about Naples vs. Sicily. She is from Naples and he is from Sicily. As it turns out, my wife's heritage is Sicily and mine is Naples! This spot we stumbled upon on a Monday afternoon! No reservations needed. Out fort seating in the back with a heated and covered patio! I would recommend sitting outside than in. The food was great! The steak cooked to beat perfect. We also had an order of the truffle pasta dish but subbed the original pasta with cavatells, I would recommend getting a pasta that's made in house, it was beyond amazing! I love this place!! My husband and his friends are huge fans because they went to Fordham. Now whenever we visit the Bronx we stop here for a meal. Most recently I had my best pasta dish yet!!! We sat outside on a beautiful day for lunch - it is great out there! I tried a dish on their special menu - homemade rigatoni with tomato sauce and Sicilian meatballs. The rigatoni was cooked al dente and the sauce was perfection! I could eat that every single day. The meatballs were OK! I wasn't sure what a sicilian meatball was and it turns out there were raisins in them - I didn't love them but they didn't take away from the meal at all. My husband always gets the chicken parm because they do it really well. He was happy with his dish but everyone at the table was envious of my pasta. read more

Arthur Avenue has a number of eateries to choose from, and Emilia's is a classic example of authentic Italian food in the heart of the Bronx's Little Italy. The feeling Emilia's exudes is typical of a neighborhood restaurant - it's not big (though there is a nice outdoor patio in the back), the decor is no frills, and the staff is friendly. The menu was impressive - there were a number of classic Italian dishes plus a few with modern twists on them. Everything sounded so good I struggled to choose what to eat. I decided to start of with the burrata - it was delicious, everything you want out of a burrata. The mozzarella was smooth, the filling was creamy, and it was sitting in a nest of prosciutto which complimented the cheese nicely. For my main I had the chicken breast which was breaded and stuffed with shrimp, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes; it came in a mushroom sauce with veggies on the side. I really enjoyed my experience at Emilia's. The food, decor, and ambiance give off a rustic, neighborhood feel that not many restaurants can pull off - definitely the real deal! read more

I came in 1 hour before closing on a Friday and I felt like the pest that's treated poorly because we walked in late. Service was very poor and the food wasn't good. Very small baked clams and penne w/ shrimp wasn't impressionable. Server failed to offer drink menu and didn't bother to bring dessert menu. For old skool Italian food, it really doesn't get much better than Emilia's or, for that matter, Arthur Avenue. The experience is almost transcending, taking you back to a simpler time where all was good, calm and delicious. I love Emilia's. Food is fresh and delicious. Service is attentive without being overbearing and you really can't beat the ambience. If you haven't experienced Arthur Ave, you must. And if you have and haven't dined at this gem of a place, you really owe it to yourself to give them a try. Took my children for dinner one night. We had a nice time. My daughter was a little unhappy because almost everything had mushrooms in it. She ended up ordering the lobster ravioli, they were nicely stuffed and the pasta looked fresh. I had their version of pasta carbonara.
