And after we had our wedding, our guest did nothing but rave about how fun, unique and perfect the reception was. But just having a reception at RTM is not what I'd recommend it. It was so much more. It was having the incredible variety of foods - we had cheesesteaks, DiNic's roast pork, Chinese food, a salad bar, poutine and corn dogs, grilled cheese from Meltkraft, the list goes on. It was having a historic and unique setting that was transformed into a beautiful evening even with string lights, candles, table clothes, decorations and provided an ambiance it'd be impossible to replicate anywhere else. It was the servers who attended to our guests every need, kept the party going, the room clean and the people happy. It was every little touch that the planning team executed perfectly for us, that all happened without us realizing it, without any reminders or questions. The planning team at All About Events were the true heroes of the night - and in fact, the whole planning process. We met with them about 15 months before our wedding, and Christina, Stevie and Liam made sure that everything was easy, fun and exciting. Christina's emails to us were always clear and thorough, addressing every little question I had asked, and pointing out tiny things I never would have thought of. Stevie's communication with our vendors was so appreciated, including our Mummers and DJ! And every time we met with them, the meetings were exciting, joyful. Their personalities and kindness and caring for us and our events just SHONE. We could not recommend RTM and AAE more. They are a truly wonderful team, and a gem in the Philadelphia wedding scene. I hope that we get to go to another event at the market soon, and we will certainly keep them in mind for our 10th anniversary vow renewal!!!!

Since this was all a surprise to me, it was my first time meeting her and it took just a few moments for us to build a connection. Not only did she capture the big moment, but she also spent about an hour taking photos of us in the city. Before she began the photo shoot, she asked us about what kind of photos we wanted. When we told her we like candid shots, she made sure to keep that in mind and most of our photos are candids. I appreciate her willingness to take direction so that we could get what we wanted. During our engagement session and our wedding, Samantha (and her second shooter, Jess at the wedding!) made these two camera-shy people feel comfortable and fairly natural in front of the camera. Though our engagement photo location wound up being used by countless high schoolers for prom photos the same evening, she calmly navigated to other areas in the garden such that they were barely a disruption. Immigrant John Pitcairn came to the U.S. with nothing, but amassed a fortune in an impressive…read morerags-to-riches story. He commissioned Cairnwood Estate, a spectacular Beaux Arts home, for his wife Gertrude and their children. Sadly, Gertrude died only three years after the home was complete, in the late 1800s. Lesson learned: don't ignore signs of a ruptured appendix! Pitcairn's family followed the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg, founder of the New Church. The spectacular Bryn Athyn Cathedral, with an active congregation, is located on Cairnwood's grounds. The property -- I believe the whole thing, including Cairnwood -- is now owned by the Academy of the New Church. We took guided tours of the estate and gothic cathedral. Beautiful, fascinating and well worth a visit. The docents impart a wealth of information. Frederick Olmstead -- whose name you may recognize from NY's Central Park -- designed the grounds with preservationist Charles Eliot. The estate is a popular venue for wedding receptions, but unless you're a parishioner of New Church it's off limits for ceremonies. "How come?" I asked the woman who guided us through the cathedral. This was our first tour so we are still deciding on where we will end up having our wedding, but this was a great start!
