Really awful experience last night at this overrated "steak house." This was supposed to be my wife's birthday dinner but everything went horribly wrong. She ordered a $15 cocktail but was served a glass of cheap vodka and club soda. The shareable sides were way too salty, almost inedible. Our waiter was MIA the entire night. 3 diners, advance reservations & notification that all were ordering the Seafood Paella ($35 each). Restaurant posted the paella was with lobster, shrimp, scallops & chorizo. Well, 1st you had to go to the Paella station outside & you are given a small portion that consist of 1or 2 shrimp (if lucky, one plate had none), 2 or 3 mussels & 1 or 2 clams; no lobster, no scallops & if chirizo it was miniscule, but did have some small pieces of overcooked chicken breast. Made several comments to the server which, you would think, cause visit from the manager, NEVER HAPPENED. Absolutely do NOT recommend!!! I booked this restaurant for my birthday. We were a party of 11. It rained so the outside was closed. Sitting inside was fine. We were looking forward to a great meal. When we arrive we had a weird L shaped table. Hard for all of us to speak to each other. We asked if we could just readjust the tables The manager, a woman with short red hair came over and immediately had an attitude. Not pleasant or accommodating. Just nastily said no..they can't be moved. She explained why but was not nice about it at all! That's how our $1100 meal started. The waiter was very nice ... but informed us the " special" was already out as well as 3 other entrees ( it was only 7pm). They didn't even have the hamburger. The only saving grace to this night and experience was the food. The food was actually excellent. The snotty manager never acknowledged us the rest of the evening .. she was 5 ft away eating at the bar ... she could have asked how everything was. For the prices they charge.. being treated the way we were ... I would not go back. read more

I thought about it for 4 days before leaving a review. But the more I look back, the more I think I have to. Just so incredibly disappointed with the service. We had a reservation for brunch , we were sat down fast enough. But from this point the waiting was on for everything. We ordered our drinks and they took 10 minutes to come. They didn't take our order when leaving the drinks, they just walked away and took 20 minutes!!! to come back to take the order and only after I asked twice. They didn't even look at you, check on you , just walked by like we were not there. After we ordered, we waited another 45 minutes for the food. Unheard of. And it's not like they were swamped. We called the waiter twice to check on the food. They never came by to offer an explanation. Never checked on us. They have such a unfriendly attitude. After we called the waiter the second time to check, he said they had a big table ahead of us. That's it. All the explanation we got. They had to know this was beyond bad and yet never offered to bring bread for the kids, more coffee, anything. Just left us there for 20 more minutes. We should have walked away. But I had 2 hungry kids and we were 1 hour and 15 minutes in by this point. When the food finally came, we ate it in less that 5 minutes because we were starving. Didn't get to enjoy it. Such a shame. I own a business and I simply do not understand bad service. There is no excuse for it. They do beautiful work in social media, but when you go in its a total let down. Such potential and yet they are missing the most important part of any business, which is service. I'm leaving 3 starts because the food was good once we got it. Not amazing. But good. I feel some type of way about this place tbh. I'm only visiting Melbourne for the weekend on a mini getaway and I wanted to visit a nice place. I came yesterday (Saturday night) about 9pm and the hostess told me they were closed even though it says they are open until midnight. Hmmmm, ok. I came back the next day (Sunday evening) about 5ish. When I walked in I didn't see anybody seated outside and I counted about 4 tables occupied and literally one person at the bar, which is kinda small itself. The hostess told me that they were booked with reservations until about 8pm. Oooookkkkk???? Please re-read my previous sentence. There were about 4 tables with people eating and a single person at the bar. There were atleast 18 unoccupied tables that I could clearly see. So do the servers and waiters all suddenly show up when those people arrive? Your empty restaurant is fully booked for the next 3 hours with invisible customers? Okie dokie. Fool me once, fool me twice. On a lighter note, the Landing's rooftop restaurant was nice and so was Mister O1's extraordinary pizza. If this place is "overbooked" then you should try out one of those places... I'm pretty sure they will have space for you. read more

The good: The food was absolutely delicious. The service we had by Ben was amazing. The bad: We had a party of 8 and they charged automatic gratuity onto the bill. Being in the service industry myself I completely understand the automatic gratuity to a party of 6 or more. However, This was a Wednesday night. Half price bottles of wine. Half the restaurant was occupied. The table I was at alone did 40% of the restaurants revenue that night. For them to charge a 28% gratuity onto the bill is absolutely absurd. The reason was to make up for the total price of wine bottles. We ordered multiple bottles of Caymus along with other bottles. We would have tipped plenty. I have worked in the industry for 10+ years and never received a automatic gratuity by a restaurant more than 20%. Apparently this is the place to work. All you have to do is open a bottle of wine and put it on the table. Again, our server was amazing and I would have tipped 20% regardless. But to add extra tip for a bottle of wine that I poured myself- not acceptable. read more

Starting with the interior: it's basic but not a cool, hip basic. It needs some artistic flair. It's aim seems to be urban, downtown but it's just too spartan. The room was smoky from from the brick oven, so we opted to sit outside, which was nice. The wine room is fabulous. Had some great options. The servers were very attentive. The food: all in all, it's just fine. It looks better than it tastes, and it tastes fine, except everything tastes like butter. There is no finesse to the food. No special herbs, or interesting sauces. And butter is fabulous, but I wish the food was more interesting. It is a fun concept, to have the boards, but the chef needs to pay more attention to taste. I would go back, in a few months to see if they settle in and perhaps, revamp some recipes. But it is a fun spot with loads of potential. read more

Question: when bringing entrees to table is it standard practice to shoe horn in entree plates among appetizers or do they normally clear those plates? Im here in.melbourne for business and stumbled across this place while shopping in town. 5 stars hands down. Cool relaxed vibe coupled with top of the line cocktails and food. Service and food both impeccable. I had roasted cauliflower with goat cheese to start..its huge!!! And delicious. For dinner , scallops, cooked to perfection with the perfect balance of heat complimented with roasted corn niblets, mushrooms , pearl onions and more. Presentation is to die for. I had high hopes for a local steakhouse and I was extremely disappointed. The pork belly app was unfortunately the highlight of the meal. I understand long waits can occur, but sending turned champagne as an apology was worse than just apologizing considering we still had our wine to enjoy. I ordered a NY strip, rare, and it was so tough I had to send it back. I had multiple staff come over and explain they ate them all the time and had never had a bad one (I continued to say it wasn't the cook on the steak, but the quality of the meat). In order to make up for it, they came over and said they were going to make my next steak sous vide (vacuum cooked for hours) and it was out in 10 mins and I ended up not eating it after trying 1 bite. They comped our drinks to apologize, but the $150 meal fell extremely short of mine and my husband's expectations. We frequent high-end steakhouses often and this is not one that will ever receive a second chance, unfortunately. read more
