Elmer's is consistently a good experience, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Today was pick-n-pair, I had the garden fresh sandwich and clam chowder. Being a bit on the snobbish side, I rarely give credit for good chowder except Dory Cove and Chowder Bowl, but I gotta be honest (always am) and confess, Ivar's chowder featured by Elmer's is diggity. They have Dutch pancakes which is why I always stop by an Elmer's if i see one on a road trip. Service is usually friendly and efficient.

We were staying in Albany for a few days and saw this restaurant. Not being from the area we weren't sure about it, but the reviews on Yelp were excellent. They weren't lying! The food here was so good. I had the German pancake, which is somewhat similar to a dish I grew up with called Dutch Baby. Not as light and fluffy but the same taste and presentation. Everything else was equally carefully prepared. I judge a restaurant by its coffee and Elmers was no disappointment. I would definitely return if I'm ever in the area. read more

We came here early in the morning after driving all night to see the Solar eclipse and surprisingly weren't disappointed! I ordered the farmers omelet and to be honest, I don't remember the menu mentioning ham in the omelet but I was pleasantly surprised to find not only bacon and sausage in it, but ham too. Not to mention all the veggies in the omelet tasted totally fresh!! It came with a smearing of gravy on top and a biscuit with a choice of hash browns or fresh fruit. For once I was daring and went with the fresh fruit (you know how that usually goes, the boring old cantaloupe and honeydew melon) and I am so happy I did! I got a beautiful serving of freshly sliced banana, watermelon and grapes! Driving home from Eugene and decided to try this Elmer's in Albany for lunch. Had fish and chips that came with coleslaw and of course fries. Waitress was fast, friendly and attentive and everything was very good. We will definitely return the next time we travel through the area. First off, Save your money and go somewhere better. The management is horrible. We had family from out of town visiting and wanted to go somewhere everybody had heard of. We were told there'd be a 30 minute wait, so we came back after about 20 minutes and were told 'sorry gave away your table, better luck next time.' Really? So unprofessional and rude. This place goes more and more down hill each time we attempt it. If you want quality food and great service go downtown to Brick and Mortar or Downtown Waffle. Very good and solid meal experience. We had breakfast and got a pretty straight forward meal. Blueberry Pancakes(very good large berries) They seem to take advantage of local berries. Came with eggs and bacon. Eggs cooked to order. Their bacon is pretty good as well. Checked on by staff occasionally, but not incessantly for coffee refills. Speaking staff plenty of smiles and good vibes. Elmer's is a solid choice. I have eaten at several Elmer's in the PNW, but Albany crew is really good. In town visiting family and Elmers was suggested for breakfast. I'm 1 person in early morning Dinning room barely half full. I stood waiting for 5 mins until I had to find someone to seat me. Then sat 10 mins until the waiter finally showed up to ask if I would like a beverage and order. I paid $16 for crappy service and cold food. I had better service and food at Denny's down the road. A tough venue to review. Feeds heavy, and economically, in my limited experience, which goes against the current of many reviews. Noisy, hostesses can be ice cold, very hard to predict when the place will be slammed. You're supposed to wait to be seated but there's no sign warning you, so right off the bat you feel gauche. I went to the Elmer's in Albany with my partner for Thanksgiving. And after the experience, I nor my partner will ever go there again. Of course, being Thanksgiving, the place was busy. Everything was OK until after I got my food. I was drinking iced tea and I asked the server for a refill. Instead of getting more iced tea, he just turned and went to another table. I waited several minutes, and he never returned with the iced tea. I finally had to ask another server to get me some more iced tea. If that was it, that would have been one thing. But the bad service continued. When we were done eating, we as always put the dirty dishes at the end of the table so the server can clear them. But not only did he not clear them, he never bothered to come back to ask us if we needed anything else. One of my and my partner's peeves is a pile of dirty dishes staring back at us, and it's never an indication of good service. Finally, after being ignored for some time, we decided to get out of there. My partner went to the restroom, and I sat waiting. Finally, our server passed by our table, so I got his attention. I told him how disappointed I was with how I had been treated. I ended by telling him that was bad service, and he only responded with a smile and said, "awesome". He left without apologizing. Shortly after, he returned to our table with the pitcher of iced tea and poured into my almost full glass, almost spilling it onto the table. Then he went back and came back with the check holder and slammed it on the table and stormed off. My partner returned from the restroom, and when I told him what had happened, he couldn't believe it. Needless to say, with such poor treatment, we didn't give our server a tip. I might point out that this is a very rare exception, for we always give a tip, no matter how small. So this should demonstrate how bad our experience was. When the server came back to get the check and card, my partner looked at him and told him he had better get his card back with no extra charges. Often when we have a bad experience in a restaurant, we will talk to the manager. However, with this guy as server, we just wanted to get the hell out of there. So we got up and started walking to the door. As we approached the door, our server said in an extremely loud and sarcastic voice, "HAPPY THANKSGIVING SIR AND MA'AM" When we didn't respond, he said, "MA'AM, MA'AM", trying to get me to take his bait. My partner had finally had enough and turned to him and said, "you're a real smart ass, aren't you?" The server just stood there with a Cheshire Cat smile. I am reporting all of this to say one thing: AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE, EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE THERE BEFORE, BECAUSE THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU, SOONER OR LATER. Best breakfast we as a family have ever had! The service is friendly and attentive. They keep that coffee full! The kids had the pancakes and said they were the best pancakes they've ever had. I asked the waitress what makes them so special and she said the recipe was so super secret even the staff doesn't know. The potato pancake was heaven topped off the delicious good quality bacon. We are on a road trip and this was a great breakfast to start your day with! The dining area seats a lot of people, but it was never too loud and I'm noise sensitive. Happy to also report that this is a very clean restaurant from dining area to restrooms. Last night after finishing up at HR Block we walked to Elmers Albany OR for dinner. A couple in their 40s or 50s had a mobile phone ON SPEAKER and they were talking to this woman about "stuff" and it was loud and they were talking extra loud so they can be heard over speaker phone. I was very polite and told them "My wife and I would like to enjoy our dinner, could you finish your call or take it outside" This was after I complained to Elmers about it and the waiter just shrugged his shoulders. I felt someone had to say something. 2 minutes later the guy comes over to our table in a rage, saying I have some nerve, the woman's father was in the hospital and needed some support etc. He then shouted if he was a Hells Angel he would slit my throat. The manager came out "Jill" and tried to calm him down, I said he is threatening my life and may call 911. The waiter asked if we would like to move to another table... we said no, we will just go.. and we left. The guy also said Elmers GAVE HIM PERMISSION to speak over the speaker phone and he was not being rude. I don't think I can recommend Elmer's anymore and we used to go there about 1x a month. How do I rate Elmer's? Usually I rate a restaurant not on quality but what is it supposed to be. For instance, Kevin's in Lebanon I rated higher than Gametime, not because Kevins is better, but because it exceeded my expectations while Gametime didn't live up to them. As such I typically start by assuming every restaurant is 5 stars and dock stars off for failing to live up to what I assume it promises. Elmer's is a bit of conundrum in that regard. The service was decent. The waitress kept our coffee cups filled. She was friendly and patient with my wife and I and our five children. The food was a little pricey. My plate of eggs, hash browns, sausage, and bacon was about $10. This didn't seem outrageous, but it didn't seem like a deal either. In fact, upon reflection I have to knock Elmer's here. Shari's, Denny's and the like do offer menu options at the $5 - $6 mark, but nothing at Elmer's seems to be below $9. The menu offers more items in the $10 - $15 price range than not. This may not be a big deal for your average couple, but for me, who has five children, the bill adds up quick. For the record, a place like Shari's may offer a waffle for $5.50 but it won't come with eggs or meat. Elmer's offers eggs and meat with the waffle, you just don't have an option to not purchase them. The food was brought out hot and exactly as pictured. The hash browns were not overly greasy. The bacon was crisp but not burnt. The eggs came unseasoned but salt, pepper, Tabasco, & Ketchup were provided. It was very satisfying but not overly delicious. So Elmer's is exactly as promised. A local chain, lots of breakfast, medium prices, friendly service, and comfy seating. It was exactly as promised. Yet, the more think about it, the more I think it exceeds what it should be. Better food and cleaner than Denny's. Ditto compared to a Bob Evans. Compared to other restaurants in Elmers' league, Elmer's wins! If you're hungover, eat here. If you need a casual breakfast, eat here. If you want waffles, eat here. If you have kids, eat here. If your wallet is a little light, try someplace a little sketchier. read more

We drove up from CA to OR to help some friends move and get away for a weekend, and we had breakfast here on Saturday. All I can say is, "Dutch Baby!!" The food is so good. Huge plates and very yummy breakfast items. I had the Dutch Baby which is sort of like a crepe with powdered sugar and you squeeze lemon over it. I've also had this before where it was called Swedish pancakes. I'm not sure the true name, but whatever you call it, it's yummy! My hubby had the blueberry pancakes, their signature dish, and that was equally delish. Our friends got the cinnamon swirl french toast and.... wow! Yum! We saw a very old lady sitting next to us eating something that resembled a waffle with a huge scoop of ice cream and berries on top... yes. I know... Your typical middle of the road restaurant. It has decent food but it's not the best. My wife likes the coffee here and it's a popular socializing place for older adults. It's is open 7 days a week so it reliable. I would say it's best for breakfast and I really like the German pancake with the lingonberry butter. Easily my favorite. I use to eat breakfast here all the time with my family and we decided to start that tradition again and celebrate my sisters birthday here. We grabbed some breakfast to start off our day. I love how they have a fireplace and it feels just home. I can't remember what I got exactly, but it was a big omlette with ham,mushroom and bell pepper and it comes with hash browns on the side. One thing that I won't forget is the POTATO PANCAKES! It was my first time having that because my little sister ordered it and it was delish! I believe it's was a traditional German breakfast and it was very good. Everyone loved it and I will come back to get that next time. My husband and I eat here often. It's one of our favorite places for breakfast! The eggs Benedict are out of this world! I love the avocado one and my husband loves the crab one. They use real crab ! Not that fake stuff! Their waffles are. Awesome! Their burgers are really good too. But for lunch I always get the Ruben they add turkey to it . Which is a little odd but it's still great! Upon entering, I noticed the restaurant had a big fire roaring in their large fireplace and hearth. This made the place very warm and inviting. It turns out the place had two very large roaring fires going on two chimneys! We ask the waitress Nicole if she could seat us next to one of the fireplaces, and she did! She sat us right in front of one of them. Upon seeing the menu, I chose the Canadian bacon omelet, my sister order the Elmer omelet, my brother the 8 oz steak n eggs and his wife the potato pancakes. My omelet was especially tasty due to the hollandaise sauce and the Canadian bacon was cooked just right and the veggies were very fresh. Everyone agreed that their breakfast were very hearty and delicious. Apparently it seems that Elmer's is a local breakfast food chain here in central Oregon. Our waitress Nicole was very nice, cordial and quick with the coffee and refills. I will definitely be eating at Elmer's every time I come to central Oregon. read more

We took my 87 year old mother in-law to her favorite restaurant for lunch today. The food was good (I had a 1/2 sandwich and soup) and the service couldn't have been better. My mother in-law thoroughly enjoyed the outing. We were pleased at how accommodation they were to an old woman with a walker! I've been here a couple of times now and always found the staff to exceed my expectations. I'd say most of the food is above par, but some of it is worse than what you'd find at McDonalds or out of your local frozen food aisle. In all, it's a great place for you to come for breakfast.
