Good breakfast, friendly staff. Terrific home fried potatoes, strong coffee, good selection of omelette sand other breakfast items.

Not impressed. I was eating my food and opened up an egg to find a hair inside. Then when I was going to tell the waiter he made me wait before I could speak to him about it. He was rude and extremely dismissive regarding the subject. I ate most of it and told them I would only pay for half of my meal (graciously as I shouldn't have had to pay for that plate at all) and he responded gawking at me as if I was the unreasonable one for not wanting hair in my food. To top it off, I did not get a sincere apology from the chef (she smiled and laughed as if it was funny..) who was there while I paid my meal but she was more concerned about the other customers who had just come in, then me. The food and the service is great! New to Nova Scotia and we needed a place to eat. I would recommend as they offer breakfast and lunch .

I've heard so much about this place, I guess I was expecting a lot. I was severely disappointed. The place was chaos, messy, and unorganized. It took FOREVER to get our food, which was basically eggs, toast, home fries and assorted breakfast meats. Over an hour! The food was also ho-hum, nothing special. You could get the same level/quality of food 100 other places with more timely service and better environment. I know they had a delivery issue that hit them hard that day, but still, I don't see how that would limit their ability to serve basic meals within a reasonable time frame. Great food with a great menu with lots of great options. Casual friendly vibe good service and great value . Definitely have the breakfast or keep it simple with the great burgers . It was so good we went twice on a short trip to Halifax . read more

Tried this place based on the Yelp reviews and I cannot say enough good things about it. Let's start with the food: I had the bacon, egg, and cheddar on jalepeno potato latkas and it was amazing. Just spicy enough and the eggs (over easy) were cooked perfectly so that when you cut into the sandwich the yolk poured over everything. Also, who knew jalepenos in latkas is where it's at? It's served with a side of well season home fries that were soft in the middle, a little crust on the outside and not super greasy like you usually find at a diner. My partner had pancakes and sausage (the sausage was maple maybe?) and both were tastey - the pancakes soft and fluffy and moist. The coffee is also A+ and they offer both a medium or dark roast. The service was stellar. We're from out of town (NYC area) and the owner was really kind and awesome towards our baby. He introduced his son and just made us feel really great and well cared for. While some reviews are negative towards the decor and space I would say look beyond it. Sure it's not super modern and fancy but it's clean, cozy, and has a down home feeling to it. Would visit again. Based on the food, service, and atmosphere, this place gets a well deserved five stars. read more

Menu had great prices. Was excited to try this place for breakfast. Waited over an hour and half for our food. It never showed up. The waitress came by and asked us if we received our food, we said no. She seem flustered and walked away. She came by 10 mins later and refilled our waters and did not apologize at all for the food being late. We ended up leaving without our food. An hour and 30 mins is too long. Will not be coming back again, unless I have a full stomach and the patience of waiting that long. read more

After sipping pints on many occasions at Stillwell, I was glad to give Elle's Bistro a try. Disclaimer- my partners cousin is Elle. Small and quaint, we were promptly greeted by the very personable owners. Hard working, they did their best to chat to us while prepping for the next day, cooking food, serving, and taking care of a 5 month old- impressive to say the least. I had the beer bacon chili with a wonderful cornbread muffin. The chili was spiced right, with meaty chunks of thick bacon. The muffin, cooked perfectly and a nice foil to the chili base. My partner had a very nice cheeseburger with some delightful onion rings. Mary Ellen (Elle) disclosed the onion rings were not homemade, but hey, they cant do it all can they? We washed the meal down with a half liter of white wine. Tax and tip came to 47 bucks. Do yourself a favor, check it out. We talk of supporting local, but this is local in action. You may just get to hold the cutest baby in Halifax at the same time. read more

Possibly the worst service I have ever experienced in my life. Our food all came out at different times, drinks took 45 minutes to arrive. They did not have the food that one of us ordered. It was just awful. I might try again for breakfast, but for Burger Week, this place was a huge disappointment. The burger tasted alright but the total lack of service soured our experience 100%. read more

Usually great food and I've been about ten times. Realizing that it's no longer worth waiting 25 min for the coffee and waters to get dropped off for a table of two, today will be my last visit to Elle's. I recommend waiting the 10 min at Mary's over my last 5 trips to Elle's. If I could leave one word of advice, it would be remember the basics in this industry to stay in the top. read more

Elle's serves a great breakfast for a really good price. There were 4 us, each ordered something different and we were all very pleased.

Service was terrible - should not take more than half an hour to make a freakin' omelette at a place as empty as this - especially if the omelette tastes like cardboard. Perhaps other people realized the marginal pace of the place. Was excited about the cheap prices at first but you shouldn't have to pay for dirt food. read more

I have been to Elle's on two occassions now and honestly have not been all that impressed. My first time in I ordered a tomato basil soup and a south western wrap, which totaled almost $16. After waiting an extremely long time, I receive my food, the soup is in a tiny take-out bowl which was a god awful red color and tasted just as bad and the wrap was thrown together, everything was falling out and was the smallest wrap I have ever ordered from a restaurant...I felt sick that I had just paid $16 for this. I said I would never go back again. Well, I ended up giving them another try and went back for lunch a week and a half later. My second trip in I ordered a large greek salad, again my wait time for a simple salad was so long. The salad was just over $10 and the serving was no where near that price. I will say I enjoyed the greek salad, the portion just needs to be bigger for what you pay. read more
