It's a beautiful walk through the farm and the orchards. They seem to have dozens of peach varieties because every time I visit, there's something new to pick. Unlike other U-pick farms, their prices are very reasonable, around $1.50 per pound, and they decrease later in the season. They have such an abundance of peaches that they just want to clear them out! In addition to peaches, they also sell other fruits and vegetables depending on the time of year. This time, they had massive zucchini and loads of corn! I always grab some local honey too, which is both reasonably priced and delicious. I'm amazed that more people don't know about this local gem! I go every year and highly recommend a visit!

We all loved the time and would schedule a class for a party or for our families! It was great fun! Rachel Winters writes a column for the Grants Pass Daily Courier, "The Constant Gardener," sharing thirty years of experience growing trees, shrubs and flowers in southern Oregon. At Siskiyou Gardens, she runs a nursery located in Grants Pass. She also has a great selection of colorful, inexpensive Chinese bonsai pots.Bonsai pot selection includes Chinese and Japanese ceramic, mica and plastic and handcrafted ceramic bonsai pots created by Rachel - each one unique. She also offers bonsai sitting: Leave town knowing your bonsai are watered and cared for. Her place or yours. Rachel's finished bonsai and bonsai starts are also available for sale through Siskiyou Gardens. She offers complete design services, from an informal backyard consultation to a complete landscape design. We work with form, color and texture to make your garden a place for year around beauty and serenity. Her selection includes hardy outdoor finished bonsai in ceramic pots, bonsai starts for the bonsai hobbiest, or trees for large containers. The outdoor bonsai start selection is larger than some urban centers of California and Portland and the prices are very reasonable. Rare and unusual trees and shrubs in larger sizes are available for planting in the garden. Make appointments to visit and check out her stock. Rachel's plants are either propagated from cuttings, many right at the Nursery; or grown up from seedlings. Since they are not grafted they will not revert back to a different type and are usually hardier. Since they have not been shipped in from outside the area or raised in a greenhouse they are hardy and disease free.

The man tending the place performed an original song first for us. Displays are very high quality. The story is compelling. The price is incredibly reasonable. As we approached the bridge, we saw a sign for this Museum, and decided to stop in. This was the highlight of today's sightseeing! We were greeted by Dennis Gaustad. This museum is clearly a labor of love by Dennis and his sister Betty. Dennis personally greeted us, and had us sit and gave us a lecture on the history of the migration along the Applegate Trail. Dennis knows his history and clearly loves sharing it with others. We were amazed by how professional all the displays were in the museum. Many of the artifacts were locally found, and were on display courtesy of this brother and sister team. One of the displays was a 8 minute film produced by Betty, and professionally acted by locals, giving a enlightening representation of local history related to the Applegate Trail migration. Dennis clearly wants to preserve the local history, and is passionate about it. Sadly, several people came in and refused to pay a modest $5-6 entrance fee and left. They missed out on a fabulous display of local history. This museum is a treasure in this region of Oregon, and I encourage anyone interested in how the West (particularly Oregon) was settled, to stop in here and bask in the history proudly displayed here. This is the very best small museum I have ever seen. A definite MUST SEE.
