I know a thing because I am in the HR department at a major healthcare organization and am connected to the benefits department. After researching a bit, checked the additional procedure on the ADA for scaling to see if it is appropriate for my cleaning, and says Codes D4342 are therapeutic procedures, and are indicated for patients who require scaling and root planing due to bone loss and subsequent loss of attachment. Instrumentation of the exposed root surface to remove deposits is an integral part of this procedure. She also made a confusing comment about "main" procedures being covered, but when I followed up on that, she changed her wording and broke it down in a way that felt condescending. As someone new to the office, I didn't feel welcomed or respected. I genuinely wanted to schedule here because of the many positive reviews, but my interaction with the front desk left a bad impression. I hope management addresses this, because first impressions matter and this one made me reconsider becoming a patient.
