I wondered into to Fraser Nolan for ideas more than to actually buy anything, as there is no way on Earth I could afford to have my own shutters made. The show room looks fantastic, filled with all manor of shutters. Who knew there were so many designs purposely for helping me see the TV better at midday?! The gentleman there was very helpful and did give me a run down of what they could do for me at a reasonable price (still nowhere near what I could afford but he didn't know that). I left with a lot of info that I can now take to Ikea and pretend I know what I'm talking about!

Generally they have carpets on the roll at very good prices and it is usual for the prices to be keener on what's in stock. I have and do shop around to see what 's on offer but I must admit I more often than not end up coming back to Martin Phillips as he's local I can save on delivery. They do have a range of wooden flooring on display but I have never purchased any so don't know how they would compare. Being local means I find them useful for all those carpeting and flooring accessories; edging strips, saddles, etc.

This is an old school DIY and hardware store - they seem to have everything behind that counter. The good thing about coming here rather than going to a chain shop is that I was able to walk in ask an expert and leave within 5 minutes. I also didn't have to buy anything I didn't need. They stock plumbing, electrical and decorating equipment including paint but I would suggest just going in and speaking to the guys who work there - they couldn't have been more helpful. What's more, the electrical blocks cost me under £2! Great value!

I'm not a driver so if something goes wrong or I need to get some paint, its hassle to go to one of the big B&Q or the other big stores. The staff have a great knowledge of everything they sell. I needed some orange paint and whilst they didn't have a certain insane colour (not my choice!), but they offered to get it delivered in withouth any extra charge. Pleasant, knowledgeable guys who will go that extra mile to help.

There are so many shiny objects in this shop, physicists could use it to stage some sort of refraction or reflection experiment. Exclusive designs sell all sorts of home decorations, furniture, lamps, mirrors, vases and odd light fixtures. Looking at a few price tags it all seemed priced quite well and I noticed that they have payment plans available if you really want a bright red TV stand but just can't quite afford it this month. Exclusive Designs is not really to my taste but it is certainly popular in Belfast. If you're in to home decorations then pay them a visit - I'm sure you'll find something in their huge stock that you love.

We had been harping on about it for ages cause we were sick of the old curtains that had been up for a life time. We were also fed up of the neighbours looking at us while we did the dishes! I think the advert can be a bit deceiving as it says 4 verticals from £99 but our total bill was a couple of hundred pounds. To qualify for the £99 deal you need to buy the cheapest of the cheap. Anyway we were very happy with the results and the salesman who came out. They could have cleaned up after themselves a bit better in our bathroom though. Generally very good.

No, let me convince you further with an actual sentence. Owned by Sandy Reid, Reid Blinds are the men to go to if you want to install some spanking new blinds in your house or business. These guys are fast efficient blind installers. They will install Velux or Venetian Blinds but apparently they are "old dirt collectors". The best thing about Reid Blinds is that they will accommodate you. Because this is a family owned and run business thye will offer special services and rates depending on the job. Recently they installed four set of blinds on windows at ours for a cut price, so make sure you ask "Can you do any better?".

From the outside, the building looks small and gives the impression that they don't have a large range of stock. However, once inside you quickly realise that they carry and extensive range of tiles, from cheap as chips basics to posh as you like. They gave made very good use of the space available to them and have loads on display without making the place feel claustrophobic. The staff are pleasant, cheerful and very helpful. My only real complaint is that going on the measurements I gave them for my tiling needs (which were accurate) they over supplied me but said that it was OK cos I could return what wasn't used. The Tiler we employed, (recommended by Tile Works) took a good few weeks to start the job and when he was finished we were left with quite a lot extra. When we tried to return them for a refund we were told that they couldn't take them back because the batch number had changed in between. So I have been left with a few hundred pounds worth of extra tiles. All I all, I would still recommend them for the range that they carry but would warn people be wary of over buying.

I went in and two men looked up from behind a high counter, at first I thought I was in the wrong place, even though everywhere was Tiled, but then I told them what I was looking for and one went off to have a look out in the stock room. From looking around the reception seems they do lots of variety of bespoke tiles for anywhere you would like to tile. I paid for my tiles and the guy insisted on lifting them out to the car for me. I'm sure my purchase was one of the smallest that they would get, but still great customer service.
