The proprietors are genuine, inviting folks offering refreshments, pizza, and other odds and ends. The store is quaint but great for those travelling the Appalachian Trail or exploring the backroads. There is a wonderful, large covered porch looking right over the crystal clear creek where one can eat, drink, and rest. They invited us to walk the grounds and take a look at the cabins. Each was only a few feet from the creek with a nice porch and amenities like grills, fire pits, and a common bathhouse. The cabins were clean, fresh, and inviting. They also offer hiker shuttle services between Hot Springs and Erwin. We ate our pizza and enjoyed great conversation with the owners and a neighbor. We will be sure to stop at Hemlock Hollow regularly!

This is a great stop if you need to catch up and do some shopping as it is close to a Walmart and Lowe's. The owners, who are full time RV'ers, happened to also be staying there while we were. Very helpful and friendly. They hosted a campfire evening and a taco evening for guests.

We loved the huge deck and the easy access to the stairs down to the playground and dock (do be aware that there is no fence on either side of the stairs so you need to be extra cautious with little ones.) The pool was a huge hit as were the kayaks and paddle board. We rented a pontoon for three days and found several coves to swim on the lake where we were the only group there. A couple helpful hints if you plan to stay here...1. Bring lots of drinking water as the well water tasted very high in minerals. 2. Bring extra camp chairs if you are coming with a group and want to all be able to enjoy the deck at the same time (we ended up eating dinner outside every night). 3. Rent the golf cart if you have anyone in your party with mobility limitation. 4. Make sure you get up at least one morning for sunrise. You can see it while sitting on the deck and is truly magnificent. I can't recommend this place

My issues were with communication and their lack of transparency. We made our reservation online and when we got our confirmation email, there was no check in or check out time. It is also not available on their website. When we called, we got a voicemail for the Hot Springs high school & laughing waters campground. Weird. But okay. Left a voicemail, never got a call back. There are also no check in instructions. So we arrived at 3:45 on the day of check in. No station, no instructions, nothing. So we call again and a woman answers and is slightly annoyed that we are calling. Informs us that it is self check in (whatever that means) and I s not until 4 pm because they all work. But since we are there we can go ahead and set up camp. Campers should be aware that while their photos depict largely wooded areas, they are not. The campsites are set up in a field on the edge of the river. So you do have trees, but they are largely at the edge of the river. A few campsites had more trees, but ours was in the field (blue heron site). This is fine, but the photos make it seem like you're in the woods. And I'm the summer, I would imagine that the direct sun is brutal. They advertise eco toilets - it's a porta-John. Literally nothing more. Also advertised a first aid station which we did not see, did not find signs for, nor was it in the confirmation email. We didn't need it. But if we had, who knows. A map of the property would have been nice. All in all. I would definitely recommend Laughing Waters. But I think they should be more transparent about what their property and procedure looks like.

This was the perfect turn down the hype and get out of town, relaxing time we needed to be together as a family, play games, enjoy the farm animals and most of all meet some new friends and let our son get his wiggles out. He loves to travel and has been traveling with us since just 18 months old so he likes checking out new spots just as much as we do and this was the perfect little find in a small town in Tennessee. We like it so much we hope to make it back annually to visit. Check them out, you will enjoy your time here and it's so relaxing to get away from the hassle of daily life and just sit back and let the host have things set up and ready for you to unplug or just get away to somewhere new. Some of the tiny glamping homes have private facilities but each has their own personal space/restrooms. The Meadow view has a sauna and the two A-frame have an outside deck with a sink w/well water and a mesh net/bed overhanging the creek along with a table and chairs to relax outdoors.
