Came here for the first time on a weekday afternoon for an hour massage, which cost $70 (not…read moreincluding tip). Caveat: it's run by Chinese immigrants, who don't speak fluent English, so there is a language and cultural difference to be aware of. Once she learned I'm Chinese and could speak Chinese, we spoke in Chinese throughout the time that I was there. I got the impression that she let her guard down with me, because we're of the same ethnic community, so I'll also predicate that my experience may not be a standard to hold them to. What's hot - Quality. Pretty good. My masseuse (didn't get a name) asked me which parts of my body are uncomfortable. She definitely found the knots and released the tension. She also massaged my scalp, which was soothing and helpful. However, it did make my hair oily, because her hands were covered in massage oil. Pressure was excellent. I tend to like stronger than average pressure, too. Because she was applying strong pressure, she asked me if it was too strong for me, to which I responded, no. She responded with a laugh and started humming. Her massage style is what I've experienced when I've been overseas in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, which is less formal and might feel a bit abrupt for those who aren't familiar with different massage styles. However, I enjoyed the pressure. - Cost. $70 for an hour massage, which is pretty good value for money, especially given the quality of the massage. - Hygiene and layout. This place is clean and well-kept. There are individual rooms for more formal massages and larger chairs next to each other for feet acupressure sessions. - Location. Easy to find and there are a decent number of parking spaces. - Payment. They take cash and credit card. What's not - Payment. They charge a $3 fee for credit cards. They also charge me upfront before my session began. - Tip. Even though they charged me upfront, she asked me for a tip before I left. I felt awkward, because I had already signed the credit card slip. I took out what little cash I had with me, to which she laughed, handed the cash back to me, and told me to just add it to the credit card slip. As such, I tipped her more than the cash I originally gave to her, but she still laughed at me for how much I tipped her. My best guess is that she expected more. - Customer service. There is no website, which means you can't go online to book appointments. You can only call for availability or walk-in. They're not good at answering calls. I called a few times at different times on different dates and no one answered. The one time someone answered, I asked if they have availability in the afternoon. She asked me what time. When I responded with my desired time, she said ok and that she'll see me later. It doesn't appear they take appointments, but I can't be certain. Towards the end of my massage, her phone rang and she answered the call. She kept repeating the same answer to the customer and was abrupt, trying to end the call. I wasn't surprised by her abruptness, but it might be awkward for others, so just be prepared. Final Answer Would be willing to return, but probably not a first choice.

This is only the second review I've ever given in my life because I believe businesses shouldn't be…read morelimited to one bad experience, but if I could give JD Day Spa NEGATIVE stars, I would. The establishment and the staff. I came in on a Tuesday afternoon, one week postpartum, to get a pedicure and have a moment of solace. I generally get regular polish because I have brittle nails, but whenever I do opt for gel polish, I always have it soaked off with acetone rather than drilled off, the quick/easy, but unhealthy and thinning alternative. Before having a baby, I thought gel would be the longer-lasting option. It was, and by the time I showed up to JD Day Spa for a refresh (and for the first time ever), the gel polish had already chipped off three of my toes. So I didn't think requesting a soak-off before my pedicure was a particularly unreasonable ask. For starters, there was only one other person getting a pedicure. There were roughly 10 pedicure chairs along the wall, yet the owner asked me to sit directly beside the other customer. I discreetly let another staff member know that under normal circumstances I wouldn't mind, but given that I'd just given birth, I would prefer to sit a few chairs down. No issue there. Once seated, I informed the nail tech who was going to do my pedicure that I wanted my gel polish soaked off. I figured she could have someone else get the process started if necessary... acetone, cotton balls, and foil, while I waited for her to finish up the pedicure she was currently doing. She told me that because it was almost 5pm, the salon closed at 6pm, and the soak-off could take up to 30 minutes, she didn't have time to do the service. I understood the timeline and said no problem, I could just come back another time. Before leaving, I asked another staff member if I could just split the service instead- pay for a soak-off that day and come back another time for the pedicure, since my availability with a newborn is obviously unpredictable and my toes looked atrocious. When I asked what the cost of just a soak-off would be, the owner (the woman in the first chair on the left) met my request with excuse after excuse. First, it was, "it takes too long." Then it was, "Well, we don't do that service, so I don't have a price." I'm sorry, but what? I find it extremely hard to believe that a nail salon has never removed gel polish via acetone vs drilling. And even if a soak-off wasn't a listed service, I was literally willing to pay for the time and forego the entire pedicure. I was simply asking for the gel polish to be removed so I could leave. What disgusts me most is the complete lack of consideration or basic decency shown toward me in this situation. I am one week postpartum, made the effort to get out of the house, was completely understanding of their closing time, and was willing to come back another day for the actual pedicure. I wasn't demanding special treatment. I was asking for a simple service that I was willing to pay for. Instead, I was met with excuses and an attitude that made it abundantly clear that accommodating me, even in the SMALLEST way, was apparently too much of an inconvenience. That interaction spoke volumes to me about the level of customer service and consideration at this establishment. Poor judgment, poor customer service, and frankly, a lack of basic compassion. If you have the time and the choice, spend your money ELSEWHERE. I will never return to JD Day Spa. I drove right up the street to 818 Nail Salon, and they accommodated me without hesitation, without questioning, and without making me feel like I was asking for something outrageous. That is the kind of customer service I will gladly support.

I had been here before and the owner does an amazing job of getting all the knots out and love when she walks on my back! I really needed this. Wow. Go ahead and book two appointments…read more Ah, Leavenworth bliss: A Bai Pho Thai massage that melted my stress away Leaving Leavenworth wasn't on my to-do list, but entering Bai Pho Thai massage? Absolutely. And let me tell you, folks, it wasn't just a massage - it was a vacation for my aching muscles and harried mind. From the moment I stepped in, the serene atmosphere washed over me. The gentle scent of lemongrass and warm towels eased my tension, and the soft Thai music was like a balm on my frazzled nerves. My therapist, (insert therapist's name), greeted me with a smile that could calm a monsoon, and their hands felt like magic wands (but without the pointy bits, thank goodness). The massage itself was pure poetry in motion. (Describe specific techniques you enjoyed, e.g., "Deep kneading knots away like a sculptor revealing a masterpiece," or "Stretching my limbs into graceful arabesques I didn't know I possessed"). The pressure was perfect, finding those hidden pockets of stress and coaxing them out like shy kittens. I swear, at one point I levitated (okay, maybe not, but it felt that good!). And it wasn't just about the physical touch. (Name escapes me, I was so relaxed I forgot) I think she was the owner. And she had this uncanny ability to sense my emotional state. A touch lighter here, a deeper press there, all in perfect harmony with my mood. By the end, I wasn't just relaxed, I was reborn. My muscles were putty, my mind a tranquil lake, and my anxieties? They had apparently booked a one-way trip to Neverland. So, if you're in Leavenworth (or even if you're not!), do yourself a favor and get yourself to Bai Pho Thai. It's more than a massage; it's an experience. It's a gateway to a world of stress-free bliss, and (name) is your expert guide. Trust me, your muscles (and your sanity) will thank you. Also, bonus. They own the Baan Thai Restaurant. I got amazing food for my family to go after this massage and will be back to eat all the options I can handle.
