I love this business and Kaylia and Phil are so helpful! My mom needed a medical alert system. We dropped by the office and were able to compare 4 different models and select the one most suitable for her circumstances. She walks in the morning around the lake and she was able to get a portable model that can summon help wherever she is - even if she's in the car or traveling. Its like having your own "on-star" emergency help button where ever she goes. No equipment to purchase, she just rents for as long as she needs the unit. I would highly recommend Elder Options. They personally go to the home to install and instruct the senior on how to use the equipment. ( We called several businesses and everyone seems to ship equipment in a box and leave it up to the senior to read directions and install themselves) They also provide a free safety check to help address potential fall dangers and suggest remedies. I have a Belle unit with Safe@Home. I feel safe when I am home alone. The people who monitor it and call me when I press the button are so kind. I can trust they will be there when I need them. if I could post a 0 star rating I would. I don't know where to start. this whole thing really upsets me because I'm also a caregiver but for a different reputable company and we know how to take care of our clients we've been awarded many different awards over the years as nationally being the best in in-home care. this place doesn't have any Care Plan or instruction for the caregivers to follow when working with their clients and so the caregivers just do as they please. they don't have case managers and the lady that's in charge of the place doesn't even live in state. there is HORRIBLE favoritism within the company. we would ask for a different caregiver but the company kept sending the same one. so much in fact that they could care less about the performance of their caregivers and about the care their clients are getting. don't bother bringing in your POA paperwork or other important documents if you have any because these guys completely ignore it they won't bother looking at it and won't honor it. the caregiver we had taking care of my grandmother totally disrespected my mother and sisters who live with my grandmother to help take care of her. we would complain about this caregiver many times but we soon found out that the complains fell on deaf ears because this caregiver was a favorite in the company. she was allowed to show up to my grandma's house when she felt like it (usually 20 minutes or later) instead of being on time. when this caregiver would take my grandmother out for grocery shopping she wouldn't check the produce to be sure it was ok to eat. when she would decide to clean the bathroom my grandmother would use she used ammonia and when ever we would walk in the bathroom our feet would burn! the caregiver would try to help self medicate and diagnose my grandmother outside of what my grandmother's doctor had diagnosed and prescribed her. the caregiver would bring her laxatives and give them to my grandmother. my grandmother was starting to have problems in the bathroom because she was getting way too much laxative. I was worried that she would get dehydrated. as a caregiver we aren't allowed in any shape or form able to physically touch any of the medications in the pill boxes that our clients have and we can't fill them that's the families responsibility. the caregiver would go through and "Fix" the pill box the way she felt it needed to be after my mother would set it up. my grandmother has hypertension and has a history of other heart problems and she's diabetic I'm surprised the caregiver didn't do some real harm to my grandmother! we decided to keep the pill box in my mother's room and that my youngest sister (22yrs old) would give my grandmother the medications she would need when she needed them. the caregiver would always complain about the kitchen being a mess when my youngest sister would have just gotten done cooking food for my grandmother! my 2nd oldest sister is autistic and disabled herself and the caregiver would talk down to my sister and belittle her. it came to a point where my sister would cry and shut her self in her room and totally avoid being in the same part of the house as this caregiver. my 2nd oldest sister started having health problems from stress. when we finally did get rid of the caregiver and thought the headache was gone she gave my grandmother her personal phone number and they would call each other (caregivers NEVER GIVE OUR PERSONAL NUMBERS TO ANYONE) if the client needed to get a hold of the caregiver they call the case manager and if the caregiver needed to get a hold of the client for any reason they call the case manager. the caregiver would also show up to the house on her personal time and it would be unannounced. the caregiver started the services back up somehow because after that point she started coming back to the house. nothing had changed. the caregiver would also for some reason go into my grandmothers bedroom by her self and shut the door. she would be in there for several minutes. not long after her visit we would find my grandmother's good jewelry around the house in strange places and its always kept in a box and it hasn't been taken out in years! the caregiver would also follow when my grandmother would go get into her safe. later we would find boxes of jewelry and other things of value taken out or missing and some of my grandmother's $ would be gone. this caregiver would also ask my grandmother for gas $ when that's something that the COMPANY PAYS HER. the caregiver would always try to parent my sisters and she would talk down to my mother and scream and yell at her. the caregiver said to my mother "I'm sorry your brains are too small to comprehend what I'm doing". we're gonna get a lawyer and we talked to Department of Health. Please if you care about your family members don't do business with this company. I'm told the company is changing its name to Care Options. read more
