We stayed here for a 3 night stay in May 2011. The B&B (not a hotel now) is delightful and comfortable. It is within minutes walk of the Ambleside centre and the shops/bars/restaurants so a car is not needed in the evening or if you want to do Ambleside based walks - that said there is a car park (no charge).
I had room 4 which is one of their 'superior' rooms. The room was very very spacious, the bed was comfortable and the room is nicely decorated with good quality furniture and good decor, the superior rooms have a digital tv with DVD player (take your own DVDs).
The bathroom is modern and comforfortable with a white suite and is very clean - there is a bath and a good working shower and a few nice products (shower gel/body lotion/hand wash).
The B&B owners are very accommodating, there are lots of walking guides available for you to borrow in the bar downstairs and they do packed lunches (need ordering the night before), which were very reasonably priced.
Breakfast was very good, there is lots of choice including Vegetarian choices and we mixed and matched the items we liked best, there was choice of cereal, fruit, fresh bread, cooked breakfasts.
There is a bar area downstairs in the B&B and there is also a nice lounge if you are looking for a sociable area.
All in all - a brilliant stay and if I went back to the area I would not look around elsewhere (unless they were fully booked). read more
