Exceptional, authentic Mexican food. The Carne Asada tacos reminded me of my favorite restaurant in Monterrey Mexico during my college years, yum!

Absolutely phenomenal!!! Spending a night in the area and asked several friends who know the area what their favorite meal in Northfield is - El Triunfo was the answer all three gave me. Just the right amount of spicy and delicious.

Gong Loco - This is a rice chunk that wasn't friendly for my teeth.

My wife and I were on a date night and looking for something that was simple and unique. We wanted…read moreto grab a drink at Loon Liquors and so I looked on Yelp to see what was close by for a quick bite to eat. This place caught my eye with all the talk about Asian/Mexican fusion. Panda Express and Chipotle combined? Hmmm...you peaked my interest. The menu does not disappoint when it comes to a mixture of fusion food, whether that be a taco, rice bowl, or burrito. You basically can build your own combo or choose from one of their own recipes. My wife decided upon the fried shrimp poke bowl and I tried three tacos - the spiced cauliflower, bahn mi, and fried fish. All of our meats were deliciously cooked and seasoned. The spiced cauliflower sauce was packed full of flavor. They have cracked the code on how to make cauliflower taste good! Amazing. I especially loved the pork belly in the bahn mi inspired taco. It was unique, not quite bahn mi, but extremely tasty nonetheless. I enjoyed all three of my tacos. My wife raved about her poke bowl. Once again, it was not quite a poke bowl since there was no raw fish included but you got everything else and it was all fresh and tasty. We also shared a bag of chips and their fresh guac - very good choice to even out our meal. We liked the variety and uniqueness of the dishes we tried. I will definitely stop back when I am in Northfield for more of that pork belly, yum.

The staff seemed to be new, they didn't know what was on the tacos so I had to take a photo of the menu and read it to the guy making it, but it wasn't a big deal. The other people in my group got the queso, a cheese quesadilla and each had one of the bowls. They all enjoyed them, though from my few bites, I'd say the tacos were definitely the standout items. The only item I didn't like was the egg rolls. They were extremely greasy and overall tasted off. None of us in the group ate more than a bite. Overall, a nice spot to stop into with a Chipotle style "build your own" vibe. I highly recommend trying the speciality tacos.

I ordered a basic, beef hard shell taco and it was yucky. I barely ate it. It's hard to screw up a taco but this one had a mushy shell, no flavor to the beef and little to no lettuce, cheese, etc. Added salsa to it to jazz it up and it didn't help. I rack it up to the worst taco I've ever had. My friend ordered the fajita quesidilla and she liked her food. It looked appealing. I'm not sure what happened to the awesome chips they used to have (this was several years ago). I didn't even eat the chips and salsa. Chips are lousy - greasy, awful flavor and texture and salsa is no big shake. We ordered queso and again, hard to screw up queso, but it was so runny like water and had no flavor. We didn't even eat it. What really disappointed me is the lack of care around the restaurant. The doors and windows are so smudged up and dirty. It makes it feel unclean. Most of the booth cushions were ripped up. At first he sat me at at a table that's cushions were all ripped up. I would have been sitting on the innards of the booth. Second booth was a slight improvement - but still big, wide rip on the seat. Super bummed on how this restaurant has changed so much. I used to drive from Rochester to eat Mexican there because it was so good. It's safe to say that this was my last time there. Hope they listen feedback and make improvements. Like to support small businesses - but this spot needs a lot of TLC.

To my dismay, they've expanded their brand and added Coco's Market right next door to the restaurant. AND IT'S SO FRICKEN COOL INSIDE!! You can find almost anything in there and it's a great place to get authentic Mexican souvenirs such as hats, keychains, belts, aprons, and so much more. Apart from that they also sell grocery items like avocados, limes, rice , canned items, rice, tomatoes etc... and get this, you can even send money to different countries!! The true definition of a one-stop-shop! TALK ABOUT DECOR!! This place will uplift your spirit from the moment you enter through the double doors. I love how much attention they put into making the space feel and look stunning. One a cold wintery day like today, the little things like this matter most. Seating area is nice and the noise level was adequate with a touch of Mexican cumbia music! I wasn't really in the mood for meat and I love that their expansive menu can accommodate my peculiar eating patterns lol. I started off with a HOT bowl of Mexican Menudo, then a plate of Mexican rice, beans and tortillas on the side with cheese inside.. Y-U-M-M-Y!!! This was followed by a platter of picadas (that I shared with my partner), a cup of Mexican prepared corn (esquite) and washed it all down with a glass of horchata! Overall it was to die for! I've spent a good chunk of time in Cuernavaca, Mexico and the food here reminds me so much of the food there. Coco's roots trace back to Maltrata, Vera Cruz in Mexico and I love how they've blessed the community here with a taste of home. It's located in the heart of Northfield on a strip that can be considered their downtown, so there's lots of petite mom and pop shops that you can browse. Decent amount of parking in the front area, otherwise you can also swing in the back of the building and find more parking. Going to Coco's is now a routine whenever I'm in Northfield and one that I can get used to :) Fast service + family-oriented + hot and freshly made food = Coco's Place. Once again, I left a happy camper ;)
