Great little spot in Long Beach. 3rd stop on our taco tour. The Baja fish taco was by far my favorite. Tender fish with a delicious crunchy batter. Also tried the carnitas which were very good and tender. Add a little salsa verde and it was yummy. Al pastor was my hubby's favorite... a nice kick of flavor. Friends had the shrimp and barbacoa tacos. Barbacoa was tender and yummy. Shrimps was good, but nobody's favorite. The grilled tortillas and salsa were delicious! AND they had Orange Bang!! The food here was very tasty and packaged very well for door dash! I got their 3 item combination plate, with a Chile relleno, asada sope, and red enchilada. Chile relleno and enchilada had great sauce and were very cheesy. The asada on the sope had a great taste! Went in for happy hour as this place was recommended to me by a friend. What a mistake! The wait staff is completely rude and obnoxious. I counted 3 eye rolls from the rubenesque waitress who informed me you have to order first, pay, TIP SCREEN then sit down to uncomfortable seating and awkward ambiance almost like they don't want you there. I ordered off the happy hour menu which she rudely pointed to and said order from here. I almost walked out but usually places that have rude staff and bad service have good food. I was wrong. Food came out quickly but the meat was cold and not seasoned, the chips were crumbs from the day before, the salsa was super watery and they use fake shredded cheese. The juice they have up front was super sweet but actually not bad, The enchiladas were good but cold. I had to ask them to heat them up for me which did not go over too well. Overall, dodgy neighborhood, zero parking, bad rude service, food could be better and the staff just yells and curses in Spanish. It's a hurry up and go spot. Every single time I have came here the cashier always has an attitude or wants to roll her eyes at me, she's rude and always makes faces. I don't know her name. I am someone who analyzes everyone and all my surroundings and I realized that as soon as a man orders she's supper nice and sweet as soon as it's a female she wants to have this snarky attitude and won't even ask if your ready to order just stands there with a stupid face . She literally ruined my appetite I didn't even want my food anymore but had already paid ,I was going to dine in and just decided to get it to go . Food has always been great here and at their Newport Beach Location, I have been going to both locations for years and this is the second time I've had this unpleasant experience with this lady. I will not be coming back to this location because it seems the cashier hates her job or women for some reason is very dismissive and rude . I soooo wanted to like this place, but it really fell short for me. The person who took our order was really nice hence the two stars. We ordered: Fajita Salad- LOTS of lettuce but really not a whole lot of other toppings. The meat that could be found did not have a lot of flavor. Carnitas Plate- The beans were really plain the rice did not taste fresh and the carnitas were average at best. The tortillas were good. Mexican taco- we ordered two of these and they were really tiny. The flavor was once again average at best. Cheeseburger- this was very blah, I know we shouldn't have ordered a Cheeseburger at a Mexican restaurant.. Lesson learned. Chips- they were stale and they charge you for them This place was way overpriced for the quality of the food they serve and the portion size. A very solid Mexican restaurant. What's nice is that they have taco deals on Tuesdays AND Fridays. My boyfriend likes the enchilada combo. I like the hard taco and enchilada combo, which is what I get on a non-taco deal day. Both the rice and beans are yummy here, yay! They have so many kinds of tacos, but my personal favorites and the ones I get when it's Tuesday or Friday are: mushroom (this is SO delicious and flavorful), fish (breaded; the only way to go), shrimp (again, breaded), barbacoa, and carne asada. Family has told me the al pastor is also good. Their agua fresca, while good, is too sweet for me, so I add in a little water and let the ice melt. My initial opinion when I first saw this place was that it was probably just OK, so I'm glad I was very wrong. read more

Placed an order through EAT24 & when the driver arrived he did not even come to the door (he called me to tell me that he was here). When he opened the door he looked like he had just gotten out of bed and was very rude. When he handed me the bag it appeared as if everything had just been thrown in there (or at least tossed around in transit). I got upstairs opened the containers and the food was all over in the containers. I immediately called the restaurant to voice my complaint and the employee whom I spoke to said that the driver was through Grubhub and to call them to voice my complaint. She (restaurant employee) apologized and told me that the driver left as they were trying to give him the salsa for my order as well. I got online and chatted with an EAT24 employee whom refunded me for the meal and apologized for the bad experience. As far as the food is concerned, I ordered the 3 item combo (mini cheese quesadilla, beef tamale, and hard shell beef taco). The tamale was extremely dry and looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time or was overcooked. The mini cheese quesadilla was cold and dry, and the taco was ok. I had rice and beans and it looked like the beans were just smothered in the container. As for 2nd item I had ordered for my friend, the tamale was in a separate Styrofoam container, his beans and rice and the cheese enchilada in an aluminum container, and his taco in another container, and a separate bag of chips thrown in. FRIES IN THERE After working all day in LA I needed some good Mexican food. I did a Yelp search and came up with this place. I must warn you that parking is horrible. I might have circled this restaurant twenty times and when I was about to give up someone pulled out directly across the street. All I can say is have patience because it was worth it. I wanted a burrito but I'm not a fan of rice in my burrito. I know I can ask for it without rice but then my burrito looks like a small chimichanga. Personally the rice is a filler I don't need. I then saw the California Burrito on the big board. It had carne asada, guacamole, french fries, cheese and sour cream. Wait a minute! French Fries? Okay I'm intrigued. I asked the two girls at the counter if it was good and they gave me a crazy look. I decided to ignore their negative verbal cues and I went for it. I also ordered a Baja fish taco with cabbage, chipotle cream sauce and pico. As I waited for my food I visited the fresh salsa bar. I'm obsessed with salsa and I love making salsa. Im always amazed at how all salsas taste different. The salsas here rocked. Chips are not free and I could have used a basket. The guy behind me got a basket while he was waiting for his food to go. That was a great move. My food was finally ready. I've got to be honest the french fries were really good. They soaked up the fantastic meat juice like a poutine. I was really impressed. I've been traveling to LA for a long time and had no idea that adding french fries was a thing. All of my local LA family and friends were like "you didn't know?" I was like nope! Now I know and I can't wait to have it again. The fish taco was just okay. I felt like I was really fishing when I was eating it. You know when you sit in a boat all day and you catch no fish. The fish was really missing from this fish taco. It was flavorful but I really needed some fish in my taco based off of the price. I was very let down. Luckily I had my burrito to make me happy. I would come back here for the California Burrito. It was truly a taste sensation. The salsa bar rocks and I can't wait until my next trip here. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Comfort Mexican fare in a no-frills but cute setting. One night on the way to Alex's Bar the bf and I decided to stop in for a pre-concert snack of a bean and cheese burrito. This is an order-and-pick-up-at-the-counter joint, but I liked the cheerfully decorated interior. The burrito was good, if not amazing, and we were fast on our way. On another occasion we decided to stop in for a late breakfast and it was a much more leisurely affair. Since the weather was pleasant we sat out in the back patio and it was quite nice. We ordered a couple of different breakfast combo plates and they were quite good (I think I had the huevos rancheros). They also have a self-serve coffee station during breakfast. worried that we wouldn't be able to have take-out for dinner, we were happy to learn this place was open after 8 pm during quarantine. we called + the woman on the phone was very friendly. we made our order + she said it would be ready in 15 minutes. picking up from this place was a bit of a challenge as they don't offer parking + this neighborhood didn't offer much street parking options. i waited in the car while parked in someone's driveway while the hubs went to pick up our food. i got the 3 item combination plate with double beans (pastor mexican taco, asada mexican taco, + pork tamal). the asada was better than the pastor. the pork tamal was delicious. the hubs + i shared two crunchy tacos (chicken + shredded beef). both had great flavors + i would easily order this again. the hubs got the asada burrito + he enjoyed it. he especially loved the marinated carrots that came in the little baggy. our entire order came with a small bag of chips + a variety of salsa. they forgot to pack the lime; luckily, we had some at home. overall, we enjoyed our experience at el torazo + will order from them again. read more

Their shrimp cocktail is disgusting. I've eaten three pieces of shrimp and I couldn't take anymore. I forced myself upon the third shrimp because I was craving shrimp cocktail so bad and of course because of the money I've spent.. didn't want it to go to waste. But after that third shrimp, I just couldn't anymore. Their shrimp was over cooked and chewy. I'm not sure if they use the same shrimp for their fajitas in their shrimp cocktail, but it sure taste like it. I can see the shrimp having char/grilled marks on them as if they were stirfried in a pan or on the grill, they were seasoned like how shrimp fajitas are. I've never had shrimp cocktail with seasoned stirfried/grilled shrimp before. Maybe some people like it that way, but for me I prefer it the way 99% of most restaurants make it, when they boil it just enough that the shrimp is still tender and juicy or even cooked halfway. WITHOUT SEASONING! As for the cocktail I got here from El Torazo, the shrimp was seasoned, therefore the cocktail juice was so disgusting it tasted like the juice/sauce you get when ordering fajitas. My cocktail juice was greasy, I CAN LITERALLY SEE OIL INSIDE! A very nasty texture. Cocktail juice is supposed to taste refreshing.. not seasoned with something you cook in oil etc. Never again will I order shrimp cocktail from this place. read more

Bad experience with their takeout/delivery service. I ordered a breakfast burrito and a shrimp quesadilla though Grabhub. When I open the box and found out they gave me a shrimp taco instead of quesadilla. Tried to contact the store serval times, but the their phone line seems not working at all. Long story short, I ended up having a tiny shrimp taco that cost me more then $10. The most expensive taco I had ever had....... Driving by, this little hole in the wall (or house like shack) establishment does not seem like much, but the tacos and deals coming out of this location is great. My favorite tacos - Lengua tacos, which are not a dollar, but worth the few quarters you must give up for these deliciously tender and flavorful Mexican style tacos. To clarify: Mexican style tacos are $1. Most of all meats. All the meats are great. Fish taco and lengua is a little bit more. They also have a great salsa bar with my favorite compliment pickled carrot/jalapenos! Different salsas for all tastes. 10/10 would recommend. Also come during off times to find street parking and it is VERY limited. The restaurant isn't large, but there is a good amount of seating. read more
